interesting. to me it looks like the painted red symbol resembles this thing, which i believe is one of the elven guardian things from witch hunt:

An idea:

Wow, Saibh. Sometimes you have these theory threads that just blow my mind. Where is that one picture from where Orsino is facing the Chantry lady with the "Spindle of death" diadem? This is the first time I've seen it.
