@MyKingdomCold i don't see your point...you can give him some acting lessons and problem resolved...you dont even need the guy to get ripped or change his image! because he is a model! it's like bioware doesn't want to see a powerful resource for fans that is in front of them.

oh and look, from where i come, most of people here doesn't even know who is matthew fox. even if they watched "Lost"...you know matthew fox because i deduce you like looking in google for information about the movies or series you like or at least looking at the credits at the end (it's what i do).

and yea...i dont see why continuing the debate. it was an april fool's joke and period. thanks god :)

oh, and i still can't understand the "hate?" for vanderloo that some people have, since they use him all the time to play.
i hope someone agrees with me and supports vanderloo like me :)

Getting someone "some acting lessons" does not make them a good actor
, and as far as Matthew Fox's recognizability I think is U.S marketability is what the studio cares about. No disrespect but Studio's basically care about the U.S. Recognizability. As far as the Vanderloo hate, he's a Model as a actor he's not a good one and not as good as Matthew Fox (Period). As I stated before I honestly believe most ME players customize there Sheppard to the point where he no longer look like Vanderloo so your whole "It's the person everyone plays is a non factor.

Well, to be honest, I've always been of the opinion that if they DO make the movie about Shepard they should cast Henry Cavill.  He looks more like Shepard than Matthew Fox, and he's a better actor.  He was almost cast as Batman in Batman Begins, and Bond in Casino Royale, but in both cases the producers felt he was too young.  This shows that he really does have some acting chops, and he's older than when those films were made.  But I'd still prefer it if the movie told some other story in the ME universe...

then the movie will suck with matthew fox ...no elements from the real mass effect, that's nice man! :)
And...mark meer's voice sucks, he doesn't even compare to femshep voice (jennifer hale rocks).

And i didn't say that you always use mark vanderloo as the character, what i meant is that always bioware make "copies" of vanderloo because they dont want to pay mark vanderloo for a damn video that's why they look for dudes that look like him.
if they do what is right they would probably sold more than with their stupid ideas , that's why mass effect sales doesnt go over the 3 million (if you want to see the sales http://gamrreview.vg...ame=mass effect ) and to add more, stupid ideas like making dragon age 2 like mass effect, throwing away everything that made dragon age a different game. :/

I hope they dont do any movie, or if they do one is with mark vanderloo and if it's not with him, they better do one with a femshep, otherwise, it will suck TOTALLY ;)

I don't know what else to say.  Mark Vanderloo isn't even mentioned in the instruction booklet.  Unless someone told me, I wouldn't have known that they based the default male Shepard off of some obscure model.

Why did bioware pick Mark Vanderloo as the default shepard? they treat him like he doesn't even exist...they didn't even think about him on the cast for the movie...i mean, he is the face of Mass Effect literally and why putting him on that place if the are not even going to consider him ?

I mean, they choosed matthew fox for the guy on the movie, because he looks like who? like Mark Vanderloo when he used the bald style with a bit of beard...its ridiculous. I'm not going to see the movie when it comes out. for me, mass effects ends with the 3rd installment. Image IPB

And don't tell me that its because he is no actor ¬¬...dude, everyone can act and even better if he gets a payment, so dont be ridiculous...

Best regards, M4walker.

Mark Vanderloo is a model.  He gets paid for his face.  He's not an actor.   And I'm pretty sure the Matthew Fox thing was a joke.

As far as why they chose him, it would be interesting to hear why from the devs.  If it's like anything else they probably perused a database of models' faces and just picked the ones they thought looked like what they wanted Commander Shepard to look like, finally whittling it down to Vanderloo.  Then it's just a matter of paying him and getting him to sit still for awhile while they capture his face.

Vanderloo is a model & looks hot. They used his face for Shepard. He's not an actor. He probably can act, but remember, using someones face doesn't automatically make them. And what are you talking about?! They haven't even announced who's playing Shepard! I can tell it isn't going to be Vanderloo anyhow.

Also, to answer your question, ^ that's why they chose him. Hotness.

Your obsession with Mark Vanderloo is disturbing... really. I'm not even joking.

Anyways, why would the movie suck if they don't pick Vanderloo? To me it would suck IF they do pick Vanderloo. He has little acting experience and just because he was the face for it does not mean that he IS the choice. As for the rest of your arguments in the quoted paragraph, I could not understand because your English goes downhill at times.

We don't even know if the movie will be about Shepard, they didn't give any facts or cast yet.

He's a Dutch model. He can speak English but to what level of fluency? Would he able to disguise his accent like good actors can? If not, would you want Shepard to have a Dutch accent?

Hold on now. I get that because you're in America and thus the American version had an American accent/English lanuage, you assume that's how Shepard ought to be played, but who's to say that's how it ought to be? I mean, if we're talking vocal accuracy here, then we might as well petition BW to cast the VO actor as the movie actor.

I'll also point out that although you can sense the Dutch in his accent, he speaks english with a great deal of clarity.

It's okay, there won't be a movie. It'll be in development hell, then canceled and shelved.

First of all, I don't think there will ever be a ME movie. 90% of hollywood scripts are bought out of prevention, not production. Vanderloo's face was chosen because it was attractive, but itvstill had an Everyman look. He can't be cast because Shepard is only 29. I use Sheploo as my default only because I can't make a face any more similar to mine. Bioware's face generation makes it impossible to make face generation for generic looking 175 lb. white guys to make a face any closed than that.

Mark Vanderloo is the face of Shepard because it probably cost Bioware about $3.50 to get him. I'm sure they'll get Nick Cage to play Shepard in the film (if it is ever made).

Chris Evans would kill this role. If they aren't getting Mark Vanderloo, then I think getting Matthew Fox because he looks like him is dumb. But idk, Matthew Fox is an actor, he is nothing like his Lost character irl, we will see how it goes.
