We can deduce this from a some solid thinking. Well, one, of course, we all know the inconclusive and extremely lacking encounter with the VS at Horizion. Bioware OBVIOUSLY has something very special planned for Ash/Kaidan fans. They will get their time.

We can see also that Liara was the main character in LOTSB, she got her spotlight. Granted, it was to progress the story, but that doesn't take the prior fact out. She was in the limelight there. These are some clear indicators where the DLC is headed.

Lastly
, and this is the most important, notice the description of ME3.

"Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying
machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander
Shepard,
an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to
rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to
take back the Earth in this third entry in the epic intergalactic RPG."

An "alliance marine"? Developers and publishers are careful and note exactly what they put out concerning their IPs and as well as videogames. EA and Bioware are no different. This is very telling, that between now and ME3, something will happen where Shepard will find his way back into the Alliance. The next DLC will focus on this matter, and Ashley/Kaidan will be involved, and it will be glorious.

You'll see ;)

Well, yeah, that's pretty much what everyone is assuming, actually. Such a DLC would make the perfect finale for ME2.

The original promo materials for DA2 also called Hawke the most important person in the history of Thedas, which David Gaider (the head writer) took issue with and claimed to be a bit of an exaggeration. I wouldn't read too much into a single sentence.

That would be ideal, yes. I'm also wondering if the Ashley or Kaidan DLC could possibly shine any light on the reasons as to why Shepard has dropped off the grid during the events of Retribution.

I'm hoping she's hiding out at the Shadow Broker Base with Liara.

In ME1&2 Shepard never stopped to be an Allinace marine. He is a bit AWOL now, that's all.

That's not very likely, Ash or Kaidan are going to play major roles in ME3, I agree, but in DLC content.. I don't think so. They already did this with Liara and look how this turned out. Ash and Kaiden had a lot wider scenarios they simply won't fit in single DLC.

And talking about Alliance, firstly something should happen with Cerberus just to give a reason to reunite the alliance. Maybe Reapers will attack Cerberus first and after destruction or retreat you eventually will have to join Alliance.

Actually Zulu, if Shep is declared KIA by the Alliance then yes, s/he has stopped being an Alliance marine.

EDIT: a VS DLC would also be the ideal time to release the M-7 Lancer Assault Rifle. After all the DLC would be Alliance-based, and the M-7 is an alliance rifle that you begin ME1 with. PLUS it would mean that Bioware could re-balance the M-8 Avenger (to make it no longer useless) without actually editing the Avenger. If you get my drift.

Shepard says during Tali's loyalty mission that (s)he's technically no longer in the alliance.... I think?

That was until Shepard was revitilized, which essestially made that KIA declaration a bureaucratic error. Currently, Shepard is AWOL.

He is a marine and a spectre, at least on my paragon run. (Andersson telling Udina to go back to his room lol)

To my understanding both the alliance (Andersson) and the concil (saved) agreed to give back Shepard his spectre status with the understanding that he will remain in the attican traverse and to keep an eye upon cerbrerus,

Andersson also agreed upon this becouse he needed also shepard to investigate the lost conolies and to put a stop on the collector treath.

So shepard is a spy both for the alliance and the council and will not be arrested after ME2 events, instead he will have crippling evidence and information about Cerbrerus both the council and the alliance have sought after.

I think she says something along those lines, yes -- when the quarians refer to her as Captain.

I hope this comes up, and I hope we have the choice to stick with Cerberus or go back to the alliance.

however, a lot of people seem to be missing one big thing:

There is about a 90% chance that Cerberus is just the special forces/covert operations division of the Alliance.

There has been ample evidence suggesting this both in ME1 and ME2, more than enough threads detailing why this is likely.

Plus it makes sense story wise.

So yeah, Im not saying the final epic DLC won't be about getting close to the alliance again, I'm just saying that there is a strong possibility that we will have the chance to stick with Cerberus if we want, because there is an equally strong possibility that Cerberus IS Alliance.

Are there really that many ash/kaiden fans? They always struct me as the least popular of the ME1 companions. While i would get the DLC i don't think i'd rush out and get it.

In ME1 they did say that Cerberus was a rogue alliance black ops group, i always assumed that this was a mistake. It would be interesting if it was right all along.

I wouldn't put it nearly so high.  I highly doubt it, actually.  Lots of backroom ties, blackmail and infiltration of the Alliance, yes.  Being some actual and formal, but super-ninja-secret, part of the Alliance government? No.  At this point, I even doubt Kahoku had that whole "rogue black-ops" thing quite right.  Oh, there likely were some people in the Alliance that did that, but I don't think they were the original Cerberus cell.  My hunch is it was more that Cerberus already existed and talked some black-ops people into joining the cause, and that it was a turning point for the organization.

God, I hope not. Ash/Kaiden are boring as hell and would seem like a waste of a DLC.
