One thing that always irked me about Miranda;

Yeah, same, although I shocked her when I assigned Garrus to the 2nd fireteam leader. heheLadyJaneGrey wrote...
My Shep just let her think that if she wanted to. Besides, Garrus loved those guns too much to have time for anything else. ;^)

Garrus is more qualified.Yannkee wrote...
Miranda is my Shepard XO and I hope she will remain it in ME3. She's the most competent for this job and I don't want someone else.

I like Garrus, but I prefer Miranda for this job.
Garrus will remain a good fire team leader, but he will never be my XO.

Meh, still don't like her.LorDC wrote...
Miranda's job isn't just going "oh hai i'm your boss" on Shepard's squadmates. Her job is making sure that everything on Normandy runs smoothly. Food, supplies, HR - it's all her job. And I doubt that Garrus will be more effective in this job than her.

And? Your attitude to her was obvious from very beginning but I don't think it deserves dedicated topic.PsychoWARD23 wrote...

How she decides she's all of a sudden Shepard's main assistant. I'm playing through ME2 again and she says to Jack, "I'm Shepard's second-in-command." Even though I'm mostly full-Paragon, I'd renegade interrupt that right there and say," Actually, Garrus is, because you know, he helped me defeat Saren and he doesn't work for Cerberus." And then slap her. B**** needs to learn her place on my ship.
Hey, your are not even allowed to enter certain compartments on the Normandy until yet another Cerberus fashion show winner settles in there! Who are you kidding?

You took the words right out of my keyboard!
I can't really see Garrus spending hours each day tracking spare parts on a spreadsheet, dropping what he's doing (calibrations of course) to order extra butter for next week's batch of cookies, or even keeping a civil tone while two chaps on the ship argue with each other about who gets to take leave first, or any of the other 1001 bits of minutia an XO has to deal with.
Call me crazy, but I think there might be just a touch of personal animosity (and/or romantic jealousy) that drives Miranda's and Jack's "interactions."

"The access to the AI core is restricted, Shepard." -- sounds familiar?
At least you are authorized to use the bathroom from the very start.

I hope there's an option to choose your XO in ME3 for roleplaying's sake. (Still, my Shep's XO would be Miranda anyway.)

Otherwise, yeah it's Garrus. He knows how to deal with people, not how to manipulate them. He's "one of the crew", so to speak. And he has experience in handling a team. And we have EDI for the butter and cookies shipments.

She's not telling you what to do, she questions your decisions, occasionally. Good second-in-commands are supposed to do that, they're supposed to think for themselves and to offer alternative solutions. I don't get that childish animosity that drives people to dislike anyone who doesn't worship slavishly at the player's feet. I can only hope that nobody of those who say "B**** needs to learn her place" will ever end up in a position of power, and I wonder if I should pity the women they're going to marry.Sidac wrote...
Yes op that made me laugh too. Early as freedom's progress she says "you're in charge" yet the whole time shes telling you where to go and what to do.
As for "her place"; that's definitely at my side, not at my feet. If she says something, I'll listen and decide to follow her advice or not as a good commander should. I won't play my Shepard as an authoritarian ass*ole.

Hell if being XO is about doing the most jobs, Rupert wins by default.
