True enough, but I've no interest in a flame war either.  If discussion must be had here, I'd prefer it to be civil.  Otherwise, I've pretty much said my say.

I find Tali quit usefull in ME1 and used her as a base team mate.
In ME2 however she is quit useless and she often got my team killed in combat.
I find her more independate and mature then in ME1.

Learn how to use her in combat?

I am not spreading any hate, I just wrote why I do not like Tali and that sometimes I kill her off. Not forcing this on anyone in any way. I don't even hate her per se, I just  find her annoying.

Well you see, Mr. Kroganman.
There is a difference between legitimately disliking a character with legitimate reasons and being a troll. For example, lets say there are two posters that dislike tali. One of them literally posts an essay about why they dislike tali with valid reasons, without insulting anyone, and the other poster says "Lol tali is stupid because
talimancers retards and whiny a lot" and repeatedly posts the ridiculously over used tali headshot banner. Now pretend your a tali fan, which one of these posters do you think has an intellectual level of a peanut and therefore needs to be smacked with a 20 inch stale baguette?

lol @ bold :D

I agree with you, I believe I posted valid reasons (for me anyway) why I dislike Tali/find her annoying earlier in this thread.

Also, I do not find this thread (including OP and title) offensive.

Troodon80 wrote...

We don't bash you for having an opinion, we simply ask that you be respectful about it, don't bash the character and expect not to get some sort of a reaction. If you can't create a thread and be respectful in what you say, whether positive or negative, then don't create it. Doing so will get the reaction that this thread has now gotten.

At the same point, if you dislike a character, it's one thing; Actually hating a character is another, you can do both in a respectful manner, if you so desire, the fact that the OP did not, is the reason why the thread has got the response it has.

Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...

Nothing wrong with hating a character.  Nothing wrong with even killing a character in-game.  Your playthrough, your business.  The problem again is that this thread did not start with a discussion question.  It started with an inflammatory proclamation.  I don't have a problem with the opinion, but rather the manner in which the opinion is addressed.  I am not bashing anybody.  I'm saying picking fights is lame.

*Addendum*  If anybody wants to discuss Tali's flaws in character or design in a civil fashion, I am more than willing to do that.

Again, agreed. I just do not think there is any mindless bashing, OP found Tali annoying and made a thread. (S)he has not said "Tali is lazy and sucks". I have not seen any insults either.

I dislike Jacob a lot( very close to hate him) and I never killed him because I disliked him nor I'm going around saying "Jacob headshot 2.0, he won't be in my ME3 playthrough".

Good for you, but what does that have to do with this thread or Tali? No one is stopping you. Actually, there have been some Jacob "hate" threads on this site. I don't recall anyone coming in and saying "Not cool, close this!". Double standard? No way.

What purpose does an "I wanted to airlock Tali. Who's with me?" thread serve in a discussion forum?  Discussion started but it wasn't for any reasons provided by the OP.  She isn't asking for discussion even amongst people who agree with her.  Such threads prompt drama.  The reason I first posted is because drama had started.  It has since stopped.  I say that inflammatory thread title was a catalyst and it is only through consistent refusal to resort to theatrics that is has been avoided.  Either this is a discussion thread or it is a "I hate Tali" proclamation thread with no purpose but "sign if you agree."

Again, if somebody wants to discuss Tali's flaws I will. I already posted what I think her flaws were and I responded to some at that.

There are other things about the whole Tali situation that bug me as well.  I think some of the writing surrounding her is very poor or else executed poorly.  I can't stand dudeshep's "C'mere, you" line.  It comes off very sleazy to me.  I don't like some of the weird ambiguous behavior in relation to femshep either.

I don't know, maybe (s)he wanted to know if there are more players with similar opinion?

You know, you can say the same ("this is not productive discussion") in any given support thread where 99% of the posts are either pictures or "xyz is so cool...*drools*" posts.

Well, the Garrus thread is pretty much WOT thread and as it's the only thread I frequent, I don't see the problem.  The time I've spent in the newest Tali thread has also had lots of discussion.  In the other case, I actually agree.

I get sick of redundant stuff with no discussion wherever it occurs which is one reason I hardly ever respond to pic posts.   But I've had way, way too many monstrous wall of text offs in character threads to say that they are just spam.

And even if they are vapid, they at least don't promote fighting.

The character support threads establish good will and fan-base unity. They discuss both the good aspects of the characters as well as the bad. There are intelligent discussions regarding storyline, personality, and Species. As such we are expanding the in game universe.

This thread has no other purpose then to incite drama and cause useless character bashing and fighting.

You haven't?

This. The OP. Without giving any feasible or reasonable explanation, either, other than saying she was annoying. And then saying that he/she was glad that she died. That was bound to get a reaction. Surely you, and others, realise that?

Just got finished with my 2nd female shep renegade, and my hatred for Tali was only deepend. I was actually glad when she was the only one that died on the suicide mission. She complained way too much, but didn't really have any character "upside."

And this. To which I say, if this is not meant to be offensive or inflammatory, then I don't know what is.

The only "sword" she was willng to throw herself on was that of Shepard.

"Cut me in half, Shepard! Oh, let me be your space princess! Don't matter you didn't give me that Geth data in ME1 and I wasn't talking to you back then, I'm still soooooo on fire!!!"

Yes you are, Fat Chicken Hips! Burn-burn-burn!!! says I, every time she is incinerated in the Engine Room!

This is a completely disrespectful comment. If such things are actually going through peoples minds, then that is where it should stay. I could easily quote the old "if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all," but really, I advocate freedom of speech, so long as it is respectful.

As I have already said, if any of this could have been put more eloquently, it would have been better received, but in truth, is seems that absolutly no thought for the general community was given in either of them.

Because going around threads or creating them to b*tch about "I hate this character" is stupid and annoying.

Don't like character, fine. You don't have to put "I can't be the only one that wanted to send her out the airlock" title or that image with him/her getting killed.

Also links of threads that aren't locked?

"she complained way too much" => OP does not like Tali; Tali dies => OP is glad.

Seems pretty logical to me. Does OP have to include an essay called "Tali and me: The True Story"?

OP does not like Tali, a lot of other people do. No problem.

The only "sword" she was willng to throw herself on was that of Shepard.

"Cut me in half, Shepard! Oh, let me be your space princess! Don't matter you didn't give me that Geth data in ME1 and I wasn't talking to you back then, I'm still soooooo on fire!!!"

I thought that was comical display of thoughts of the poster.
Tali obviously has a big crush on Shepard, hence the first comment.

Tali is interested in Shepard regardless of your behaviour towards her in ME1 = 2nd comment.

OP likes Tali's death scene = 3rd comment.

I really do not understand how that can offend anyone. Is someone offended by "the priize" videos, pictures, signatures and what not?
No character can ever be universally loved, that's just not possible.

I sometimes kill Tali, because I do not want her to have a major role in ME3. I do not find her interesting or cute. I do think she is childish and annoying, so I do not find it beliveable for her to be major element in ME plot. Simple as that.

Perhaps I have a different view on this, but I honestly do not find this thread insulting at all. If someone posted this in the Tali's support thread, (s)he would get flamed by Tali's fans a lot more than here.

Of course there would be an emotive response because that was an emotive inflammatory post.  If there was civil criticism, there would be a civil response.  I've seen it happen myself.  So the purpose of this thread is just to declare "I hate Tali" or else to list unexplained opinions about her and personal behavior in regard to her?  Just a long stack of such comments?  Well, that's what we are doing.  Repeating over and over "I hate Tali and I airlocked her" and "I didn't airlock Tali.  I think such behavior is juvenile."  This thread is officially fulfilling it's purpose.

Well...I admire your bravery but her fanbase can be rabid and extremely zealous. I made a thread once and showing Tali getting killed and they flipped out. So be prepared to see some of the worst that BSN has to offer when they descend (which it appears that they have).

That said...I don't use here either. I prefer Legion because he has combat drone and AI hacking like she does. Her loyalty power is good on Shepard but otherwise I would rather just take Zaeed for squad disruptor ammo.

And now I'm leaving and not returning because I have no desire for a debate about a character that I find to be annoying and a bit disturbing (she was 17 or 18 in the first game and is all of a sudden 24... I don't think so Bioware).

Let me see if i understand this properly...

You showed imagry of Tali dead. Obviously a hate image. And people got mad.

Thou surly jest?!

Frankly i think that we're already looking at the worst the bsn has to offer when we have hate threads.

Also she's was 22.

Our descent has mostly been of the purely reasonable albeit adamant variety.  How is that any different than the other side?  Exuberance and persistence in a civil fashion do not equal bad behavior.  Insults and mockery do.

And as for the rest, opinion noted along with the rest of the random opinions already listed in this thread.

Good question.  My main point when boiled down has basically been "this thread has no worthwhile purpose in a discussion forum."

Why do I keep posting?  Eh, asinine love of debating.  That's about it.
