THAT is why Sole Survivors survived and why they couldn't question Cerberus about it because deep down inside Shep knows that TIM is their father and once Cerberus has conquered the Galaxy you can rule beside him as Father and Son/Daughter. Why be a Commander when you can be a Prince/ss of the Universe and then after TIM has died, King/Queen of the Universe... or maybe you would prefer to be called Master of the Universe!

Shepard is awesome => he is above rank & file.

Even if let's say Shepard got promoted to Captain I would think he/she'd still want to be known as 'Commander' simply out of self-respect, all the achievements Shep makes in the universe was when he was Commander and in his/her mind will always carry that moniker.

Like in MGS3 and Portable Ops despite being given the new codename Big Boss, he would still rather be known as 'Snake' as he doesn't feel right about it, some kind of code of honour military thing I guess.

I know that general is way up in the command chain so this'll never happen. espescially with MOD 2 but wouldn't it be wiered if General shepard met Admiral hacket and they got to discussing casualty estimates on the citadel

As many have pointed out from time and time again, Shepard hasn't been part of the Alliance since he became a Spectre. Technically he's Agent Shepard (As Bailey will address you as if you speak to him after the Council). His rank supercedes any rank of the Alliance.

I don't think the Captain rank means much to my Shepard. I'm the first person brought back from the dead. I saved the entire galaxy and everybody who is some body knows me by reputation. Ashley thinks I'm a God. Who needs to be ranked a Captain.

I wish they promoted him to Fleet admiral, and then when mass effect 3 comes, he and another group of admirals will be sitting in a far of space station, safe from the reapers, planning to defeat them, and we have a Mass effect RTS.

@Bianco re: My last post (and I guess to the others that didn't understand it)

You mentioned about Hackett being Shep's dad, so I intially agreed and worked a way to cover it for all 'Shep' backgrounds but then decided to go with the whole 'TIM is your father' angle, seeing as that was one thing missing from ME2 for it to have relevance to ESB if Cerberus/TIM is to be the big bad evil some make it/him out to be and also give reasoning for why he wanted to ensure Shep survived. Then I decided to go into Empire Strikes Back territory by re-itterating a line Darth Vader said to Luke, then went into Highlander territory with the 'Prince of the Universe' line (ok it's queen song, but it's main theme for Highlander: The Series) then from there went to He-Man the Master of the Universe



Basically I was in a jovial mood last night and figured I'd share some of my crazy talk as it befitted the topic title so well with different names/titles to give Shepard. It could've been worse, because initially I was going to include a para-phrasing of the 'initial dialogue' that Prince Adam/He-Man gave at the start of the cartoon. But it just didn't make any sense so I deleted it and for everyones sanity (including what little I have left of mine ) I ain't ever going to post it.



Oh and if we ever have a ME RTS I am NOT going to be one of those stupid Admirals sitting at the back of the battlefield safe from harm. A good Admiral LEADS their troops from the front not the back



How else will they get to shout out the immortal line... "ITS A TRAP!"
