And there goes my question....why letting him be the face of mass effect?

Because he was originally just the face, I don't think a movie was in the works when he was chosen.

It's not an april fool's joke. The movie has been announced, but Vanderloo is still not the actor.

You could just always customize your Shepard. So you would not see Mark's face if you don't like him.

the thing is that i do like mark vanderloo, too much in fact. so much, that im not going to see a movie if they put someone else like matthew and is not that i hate matthew fox or something, but i think mark vanderloo deserves the honor of being the principal role on a movie of mass effect :)

Sorry Im still not buying it. "the latter stages of talks for the role" does not mean that he has the job and how the hell is the reliability of "the sources at screen rant." The 1st official news on this movie will not be who the Star is. There still no Director attached, Mark Protosevich still has not said he'd even write a screenplay yet. This movie is still in it's infancy and there's no proof that it will even make it to screen. With that said while Im all for not always picking the obvious choice but there is no way I'd pick a model for the starring role in multimillion dollar Blockbuster just because he looks like the default character.  And in that case why are you not upset they are not casting Mark Meer cause honestly his voice is more important than his look any day of the week.

He's a pretty face. Do not understand the rabid fanboyism...he's not gonna be in a Mass Effect movie.

Yea, but at least with mark meer we have the voice. at least the voice. that's why im complaining, i want the star to have at least some relation with the original mass effect, so the game is not f*cked up totally in the movie.

And yes, i am a mark vanderloo fan, because he is commander shepard and im a fan of mass effect too :)

??? I hate to say this, but I'm not sure Bioware has total say in who acts. . . Now they might be able to protest or encourage this person or that one . . . But picking the cast really lies with the Hollywood movie studio's production crew - casting. . . ???

Casey Hudson and the doctors are executive producers on the movie. It could be a symbolic title but I guess it means they have a lot of say.

Eh?

Why would anyone choose professional model to movie, when they need professional actor. Unless person is both?

im sure he can do both :)...just look at how famous he is, look at any donna karan new york for men advertisement, you have mark vanderlooo there! even for hugo boss and a lot more, like calvin klein, giorgio armani, trussardi, guess and more :P

I'm sorry but I'm not in the habit at looking at advertisements with male models in them let alone knowing who's who in male modeling.

Outside of modeling, he isn't famous at all.  Some people may recognize his face but how many people actually know his name?

Again, with his "acting" skills, they don't seem to be very good at all.

How many people play with the Default Sheppard? Lord knows I dont. Hiring a guy simply because he's the guy on the box art is ridiculous. It's pretty well documented in your thread the guy can't act in English my advice is to drop it And hope that Commander Sheppard will not even be the main Character in the movie.

@MyKingdomCold i don't see your point...you can give him some acting lessons and problem resolved...you dont even need the guy to get ripped or change his image! because he is a model! it's like bioware doesn't want to see a powerful resource for fans that is in front of them.

oh and look, from where i come, most of people here doesn't even know who is matthew fox. even if they watched "Lost"...you know matthew fox because i deduce you like looking in google for information about the movies or series you like or at least looking at the credits at the end (it's what i do).

and yea...i dont see why continuing the debate. it was an april fool's joke and period. thanks god :)

oh, and i still can't understand the "hate?" for vanderloo that some people have, since they use him all the time to play.

i hope someone agrees with me and supports vanderloo like me :)

Sorry for the double post but the difference is Comic Book have been proven as a viable source for movies since 1989's Batman. I think because you have quality directors who have grown up with the source material. Seeing as how we're barely 10-15 years into this golden age of videogame narrative it will probably be another 10-15 years before we get quality videogame movies.
