PS3.

Why?

Because I want to, don't get me wrong, I CAN play on the PC, it's just that I hate the Birds eyes view camera.

...But mods are amazing no?

I don't have a console. And I've become rather attached to camera control with a mouse. When I first bought AA, I thought I would need to use a controller as it was essentially a console game with heavy combat. But I simply cannot stand controlling the camera with a hat button, for any game.

I'm primarily a PC gamer, this time around I'm heavily leaning towards just renting DA2 for my Xbox or PS3 though. Then again I might just pick it up to play on my laptop at work. Soo.. undecided, I suppose.

I will be playing on my Xbox 360 first and then on PC. My wife is getting the PC version and will be hogging the computer for awhile when it launches, that gives me the option to either use the 360 and the television or file for a divorce....

I'm playing on the 360 for the sole reason that I can't afford to be upgrading my PC every 6 months to something that will run the most current games available. I realize I'm not getting the 'optimal' gaming experience, but then again, I tend to play Bioware games for their story and not their gameplay.

I should advice you that the "6 months upgrade to keep up HNNNG" myth is a myth only. My computer is from 2008 Mid-High end and it runs everything maxed there is these days. It's not as expensive as it seems at all. This computer will last me till the end of this console gen and some way into the next. I love it.

I'm pretty tired of listening to people using that 6 month upgrade bull**** as an excuse for being a console gamer. If you prefer consoles then by god say so instead. Just don't spread lies and **** about PC gaming please. The only people to upgrade all the time are the Overclock enthusiasts and all they do is foam over specs and spend loads doing so. Don't spread false facts, thanks.

I respect your preference (i myself much prefer the couch in platformers, sports, racing games) but not the reason you gave here since it's based on ignorance.

What you say is true, to an extent.

PCs are more expensive than consoles, that's fact.  Yes, you can go pay $800 for a mid-high end PC tower, and yes, it will be able to handle most anything the gaming world comes out with for 3-4 years with no problem.  But for some people, that's a lot of money.

And if someone buys a lower end PC - or one that simply doesn't have the upgradeability of a higher end machine - in the $400 range, they will find themselves unable to run games on max settings within a year or so - and likely, within 2 years, unable to run most games.

So while what you say is true, what you complain about is also true.  It depends a lot on what you get to begin with.

Except, this has nothing to do with the argument. Even if it doesn't run anything at max, pure logic should tell you that it will be able to run anything the consoles can at better settings and better resolution. so performance will not become an issue to me untill far into the next console gen. Yes, it's more expensive, but with the price you get choices that the console doesn't let you make. You get mods, Video settings, custom controls, ability to use Controller if you want and so forth.
My pc is more powerful than both my consoles. therefore it will outlast them both.

For me there are games for the PC and there are games for the Console, no matter how multi-plat-formed they are. Dragon age is a PC game, I don't care what they are doing to make it more console friendly. But on the other hand, Mass effect is more of a console game, but I still got it for PC...you know what I mean ><

It actually does have something to do with the argument.
If you buy a low end PC, it will have a last gen or very poor current gen video card.  It will have a low end processor.  It will likely have limited expansion ports.  In short, it will not be an optimal computer for gaming.  So yes, it will play most games, even if at lower settings, for a year or 2.  But it will quickly get to the point where the processor and the video card can't keep up.  The RAM will be too low.  And if it's not upgradeable, then like I said, you've now got problems.
For some people, cost IS a big issue.  A PS3/XBOX 360 for $299, or a mid-high end PC for $899 - you're talking 3 times the cost.  That's a big deal to a lot of people.  Even a lower end PC is more money, but as I'm sure you know, that low end PC will have limited upgreadeability and be underpowered in a few years.  The PS3 and the 360 will be viable until they change that system, and will certainly still play existing games forever, and early games will also be playable on the old system for a while as well.

You can't eliminate cost in this equation.  Do some people make it sound like more of a problem than it is?  Of course.  The laptop I bought last year will be viable for another 5 years for gaming, at least.  The system you have, you're confident will be viable for another 4, on top of the 2 you got out of it.  Clearly, you could afford that, as could I.  Some people can't.

Hahaha I kid I kid. Honestly though, I will be playing on both and she on the PC. She can't play on the console after playing on PC. Me? It doesn't bother me much either way.

Playing it on the PC.

I have a First Generation 360 and all the games look crappy on it.

MY PC is strong enough to run it.

I am going to play it on console, only because my darn desk lacks a comfortable factor for my arm and wrist. I don't have the money to go out and buy a new desk, so I'm choosing console for now.
Also, I wanted to ask.... The PC version lets you put all of your skills in hotbars, but the console version does not. You have to be very choosey on which skills you opt to put on your hotbars that revolve. Did they happen to change that?
I would definately miss lounging on my bed with my soft pillows and my surround sound to boot.
There is nothing like listening to Dragon Age in 5.1 Surround, while looking at a 42 inch Plasma and laying on your bed.

Same here! Laying in bed and playing Dragon Age on my big screen television while drinking coffee is like heaven.

Where did that myth come from?

I have a 360 but a great many of the games look terrible.  My computers are homebuilt and I can run anything and it doesn't cost that much to build one to be able to play games.

I respect people's choices but when people outright LIE, it really ticks me off. <_<

Simple solution. you learn to build them. Anybody can build a decent gaming PC if they set their mind to it and its cheaper to build than to buy and you even get better quality than what you can buy.

I for one don't want to spend $299 for every generation 360 console that comes out.

Note that this is only true for a prebuilt low-end PC, especially ones from the major manufacturers. It's easy enough to get low-end components that don't limit upgradeability.

OTOH, anyone who is contemplating building a PC in the first place is almost certainly committed to PCs anyway.

console to me is just for exclusive games, if a game has the pc version, I can not find a reason not to play it on PC, every aspect of a gaming pc is superior than console

I played the PC games a loooong time ago when Neverwinter Nights, Diablo, Icewind Dale, Everquest and World of Warcraft were my choices. I have a huge bin of PC games that I still go back to every now and then. The problem now is, I'm not in my 20's any more, my wrist hurts, my neck hurts, my chair is unbelievably uncomfortable on my bum, even with a pillow, my eyes burn after a while..and my desk sucks.

Like Ray Ramano said on David Letterman, "I have bruises that I have no idea where I got them from... I think it's my wife that hits me in the middle of the night." lol.

That's how I feel...(except if MY husband hits me..I hit back) lol.

Anyhoo, it's all in a preference...I'm a console woman. :)

Actually its not about committment, I prefer building my own as does my husband.  I like to know whats inside my computer. Those cheap low end PCs are built with garbage parts.  And most medium to high end machines are   over priced.

We have a 360 too and use it for some games but they don't look as nice as they would on a PC.

This one is easy for me. I'll be playing DA2 on the same platform I play DA:O on, the 360. I currently don't have a PC good enough to game with, and until I can find a job it's likely to remain that way for some time.

I see your point. I am definitely more comfortable playing some games on ,my console.  I am also not in my 20s and I enjoy PC gaming. I never get sore.
