I don't understand why people shouldn't be allowed to have a thread looking at the criticisms they have on characters, the same way people make support threads. Some people would prefer to be discussing what they think are criticisms/negative points and get others opinions on the justifications they made.
If I go into a fan thread to ask a negative question, for one its likely to get knocked down and two its just fan opinions what about the opinion of those who aren't mostly in love with the character or who don't like him, those opinions can be just as interesting too.

Because no other squadmate is so much hated as Tali. Except maybe Jacob for his "priiize" line. Which gives me a thought: Tali is just "the priiize" romance option for ManShep. "Heavy risk" is certainly there anyway...

The thing about Jacob is, however, that he actually has both the skills and motive to be on Shepard's tamagotchi squad. He was in Alliance special forces so he knows his way around the battlefield. People hate him because he's "boring." Maybe for a video game character. Lore wise he is exceptionally qualified. The fact that he doesn't have crazy issues is credit to his character. I view stability in my crew to be a good thing.

Tali, on the other hand, is just some random Quarian you save from some SB agents in ME1. She has no military training. I don't see any reason she should be a part of Shepard's team. She's good with ships? Well, why should she leave the engine room to go on missions? Plus, engineers are a dime a dozen. Ken and Gabby had the Normandy SR2 running fine.

There's a negative criticism and there's wanting to kill the character because you find them annoying.

Why shouldn't someone be able to say they find a character annoying? The same why I can talk about how great Garrus is without much justification.

Some people might want to have a deeper discussion and other might just want to just wade in with something silly, either way I don't see how its harming anyone. If it's your favourite character and you know you wont want to hear it, don't go in the thread.

I would agree with you. but if they want to take the character that seriously thats up to them or maybe they're just trying to be humorous, whatever. I'm sure people could find loads of silly comments in support thread too.

Tali is incredibly naive, in ME1 she actually thinks SB is gonna meet her face to face. Shepard saves her, then she tags along. Shepard then gets her stuff for her Pilgrimage (aren't quarians supposed to handle that on their own?).
In ME2 she is pissed you are working for the Cerberus, completly ignoring the fact that no one else decided to do anything about the Reaper/Collector crap. She is obviously not able to see the big picture (she gets irritated if you even mention that quarians tried to commit genocide against all geth, and that it is quarian's fault that the war started in the first place. After that when you bail her out of a charge of treason, she cares only about protecting her dad. If you do give up the evidence against her dad, she gets pissy despite the fact that you just saved her ass from exile and being hated by her entire culture - she cares more about her father than the entire galaxy, because if you do give up the evidence - and help lock up a criminal, she is not gonna speak to you again so why keep her on the squad then?).
When Legion tries to send unclassified data to geth, she wants to kill him. But wait, hasn't she sent "dead" geth parts to the flotilla? She doesn't like Legion on the squad despite the fact that geth and Legion are far more important potential ally than all quarians and their crappy flotilla. Thank god for Harby's precise fireballs.

No, I do too, I don't love all of them, but I certainly find aspects to admire and like in all of them.



I can understand peoples intense dislike for characters, but hate threads and general character bashing is somewhat... juvenile.

On some actual discussion notes: I recently decided I like outing Tali's father to the whole Quarian fleet. What she has to say about following Shepard in that situation I found very interesting and to be honest touching. So while I don't *hate* Tali she does have her moments where I want to throw her out of an airlock. As...does most of the cast to be honest.

To answer the original question, I don't feel too much towards Tali, postive or negative. I don't dislike her though.
She's alive in my playthroughs, not because I want to see her in ME3 I'm not particularly bothered but because I can't even kill the characters I dislike lol. Theres something nice about everybody for me I guess.

Never took her anywhere in ME1 or 2, I just don't find her that useful.

It's not that she hates them, she refuses to see geth did nothing wrong in the Morning War. So what she was raised in that way, she has all the information needed to see the truth. But no, thinking "I am the victim, help me" is much easier than admitting own mistake. Tali is the best example of whiney quarian.

She is the only one yapping about Cerberus being the bad player in all this (I'll loan you a grenade etc.), no other squadmate does that, but without Cerberus she would be stuck on Freedom's progress or Haestrom.

Even the fact that she asks for help to complete the Pilgrimage is against quaraian standard.

Legion wanted to warn true geth, in order to prepare against potential quarian attack, and she wanted to shoot Legion. Has Legion ever threatened her in any way? No, despite the fact that she sent parts of his race to quarians for tests.

I like my whole squad too. There are some I don't like as much as the others but I don't hate any of them. Tali isn't one of my most favorite characters but there are things I like about her.
