WOW what  way to take my  post completely out of context i believe the new Xbox update  when you update on live gets directx 11 since i noticed after a update the graphics was more cleaner and everything looked  crisp

2} a gamepad is alot better to control then keyoard mouse since you have to watch  your finger to know the out lay of the  key board w,s,a,d and using q,e to straffe is alot more harder then using the game pad that you can plug in the game  so you dont have to use the key board to use simple walking then just secondly  never played halo in any format of the game to date

3} nope its not crap go check your bios tell me what it says and then walk your butt down to a computer repair person you know the ones that help you  when you crap something on hardware that you thought worked when you didnt know about the new pci: 2.0express slots that was just introduced  as  of 2 years ago you will not be able to run that computer if you bought  say 3 years ago sorry what was that about stone age. yes i see you just failed  at learning

4 oh boo your self i rather not waste 1.200 on  the best card to date only to find out that my games wont work with  and yes i do know pleasure of buying a  computer  since now there not that expensive but  i rather  have a console that can  just run about anything under the sun see cyriss{ sp} my computer can run it just fine. and whats this of nintendo i dont play that crap game system at all.... here something to show you what i know about consoles... do you remeber the atari consoles.

so yes you are  wrong on all accounts if you  want bleeding edge graphics and can afford to do then get pc  ut you  tend to spend more on  your pc if you need something to run it then anything,,, oh and one thing i learned about consoles.. they really inexpensive to date and i have the old xbox, and the old version of the xbox360..

so all i can say to you YOU ARE WRONG. and have failed to present a good argument

While I don't normally get involved in this platform war stupidity but your are wrong on a lot of your points.  A gamepads usefulness as an interface is soully reliant on the genre of game being played. Sports games (like FIFA, NHL etc) work incredibly well with a gamepad while a keyboard/mouse can feel clumsy. However when it comes to games like Dragon Age and FPSs personally I think the precision, speed and customizability of keyboard and mouse far out way its short comings as a control method. In fact I know a few 'console' gamers that have started PC gaming and they find that, after practice, the keyboard and mouse is far more natural.

The newest graphics card interface standard was released well before the new generation of consoles were released and the majority of motherboards shipped today have x16 PCIE 2.0 as well as the smaller PCI1.0 interface for things like audio interfaces. Before this design change AGP was the standard and that was around for a significant amount of time. To use a standard interface evolution, one that has been around for significantly longer the your XBox360 or PS3, as an argument smells a bit hypocritical to me.

The last point is simply a miss truth that gets thrown around a lot. A decent gaming PC will not set you back more than any of the consoles at their release price. And as technology progresses on the PC platform during a consoles lifespan that same price will get you significantly more powerful systems compared to the consoles. 1200 is not the going price point for even high end graphics cards. 150 is probably your sweet spot for price/performance. Also I have never had game braking problems with newer card models. BG1+2 run as well as they ever have, KoToR can be abit iffy but playable. All my games run and i have acquired a lot of games over the years, new and old.

Say you prefer consoles but don't bring up baseless anecdotes about a platform you obviously have no clue about. It will just annoy people and when it comes down to it the 'best' gaming platform is the one you enjoy playing games on. Whether that's in front of a television or at a desk. Gamepad or mouse/keyboard.

Um i have windows vista and  i have Direct X 11 if  that was so  my GTX 460 would not work on my PC

Sorry, thank you for correcting me.  I tend to forget Vista sometimes since I disliked it very much (as did many others). And in addition to the hassle of going to XP to Vista to XP again then to 7

My PC would explode if I tired to play DA:O on it and because it's a mini tower, it's hard to get certain upgrades for it, like Graphic Cards.

So I have little choice but to play on consoles, despite liking things like mods and such.

I'd actually prefer to purchase this game for the PC since I only ever played DA:O. It's safe to say I'm definitely a console and PC kind of girl. However, since I will be away at college during the game's release date and won't have access to a high performance computer, I'm going with the 360. I never move anywhere without that thing.

I'll probably end up getting DA2 for PC eventually anyways. Happened to me for both ME1 and ME2. I'm hoping the graphics will be reasonable on the console. I mean, I don't exactly want to look like I'm playing pac-man but, I know the console won't be able to handle v-sync, 16x anti-aliasing and other mumbo jumbo you can only experience on the PC.

xbox, just because i like talking to friends while playing games.

From what i understand their may not even be mods this time around for Dragon age 2 and seeing as its going more for a action rpg style i'd prefer using a controller :P

That depends. If you build a new PC instead of buying a cnsole, then yes. However, over the next three years or more years you will spend lots more money for console games than for PC games; the more console games you buy, the difference between the PC plus games and the conolse system plus games becomes. In the end you might even spend more for the whole console experience. Think long-term, not only the initial costs.

I'm gonna play DA2 on my xbox360. First, I bought the first on xbox, and I want to import the decisions I made here. Second, my new netbook can't support DA2 (but I'm ok with this, I prefer using computer to chat, study, and go to internet than to play). Third: I'm a fan of the pad, and from what I read there isn't the possibility to play DA2 on pc with the pad.

I never play games on the PC for the same reason I don't play Chess.  There's too much to think about.  I am someone who just prefers acting rather than thinking.  Remembering which buttons use which abilities really kills the action for me.  Not to mention, using a mouse just feels weird to me.  In fact, the recent changes to the gameplay that allow for a bit of hacking and slashing has been a bit of good news for me.  Don't get me wrong, I still love RPGs and love thinking about the best ways to equip my character, but I prefer combat to be more visceral than tactical.

So to answer your original question, I will be getting Dragon Age 2 for the Xbox 360.

PC.  I'm always better at everything on the PC.

Someone gave me DA:O for the 360, but I never even finished it once there.  Just the PC version like 8 times.. if not more.

I have a PS3 and 360, but I think I will stick with the PC on this one.

Though the lazyboy is so much more comfortable than my computer chair.  ;)

360 first, since I have siblings that want to play it eventually.

PC when I can get it on sale somewhere down the road, since it's my preferred version for this style of RPG.

Mouse and keyboard are the superior control scheme for practically every kind of game. Computer allows modability.

I certainly see no point in playing it in a console. Though that might also be because last console I owned was a NES 8 bit.

I got DA:O for both the pc and xbox360. I like mods for this kind of game and that's the only reason I got it for the PC. I enjoyed playing it on both pc and xbox 360. DA2 I'm just getting for the 360.

I like the controller and the way it plays on the 360, and the only thing I liked on the pc was hitting the space bar to pause it, and the mods. Lots of hair and some other stuff.

what was your learning curve for the controls on the pc? i went from being a beast in the 360 version to feeling like a complete n00b trying to relearn all the controls.

It does take me a while to remember what button does what. I use the space pause a lot. I almost always have to go in and change settings so that they make sense to me.  W-weapon; M mage;   arrow pointing left turn left, M map.  And I get pulled out of the game a lot more because I have to pause and take time to remember which button does what.

It's the main reason I prefer the 360.  I find it just is more logical for me or easier.  I have no problem wanting things to be easier to use.  I am old enough that I don't care if someone else thinks it's not cool.  :)  But some games I really want the mods so those I use the pc on.   Or in some cases I have them for the pc and the xbox.  Morrowind and Oblivion I have for both.

The other thing I really like about the console is I can play a different game every day if I want to.  On the pc I have to install the game and then if I want to play something else, I would have to get rid of it because I only have a computer that will hold 2 games.

On the console once I've finished a game, I'll switch to something else, then switch to something else, go back to the first one and not have to do anything except put the cd in the right place.  Right now I have a Fall Out 3; A Fall Out NV; ME1 and ME2 game started.  I've played them all through once and just go back and forth depending on my mood.:D

yeah i guess what throws me off is that you can move with both the mouse and the keyboard and i'm not exactly used to that, even playing some mmos - it's usually one or the other. that and both mouse buttons actually do something instead of having 1 buttons for the general investigate/action button.

which is really weird - it was easy to learn the controls for NWN or KOTOR in comparison....

it's really not - i'm saying this as someone who loves consoles and pcs, plays regularly on both platforms and can compare between DAO on console versus pc. sure, whatever you learn first will be the "best" but generally speaking, learning controls for a gamepad is *easier*. mouse and keyboard allow for better multitasking but can be overwhelming if you aren't used to it. a PC player will have an easier time getting used to a console version than a console player trying to learn all of a pc's controls.

PC. I like the controls for this game far better on PC. That and I am a chronic toolset user always making new looks and using other peoples mods too. I like that freedom.

I would like to use PC but due to the fact I own four apple computers I don't think I can play it. BUT I have a PS3 and that's how I got hooked originally and epically so.

Look what you get, though.

First, we're comparing a PC + monitor to a console + television.  That price difference isn't very large.

If you add in that you want to mod the game or the hardware, the console becomes more expensive as you'll now need two of them (one to mod, the other to go online).  I'd say that pushes the price of the console higher than the PC price.

Only if you're willing to lose features can the console be cheaper than the PC.

This is too value-laden a way to frame the issue (for example, it assumes that the increased complexity of a PC is good).

You can compare a CPU straight up to a console. The CPU has added information cost (you have to learn about hardware, learn about what hardware works better). You then have to either shop for deals, or build a computer yourself (which has tremendous information cost). It may even require practical dexterity that some people lack.
