I will be playing it on the console for three reasons;

The first being; the computer I use is shared between myself and two other people, and I spend enough time on it as it is.

The second being; it is not a gaming computer and I do not have the finicial resources to get one or to upgrade.

The third being; I like my Xbox. Sue me. :innocent:

I got DA:O for both the pc and xbox360. I like mods for this kind of game and that's the only reason I got it for the PC. I enjoyed playing it on both pc and xbox 360. DA2 I'm just getting for the 360.

I like the controller and the way it plays on the 360, and the only thing I liked on the pc was hitting the space bar to pause it, and the mods. Lots of hair and some other stuff.

what was your learning curve for the controls on the pc? i went from being a beast in the 360 version to feeling like a complete n00b trying to relearn all the controls.

It does take me a while to remember what button does what. I use the space pause a lot. I almost always have to go in and change settings so that they make sense to me.  W-weapon; M mage;   arrow pointing left turn left, M map.  And I get pulled out of the game a lot more because I have to pause and take time to remember which button does what.

It's the main reason I prefer the 360.  I find it just is more logical for me or easier.  I have no problem wanting things to be easier to use.  I am old enough that I don't care if someone else thinks it's not cool.  :)  But some games I really want the mods so those I use the pc on.   Or in some cases I have them for the pc and the xbox.  Morrowind and Oblivion I have for both.

The other thing I really like about the console is I can play a different game every day if I want to.  On the pc I have to install the game and then if I want to play something else, I would have to get rid of it because I only have a computer that will hold 2 games.

On the console once I've finished a game, I'll switch to something else, then switch to something else, go back to the first one and not have to do anything except put the cd in the right place.  Right now I have a Fall Out 3; A Fall Out NV; ME1 and ME2 game started.  I've played them all through once and just go back and forth depending on my mood.:D

I guess I'm just lazy or whatever, but I really don't like playing DA:O on the PC. I have a moderate to kind of high end PC (I meet all of the recommend reqs of DA2 and play all of my games on the highest settings) but I really don't like playing the PC version. I guess its because the way my station right now is set up, the mouse and the keyboard really throw me off. Other things like its just unnecessarily harder on PC, I'm not a fan of some of the interface decisions on the PC version, the 360 version just seeming easier to maneuver and manipulate, etc. etc. make me not regret my decision. So I'll most likely start on the 360 version.

Well, maybe.... I'm not sure as of yet. I reserved it for 360, but I could always change that. I'm trying to find good arguments right now for the PC version, and despite the price, I can't find too many. I know people complain about the graphics and what not, but really I like them better that way on console. It just seems so much easier and more efficient.

I'll be buying it for the PS3. I rented it the first time I played it, and my first warden was by far my favorite. So I'd like to play it using the import data from that character. I'll probably end up buy the game again on the PC when the ultimate edition is released though.

Me. Since I played Origins on the 360 and I prefer playing on a large TV vs a computer screen.

I'll be playing on the PS3, I prefer the controller as I've grown to dislike the keyboard/mouse with the heat of a thousand suns (j/k), lol. Actually though, while I will be mainly using my PS3, I am considering buying a laptop to take with me during my commute to work. I thought it was about time to check out some of these cool mods.

I will not be playing on the console for the reasons:

1. That I want access to modifications (and to build them) if BioWare allows us to.
I say if they allow us to, as there is not guarantee that they are definitely updating the toolset for comparability with DA2 (though I really, really hope they do).
2. PC version is likely to have better graphics (and even if not, can be made to look prettier with AA etc.).
3. PC version is cheaper (at least in the UK).
4. I generally prefer PC gaming to console gaming.

I agree!
You listed exactly the reasons why I'll be playing on PC, too.

I agree with Ymladdych on a point of console gaming is growing in numbers and soon PC games will be rare. I am a console woman..however; there is one game that will NOT be on console that i will submit to playing on PC when it comes out, and that's Diablo III. And I definately will need to buy a better desk!
I built my computer to be a monster gaming machine, so graphics..not a problem.

There are just some games that are made for PC and some that are for console.

same here my computer is eagerly awaiting d3 so much fun to be had on the pc games just think that some games that are made in  trilogy see masseffect series that they shold be done on a console  since most timkes you will end up spending more on new say grapic card only to find out that it need new powersupply to run it  like say 600+wats when you have  a 500 watts:innocent: to run that video card

Me, I'm getting the 360 version.  or the PS3 if I had one.   I'm saving my computer till TOR comes out and thinking about that.  Not totally sure yet since is't on line and there will be other people, but I'll wait and see.

Okay what is this bull**** false information? Consoles have some nice perks no doubt about it (price duh) but PC will always be better.

1) You say graphics are better on consoles... so when did 360 and PS3 get DirectX 11?

2) Gamepad verses keyboard + mosue is y'know your opinion man. Don't shove your bias down other people's throats and expect them to like it 100% like an idiot. And besides there's a reason why RTS dont' work on consoles (*cough* Halo Wars).

3) So upgrading a PC = buying a completely new one huh? Sure if your PC is like stone age crap. This is just a bunch of bull**** false information bred into you console-gamers.

4) Oh boohoo you have to spend money on upgrading graphics cards. You must be a person who whines everytime Nintendo releases a new handheld console update and how you can't play the lates Pokemon game because the cartridge is tiny.

WOW what  way to take my  post completely out of context i believe the new Xbox update  when you update on live gets directx 11 since i noticed after a update the graphics was more cleaner and everything looked  crisp

2} a gamepad is alot better to control then keyoard mouse since you have to watch  your finger to know the out lay of the  key board w,s,a,d and using q,e to straffe is alot more harder then using the game pad that you can plug in the game  so you dont have to use the key board to use simple walking then just secondly  never played halo in any format of the game to date

3} nope its not crap go check your bios tell me what it says and then walk your butt down to a computer repair person you know the ones that help you  when you crap something on hardware that you thought worked when you didnt know about the new pci: 2.0express slots that was just introduced  as  of 2 years ago you will not be able to run that computer if you bought  say 3 years ago sorry what was that about stone age. yes i see you just failed  at learning

4 oh boo your self i rather not waste 1.200 on  the best card to date only to find out that my games wont work with  and yes i do know pleasure of buying a  computer  since now there not that expensive but  i rather  have a console that can  just run about anything under the sun see cyriss{ sp} my computer can run it just fine. and whats this of nintendo i dont play that crap game system at all.... here something to show you what i know about consoles... do you remeber the atari consoles.

so yes you are  wrong on all accounts if you  want bleeding edge graphics and can afford to do then get pc  ut you  tend to spend more on  your pc if you need something to run it then anything,,, oh and one thing i learned about consoles.. they really inexpensive to date and i have the old xbox, and the old version of the xbox360..

I think I'll play it on my PS3. I doubt my laptop could run DA2. :(

I hope there's some way to import the DA:O and Awakening save games from PC to PS3 (that is, assuming there will be any savegame import at all).

You can't be serious?

1) Xbox 360 can only go to DirextX 10 due to the fact DirextX 11 is onyl available for Windows 7, you fail here buddy; PCs will always have superior graphics.

2) Umm,  I'm pretty sure you can ask any PC Gamer and I garuntee they will say that they don't pay attention to their mouse or keyboard while playing. It's called memorizing, y'know like what you do on a gamepad? Except that apparently you can't handle more that 4-8 buttons at most.

3) My PC is 5 years old, I update it every 2-3 years, and I don't have to spend 500+ on said updates. Sure you can accumulate this but no sane person (unless they have the money) will always update their video card everytime a new one comes out. And as for PCI 2.0 slots, there's something called a motherboard update? And I'm pretty sure said motherboards comaptible with PCI 2.0 can work with PCI 1.0 and whatnot.

4) Sure consoles are cheaper than PCs, that's their main lure right? Fact of the matter is, that consoles will never surpass PC graphics-wise, processor-wise, hard drive-wise, basicall in anything other than cost.

So no, I haven't failed in my argument? Why? Because I've successfully countered all your points on your original post:

I myself am a console player, only ever played one game on PC and thats Origins. I really do prefer console, but Origins is very much designed for the PC, i did not enjoy it at all on my 360. Plus the fact that there are many, many mods being regularly released, the PC version is definitely ALOT better than the console version.

However, since DA2 is going to be alot more optimised for the consoles, i've been thinking i may get it for my 360 instead of my PC. But then there's the fact that the PC version will have a **** tonne of mods, and the gameplay isn't exactly intense (I prefer slower, more tactical games on the PC; and faster, more intense games on my 360).

Anyway, i'm very split on which version to get. For those who are buying the console version of DA2, why?

I was in your shoes  a few weeks back  i love my xbox  and i own Dragon age for both my xbox and  pc hands down the PC owns it looks  4x better the xbox copy looks horrible and the gameplay  is about 3 times greater so get it for the pc and  i never seen it said the game is opimised for consoles any were

Xbox according to ATI can't support DX10 let alone DX11 you unimformed xbot.  And no, i don't need to spend 1.2k just to get a good graphic card. Hell the xbox's GPU power is roughly equal to that of a 7800GT and there are cards under $200 thats more powerful than that.

*lol* Thank you for the first hard laugh of this still young year. A DirectX upgrade by software alone... great. Damn, why did I buy a GTX 460 (which cost me half of your 360, btw) half a year ago instead of simply upgrading my old board's BIOS?

Sorry, but you should really get your facts straight before posting stuff like that.

I'll be getting it for both. I played Origins through at least 6 times (yes, I lost count) on my Xbox 360 and have several game saves that I wish to see the effects of in DA2. I am working on playing through on the pc currently, and so far love it (far superior in graphics and tactical control over the console version, not to mention some awesome mods available). I'll be building a new high end gaming pc (hooray for tax returns!) right before DA2 comes out, so I am looking forward to running the game on all highest settings on the new setup. If I had to pick just one though I'd go with console because of my save files and the controller. Being able to sit on the couch and play is moot for me as my gaming pc will be hooked up to the same tv as my 360. With DA2, the Witcher 2, and The Elder Scrolls V, this is an awesome year for building a new gaming pc :D

My computer is not meant for gaming, and I'm not about to change that when I have a perfectly good Xbox360 for use. It's not worth shelling out the extra (nonexistent) money for a brand new one just to play a single game, although I'm sure many will argue otherwise.
