I found a new preview with several new spoilers in the German gaming magazine PCGames. So be warned if you read on spoilers ahead.

Harmeless ones: Hawke´s mother´s first name is Leandra and Aveline´s last name is Vallen.

Gameplay: There are three mage specialisations: Force (more damage), Spirit healer ( more mana) and Bloodmage ( more health).

Companions: Fenris ia a mage and not a rouge or warrior as the community assumes.
                          Merrill from the Dalish Origin will be a companion.

See, I believed this until you have: "Fenris is a mage and not a rogue or warrior as the community assumes". Ser Gaider himself has said Fenris is NOT a mage and has pretty much said Fenris is a two-handed warrior.

When and where ? The only thing Ser Gaider confirmed in the Fenris thread is that Fenris is not a sword and shield warrior.

Official Fenris Discussion thread-- go back out into the Dragon Age II General Discussion, find the thread and click the BioWare icon below it, not on the thread name so you just get the Dev replies. It should be the third post. This is what Gaider said:

we  shouldn't forget the new skill system. Just because Fenris USES magic because of his individual skills and the lyrium in his veins it doesn't mean hes a mage class-wise. it would be like saying "shale is an archer she throws rocks".

True, class wise it leaves 2 handed warriors, rogues and dog/shale type "non classes", but as he's swinging a dirty great sword with a handle ideal for two hands, I think we can jump to some conclusions.

I'm aware of that, but there is a pretty big difference between Isabela and Merrill.
Isabela has a backstory and regognizable personality in origins, while Merrill says a few things and thats pretty much it.

garret is also swinging one nasty two hander that turned out to be a mage staff so....

I think Isabela has a louder personality (willing to have foursomes leaves an impression), but I think Merrill wasn't personality-less. She also had plenty of backstory too--she's a Dalish elf, who is training to be Keeper and knew the Dalish Elf Warden. Isabela is a pirate who was once married, and knew Zevran.

im not sure about the fenris part....

but im really excited about the mention of merril. i liked her character she wasnt anything like velannas bitter character. maybe her spec will be similar to a spirit healer considerong they have awesome healing magic. kinda be sad she wont use any plant spells though being as keepers not a spec.

as for force mage i wonder if it a spec that just enhances the force/knockdown effects. like with fireball etc. thatd be sweet coz itd mean earth spells would be much more powerful than in origins.

can anyone confirm the facts in this article?

Hmm... Merrill as a companion... Dalish Warden import...



I may be tempted to produce a man-squee if it's true. It'll sound something like fingernails across a chalkboard mixed in with a belching noise I imagine. I'd advise people to keep a safe distance. I fear for the stability of the universe.

theres an internet link from gamestar saying that and gamestar usually doesn't give out too bad info. i guess however the OP should tell us the line in which it says hes a mage. ill also get that magazine tomorrow and check on it...

Merrill?! Omg, please let this be true! I'd love to see her as a companion! It will be interesting to see what she looks like re-designed.



Also, we finally have a name for momma! Leandra, an interesting name indeed, and it seems to suit her. Something tells me she's going to get preferential treatment in Kirkwall because of her noble blood.
