From all the news I've read Bethany is a permanent companion and Carver is the one who could die. I don't think Hawke's class really matters that much in this case because in Origins they gave you two mages, two warriors, and two rogues regardless of your class and I don't see them changing that for DA2. Furthermore, that person behind Hawke looks exactly the same as confirmed pictures of Bethany.

I really hope Fenris is a warrior, but since it looks like there are 3 rogues (Varric, Isabela, and that lady in red on the right) in that picture having him as a mage is still plausible. I also hope you're wrong about this being the full team because ever since I saw the elf archer chick from the animatics I've been holding out hope she'd be a companion.

OT: i don't really like how BioWare has balanced out the specializations along dps, casting, or more life. I hope they allow a bit more flexibility than that, but i am excited at having another minor Origins character as a companion.

I guess you're wrong somewhere:
-the lady in the right side of the screen is not a rogue, it's Aveline, a warrior, and she's wearing her shield on her back, she's not holding a bow, despiste his arms position could suggest that

-Betany or carver will survive, only one of both.It depends on your class.If you're playing a warrior or a rogue, then Bethany will survive, not Carver.But if Hawke is a mage, then Carver will survive, and Bethany will die.
All the news you get your info are perhaps from all those previews.In these previews, all the guests were playing Hawke as a rogue, so that's probably why you supposed Bethany is a permanent follower and only Carver could die.

Perhaps Fenris is somewhat of a warrior with templar-like abilities; seeing as how Templar's rely on lyrium to perform their abilities I'm assuming Fenris will behave in the same fashion. If i remember correctly, you could have the conversation with Alistair and state that templars are basically mages and Alistair would respond with, "You could look at it that way, yes." Who knows though, we have two contradicting sources of information.

Anders = tricky since his survival depends on your actions in awakening and since hes locked in the tower often. making somebody losing an entire LI just because of not reinforcing the keeps walls correctly seems kinda unlikely to me...

That makes me feel better. Some of this info did seem a bit... off. I'm not trying to call the OP a liar. It just seems like some information was wrong or mistranslated, idk.

Still curious about the Merril information. It's an odd choice for a companion.

And the party seems pretty balanced gender wise.

Warrior: Aveline/Fenris(?)
Rogue: Isabella/Varric
Mage: Merril/Anders - maybe

Probably not so much.remember your first encounter with Flemeth.She will ask you to bring something to the Dalish.It could be Merril, and this means we will probably meet her at the very beginning of the game.

Also, it would be funny if Merrill ended up being a love interest instead of Aveline, what with all the speculation and complaining about her.

Because Hawke is human i am sure a human LI in game for both ganders is available...there is always a human option!

As for Bethany appearing in the shot with mage Hawke, I remember him wearing that armour when he was a warrior too...at the very very beginning. And mages had that blue robe. I'll search for pics in a moment.

True, but someone (Gaider? Or possibly Laidlaw) said if they really wanted to bring a character back they'll disregard the epilogue cards if it conflicts. I thought there was a good chance that Nathaniel might be brought back as an LI, and I'm still sure we'll be seeing him in some form, but because Fen is sorta stoic, the final LI will probably be more outgoing. So something like Anders' personality would be a good balance. That and the suspiciously Anders-like character we've seen make me think it might be him. However it could also be an entirely new human male character.

Also one of Anders' epilogue cards has him ride with a pirate. They might force a canon like they did with Oghren.

Perhaps the whole  Force Mage is wrong as Christ suggest that, but is it only about the Force style, or both of the words he was refering to?It's not like as if he was telling that Fenris was not a mage, he only said not a Force mage, seen?

Nathaniel would propably be your better bet then. im not sure but i think hes leaving for "new adventures" after awakening if he survives. besides, you would meet him before awakening starts in kirkwall, while Anders was only going to Amaranthine for his Phylactery. And i also think anders tends to stay with the wardens, even tough im absolutely not sure of that. besides, Nathaniel would make for a great character. First he'd run of murdering the guy who killed his father and then he'd come back believing his father was evil... great change of character. besides, hes not stoic or something, when you first meet him he's just sad and kinda desperate.

Please take note of Chris' obvious evasion of the Merille point. That points to the "take with a grain of salt" train of thought. Or it points to "I must ignore this to help hide this as a potential reveal/spoiler." I'm not exactly sure of which.
