I just pre-ordered DA:O for my 360 yesterday and I have a few questions about it.

1) Game length/ DLC- I heard this game takes 80 hours to complete all the quests. Will Bioware be adding a lot of DLC content? Does DA:O end like all the other Bioware games? Do I have to save before I beat it so It doesnt stop me from playing the same character?

2) Respawns- Do enemies respawn so I can just go out into the wild and kill things? Or do they perma die? Do dragons respawn? Probably not but how about normal enemies?

3) Items- Are there a lot of items in DA:O similar to Oblivion or a smaller selection of items to aquire more like KOTOR or something of that nature?

4) Blood- I heard that blood will stay on armor and weapons until after I load into a different area. Is this true or does the blood disapear after a few seconds?

EDIT: (new qs) 5) Death- I heard upon death you pop up at the end of the battle with bleeding damage, concussions and other wounds and can do things like rap a bandage around your head or what not. Is this true? Does it actually show you doing this stuff or no?

Thanks ahead of time for the answers everyone.

1) 2 Year plan on DLC I believe

and when it ends it ends, so finish up before-hand

2) Not sure

3) More like Kotor I would imagine.

4) I don't think it would linger for too long.

1) So you mean it does end like other Bioware games?

1. They've stated that there is a 2 year DLC plan. That may or may not include full expansions. They have also stated that when the game is beat, you get a final save afterwards, so no back loading needed.

2. I've heard that there are respawns in some areas of the world, but no solid confirmation.

3. There are tons of items, though armor seems to be full sets (not piecemeal of gloves, boots, chest, legs, etc). I expect far more than Mass Effect and KOTOR.

4. Not sure. It does persist for a decent while, and it wouldn't surprise me if it only goes away after leaving an area.

1) A final save? Meaning I can beat it and keep playing correct?

Yes, you can keep playing after beating the main campaign (so more like Oblivion than KOTOR or Mass Effect). That info came straight from BioWare, but the post was on the old forums that can't be accessed anymore.

Yay! I have high hopes for this game then! =D Do you think since it is such an old post that they could have changed this feature or nah?

No, those "old" forums went away just today (sometime this afternoon). They've had the game features and content locked down for months as they fixed bugs and polished the game.

Quote (by Georg Zoeller):
"If it's an area where you will traverse multiple times, don't expect it to be devoid of any life just because you 'cleansed' it before.

Plus ... there's random encounters (though they work more like in the BG series) "/quote

From what I've read, you cannot keep playing afterwards except for DLC.  So if you beat the game, then buy Warden's Keep afterwards, you can load up your final save and explore the DLC area only.  You can't just roam around the world afterwards like in the Bethesda games.

Nice. So this game will pretty much have nearly endless play like oblivion then? Only on a slightly smaller scale with cooler combat and interesting story?

Well Dragon Age isn't designed as an open-world game like the Elder Scrolls games.  Not being able to freely wander around is the price you pay for having a solid storyline and deeper characters.

So, after I beat it I couldnt go back to some area and kill stuff just for the hell of it?

If you load from your final save it will be a load of "before" you beat the final battle. At least that is what I assume. If that is true then there will not be a limit on "where" you can explore. Hell, that doesnt make any sense anyways. It would be a nightmare to implement

I hope your assumption is correct.

guess not? I really want to know if I can continue playing this game after it has been beaten. Ala fable or whatever or if I have to go to a previous save such as Fallout3

Yes, it does come in some pieces. You have seperate gloves and boots, but your chest armor covers your shoulders and upper legs.

1. The game ends and there's a playable epilogue. It is story-driven and not free-roaming; when it's over, the game is over.. You get a final save before the big fight and/or before the point of no return. There is no new game+, and the plan so far is that any sequels will not use the character you took through DA:O. The DLC hasn't been finalized yet, but they have a dedicated DLC team and plan to release modules for up to two years if DA:O is successful and if the DLC is successful; the DLC team must be profitable, that is. If you need more confirmation, the old forums are still accessible, though I recommend searching through dragonagecentral.com - it's a compilation of all teh dev posts on the old forum.

2. There are limited respawns and there are random encounters when you travel over the world map. But the vast majority of things stay dead once you kill them. The devs have repeatedly stated that there is no real opportunity for grinding mobs that respawn.

3. Fewer items than Oblivion, but more meaningful. I think KOTOR is probably a good comparison. There will probably be more items than in ME.

4. Blood stays on until area transitions or you get Dog to lick it off. I am not kidding. There may be a toggle for persistent gore; since I really don't care about it, I'm not certain.

5. Any party member who falls during combat falls unconscious. If one member survives, the others will get back up and yes, you see this. Watch the Giant Bomb quicklook for PC for an idea of how it works - the player narrowly avoids a total party kill when one of his redshirt party members barely survives a battle. However, anyone knocked out in battle will suffer from debilitating injuries; the devs and previews have mentioned concussions, broken bones and deep wounds. These injuries have various negative effects, so it's generally a good idea to stay alive.

Im hoping they change their mind on #1. If there is a high level DLC you cant bring and old character through it? Hopefully an expansion will be more like a sequel. If I spend all that time building a character, I'd hope I could use him again.
