Possibly, no one should be forced to die... but if it someone has to go I'd like that he/she be one of those character "protected by plot armor"...

... it will be so deliciously ironic, after all the "everyone will be NpC except the fews with plot armor!" threads.

None of them. Your squadmates are risking their lives to help you; deliberately killing them is a horrible, horrible reflection upon your Commander Shepard. Killing Kaidan simply because you don't like him is even worse because he is a fellow marine and marines are supposed to support each other, defend each other with their very lives. I've mentioned something similar in another thread but here goes again: anyone that would deliberately leave their CO/fellow troops to die for no good reason does not deserve their uniform or any respect at all. At all. That is something a 12-year-old girl would do in a moment of spite.

Why would anyone be inspired to want to help a Commander Shepard like that?

For the love of all intelligence left in this world, it is a GAME! It's not as if the topic creator is an actual squad leader and is leading his squad into scenarios that get them killed! If you are saying that this person is immoral for wanting to get rid of characters he doesn't like in a game that has no effect on the real world what so ever, then that must mean that because I cheated on my love interest in Mass Effect 1 with my love interest in Mass Effect 2 I am an immoral person. Even though I only did it to create a scenario that I thought would be interesting. Not only that but you insulted the topic creator by calling them a girl which is far more immature and rude than the creating this topic and is sexist (because you are using gender as an insult).

Please, think before you post and learn something I've known since the age of seven: When a bad guy gets shot on a movie and he comes back to life in another movie, doesn't mean you can shoot your friend and expect him to come back to life. Its the difference between fact and fiction.

Edit: What is this nonsense at the bottom of my post?

Shepard needs to die in ME3. Sacrificing himself to save the galaxy and dying Gladiator-style will make the Mass Effect series even more memorable and epic than they already are. It would also make it possible for future games in the ME universe to take place directly after the Shepard trilogy without the lame "oh yeah, he went off to adventure in the outer rim and hasn't been heard of since..." excuse.

I hope this is optional. If he/she wants to die in your game that's fine but in my game almost all my Shepards will be alive with their LI's living with the aftermath of my choices after ME3.

I agree wholeheartedly. Why is it shep has to kill someone or die himself to make it worth it. And leave Kaidan alone, geez.... It takes all kinds to make the world go round. If ya dont like him, dont take him with you.

game or not, you should be able to play the way you personally want to. And its a very immersive game, so players cant be blamed for feeling strongly like this.

I want to see a real soppy, heartbreaking, cry-your-heart-out ending where you see Shepard next to a dying Thane. He's my favorite character of the series and I really want him to go with a bang. I don't want any cure because that just wouldn't be realistic and I don't like all the way happy endings... If Bioware simply gives us a short cut-scene of him dying in a hospital in the beginning of the game I'm going to be VERY disappointed.

I wouldn't say some of them NEED to die - except maybe Jack who really annoys me. Girls with trashy mouths like that get on my nerves.

On the other side, there are a few characters whose survival does not affect me: Kaidan (always had him killed, prefer Ash) and Jacob are first, followed by Samara who is just... not very interesting with her rigid code.

The characters I really want to keep alive are: Wrex, Garrus, Mordin, Miranda, Joker, Grunt.
I do care about Thane but he's not in the list, as he's pretty much condemned.

Actually I think a dead Shepard would be great especially for a game set in the ME universe after his/her death.

That said I have a severe hatred of lose threads.

One of the possible endings is ok. But clearly this shouldn't happen in every playthrough. I said it before, I'll say it again: the whole hero/sacrifice ending has been done so many times... it's getting old.

Read my post again. Read it carefully this time. Do you see the part where I said it was his/her Commander Shepard that was not worthy of respect and not him/her as a player? You're projecting your own defensiveness onto my post. I do not believe what someone does in a video game is indicative of a person's "moral center", and I never said that or implied as such. What I said (if you'll actually read my post) was that a Commander Shepard that did such a thing is a horrible person...and since Com. Shepard is a pixelated image that doesn't actually exist, I insulted no one. So calm the hell down before you blow a gasket.

Well... as for me... after Ashley (male Shepard) spat on me on Horizon (same goes for Kaidan as female Shepard) and making me look like a traitor.. well.. yes.. I want those 2 out of the picture. Nobody spits on Shepards name or makes him / her looks like a traitor!

Ashley and Kaidan... those 2 are annoying jerks!

It says a lot about our characters that people either love them or hate them. Very few, if any of them, are just plain ignored as boring. That said, this thread belongs in the Spoilers or Characters forum. Thank you.

End of line.
