I could see it happening. Give some closure to fans of those two + further set up ME3,  and make some monies off it.

Even if this isn't the next DLC, I would think there would be at least 1 more big story based module.... If for no other reason than to keep buzz built up and to get the new PS3 ME2 owners to open up their wallets again, since most of the current DLC will be on the disc for them.

Look, Lair of the Shadow Broker obviously catered to fans of Liara--to fix things that were wrong with her in ME2-- but it succeeded as a DLC because it gave her character development, it got people interested in her who weren't before (like me), and it had an overarching story that tied in beautifully with the ME universe.

This is what I would want to see with Ashley and Kaidan involved in an DLC. Yeah, obviously if they're included in DLC, BioWare would be catering to some fans, but a DLC focusing on a date at the Citadel with them obviously wouldn't sell well with the majority of gamers. That's why there should be an overarching story focusing on the Alliance that includes Ashley and Kaidan, since they are obviously Alliance Marines.

Edit: and people, if you want Kaidan and Ashley included in DLC, click on my signature and join the group.  That, and contribute ideas in the Kaidan and Ashley DLC Wishlist thread in the Official Campaign and Story forum.

Never said I hated either of them.  I liked them both enough to pursue their romances in most of my play-throughs. :)

Maybe I need to elaborate. My opinion (based on very little investigation) was that people were chomping at the bit for a DLC pack to focus on the exploits of the VS.  I still don't feel that this would be a good use for an entire DLC pack, and my opinion on that won't change.  Maybe I was a tad harsh on A&K's back stories - but I think we know enough from having spoken to them in ME1, to make further expansion on the subjects wasteful in the greater scheme of things.

I haven't read the pages and pages of why/when/how the VS could be incorporated, and for that I'm sorry - I didn't mean to offend.

I'll do some research later. :)

i think, personally that it'll give you the choice on whether to get rid of cerberus or rejoin them, if it does involve the alliance you can probably except an admiral hacket cameo.

Why focus so much of the DLC on TWO squad members? I have no problem if they're are PART of a DLC pack, but I fail to see how Ashley or Kaidan are deserving of an entire DLC pack. Neither of them have particularly interesting back stories, and I'm struggling to see how focusing on either of them will bridge the main story between ME2 and ME3.

Help me out here.

I agree if when they do bring out this new DLC and it involves Ashely or Kaidan, I doubt it will be completely focused on them, since the Shadow Broker DLC wasn't just about Liara. ^_^

Nah, the standard is set with Lair of the Shadow Broker. I don't see how they can regress back.

Well, IMO, LotSB was of better quality than most (if not all) of the DA DLC, so I doubt it would be that bad

I dunno what about people who ended the Renegade path and allowing Cerberus the Collector Ship...where does that go? Like here ya go, later dude. I don't think the Illusive Man is quite done just yet

If they only plan on doing one more DLC, which seems likely to me after reading that Cerberus Daily News update, I hope it's a more substantial expansion-pack type deal that ties up a lot of loose ends in preparation for ME3.

The next dlc is going to be horse armor. Dammit.

I'm obviously hoping for it to feature Ash and Kaidan in some way, but I dont' fully expect it to be all about them. I feel like there is so much to explore with Shepard's relationship to the Alliance and the back door politics with that etc. etc. There's a lot of mystery surrounding the Alliance and Cerberus, Anderson, Hackett and Ash or Kaidan. It just seems like something that would make sense to wrap up before heading into ME3 since it wasn't properly addressed in ME2.

Also, Brody mentioned that Liara had a significant amount of character development in LotSB and she did. But not only that, but Shepard had a of development. Throughout ME2 I found Shepard to be a hollow shell, just a tool to tell the story of the game. He was not a character...at all. They completely failed at making him seem like a real person most of the time. Then I don't know - in SB he kind of came alive in the same way he was in ME1 and that made me very happy. So I'm hoping this new dlc has more of that as well.

DLC about Wrex would be awesome! Wrex + Grunt + Shepard = Ultimate Death!

unlikely since not everyone has Wrex.

Hehe, sorry, "hate" was too strong of a word, but I assumed from your post that you didn't like them.  They get a lot of hate, so it's easy to assume sometimes.

I don't think people are asking for a DLC that revolves around the VS, but rather an Alliance related DLC that features them in an important role.  Lots of Ashley and Kaidan fans miss working for the Alliance, or at least want closure on their status with the Systems Alliance.  It just makes sense to have Ashley or Kaidan be a part of any DLC dealing with that.

As long as the DLC is as big or bigger than Awakening I'll be happy.

In LotSB there was some good dialogue too, especially during some of the fighting LOL  It was a great DLC, best one of ME2.

I hope if they do a VS DLC that it is as good.

I reckon it's going to be a very substantial DLC especially if it is indeed a prelude to ME 3. I've been too focused on other things going in my life as well as playing other games so I've missed a bit such as the announcement.

I'm finally chilling out and listening to the Mass Effect 2 ost.

I distinctly remember in ME2 the option to officially remain KIA as well as Shepard explaining to some quarians that he wasn't even in the Alliance anymore. I also recall the option to jump in bed with Cerberus and really screw the Alliance over big time.

I wouldn't put too much faith in whatever they have on the "back of a box" that doesn't even have its official artwork going for it yet. And even if that remains the official synopsis it'll likely only apply to those starting with default Shepards or those new to the ME franchise.

Anyway, my two cents.

hmm I don't remember the option to remain KIA. I do remember there was an option to tell the Quarians that he wasn't a Captain that I didn't choose. I also remember the chance to more or less side with Cerebus.

First talk with Bailey, renegade options (I hope this doesn't count as spoiler?). As I remember, talking to Charon before this Shepard says that s/he "was declared as missed in action" (hence, MIA) and Bailey offers to change this status on security shecks on "alive" and Shepard refuses, saying to leave everything as it is and just turn off alarm.
