I love mass effect 1 & 2 because of its memorable character but sometimes my memories of them make me want to tear of there face.Posted ImageFor me the one character I can't stand is Kaiden. He is so 1 dementional and lifeless and he make me cringe everytime he opens his mouth. Now I ask you, who do you think should and why. Also say if you already killed them.Posted Image
R.I.P. Kaiden, just never come back to my game.Posted Image

Personally for me, I don't believe any of the squadmates should die. I wish I could save Kaidan....so I honor and avenge him by saving everyone on the SM.

None of them. Your squadmates are risking their lives to help you; deliberately killing them is a horrible, horrible reflection upon your Commander Shepard. Killing Kaidan simply because you don't like him is even worse because he is a fellow marine and marines are supposed to support each other, defend each other with their very lives. I've mentioned something similar in another thread but here goes again: anyone that would deliberately leave their CO/fellow troops to die for no good reason does not deserve their uniform or any respect at all. At all. That is something a 12-year-old girl would do in a moment of spite.

Why would anyone be inspired to want to help a Commander Shepard like that?

I think it would really bring home the gravity of the situation if quite a lot of my companions died - not because I don't like them, but because I think it would be far too unbelievable to get a Perfect! in the upcoming battle.  I mean I loved that in ME2 I could do that - but I'd like it if we had a mission like Virmire where one of our companions stays behind to save the rest of us.... AND I'd like that person to have a much more substantial and tragic cutscene that plays out like this (I'd watch from 3:50 right to the end):

Thane.

Don't get me wrong, I love him. But I have this image in my head of him going through with an ultimate heroic sacrifice in the third game, since he's a dead man walking anyway. It would wrap up his arc nicely.

Everyone else, I'd like to survive, though so long as my original team (Garrus/Tali/Wrex/Liara/VS) survives I'll be ecstatic. LI as well, excluding Thane(see above), as that would make his whole story that much more impactful.

I don't want any characters to be forced into a death, but I sure wouldn't mind a couple of Virmire-esque situations in ME3.

TIM is the only one who seriously needs to die. Not because I hate the character, I actually think he's a pretty damn intriguing villain; but because that A hole has it coming for what went down on Akuze.

I don't really want to see any of the squad members die in particular; but Kaiden (RIP: Virmire) and Jacob would top the list since they're just not very interesting.

Jack would follow those two since she was more interesting; but also really pissed me off sometimes.

Grunt would follow Jack even though I liked his character simply because the main thing I liked about him was that he was Krogan and I happen to think the Krogan are pretty badass. Compared to Wrex, Grunt isn't a very interesting Krogan and I think ME3 should add a more interesting Krogan in his place.

Thane would follow Grunt even though I think he's a really interesting character simply because the dude has a terminal illness and if anyone is gonna go it makes sense that it should be him.

PS:  Legion would top the list if he doesn't change going into ME3 since I think his character doesn't have much room for growth as is; but if Legion manifests individuality from the rest of the Geth then he would be a fascinating character, so I left him off the list.

On Horizon I wanted to shoot the human mechanic in his liver. Other than him, no one really pressing comes to mind.

I really think that a lot of people justify Virmire, even if only subconsciously, by making Ashley and/or Kaidan into some sort of terrible, awful character who deserved to die, when all you have to do is actually talk to them to realize that no, they are not one dimensional, whiny, boring, Carth clones, racist, or any of the silly accusations that are usually thrown at them. But because they are disposable, and interchangeable after Virmire, they are unjustly vilified, even more than they would be just by the virtue of being *just* human soldiers.

So, no, I would not do that to any other characters. I don't mind things like the suicide mission, which allows for a perfect mission or losing some teammates, but forcing a choice like Virmire would just be frustrating, since it didn't result in any great emotional scenes, or even more than a throwaway mention in the second game.

Jack followed by Miranda.

Jacob is just kind of there so...meh.

Yes I like Miranda and want her dead. My PCs can't stand her though I like her.

Edit: Followed quickly by Liara. Hell Liara should probably be first. I don't mind her being the center just I hate the buddy buddy my PC is forced to be with her. Just because pscyho Asari is obsessed with Shep doesn't mean Shep won't file a restraining order.

Seriously, why start a thread like this?  Are you such a self conscious teen that you have to hate a character that shows some semblance of emotion and doesn't blast his way through hordes of bad guys.   If you romance KaidAn as FemShep you see plenty of life in him and he is not one dimenSional.

If you don't like a squaddie, then don't have them on your team.   You don't have to talk to them unless they are in the cutscenes.  Just because they are not interesting to YOU, doesn't mean you should hate on them. Grow the F up!

Calm down, while I don't agree with his point of  view it doesn't mean you, or I, have the right to tell him what to do. We should understand that he thinks differently to us. Also, he didn't say anything about Kaiden's emotional aspect, so you saying "Are you such a self conscious teen that you have to hate a character that shows some semblance of emotion and doesn't blast his way through Hordes of bad guys" is irrelevant. I can see why you would make such a large assumption, since that is the general point of view of people that dislike Kaiden.

His opinion is different to yours, and I find his opinion more rational than I would find yours at the moment, since you are making a personal attack on someone for having a differing point of view, and because you are not contributing to this topic at all. You are merely instigating a "flame" war, which is not beneficial to anyone. :police:

Liara. She's the only squad mate that still has plot armor intact. She needs to bite a bullet. It's only fair.

There's some characters that I don't like as much as others but I don't hate any of them. I would prefer to have the option to keep all my squadmates alive throughout ME3 like the suicide mission. So if a character has to die then I want the option to save them. I want to have the best ending possible.

In no specific order: Jack & Jacob. Hey you can get them killed in that final mission? Another reason why i should replay ME2.
