...*wonders if she's being trolled*

Evil? When did I say he was evil? Being a douchebag and being evil are two different things. Jacob can be pretty damn douchey he's not evil by a long shot though.

You have the oddest reasons for disliking characters I have ever dun seen around these parts.

My 'evil' comment was facetious.  Jacob was being....dumb? Insensitive?  But hardly intentionally aggravating anyone.

Jacob: "I wasn't part of that operation, Tali, and I'm sorry it happened, but I hope we can put that behind us and work together as a team."

Ryzaki: "Omg did you hear the way he just antagonized Tali?!"

Yes because that's totally how that conversation went.

And honestly I rather think Jacob was being an intelligent jerk than a ******.

Though huh maybe he is that stupid.

And what odd reasons have I for disliking characters? Disliking someone for making rude/dumb comments is pretty much the norm.

You also dislike characters from saving Commander Shepard's sorry corpse from Collector goo experiments.  Excellent.

Wrong. I dislike characters for handing Command Shepard's sorry corpse over to a terriorist organization.

You're right, I just watched this video, and what he actually says is:

"I wasn't part of what happened to the Migrant Fleet, but I understand your distrust. I hope we'll get past that as we work together."

However, you are not unreasonable in saying Jacob can be something of a douche to new recruits (*coughThanecoughcough*).

I agree....then the travesty that was ME2 would never have happened and the Collectors would have harvested all human colonies and eventually a human Reaper would have been created that would annihilate the whole galaxy!  That would have been a fun ME2. BioWare wouldn't even have needed to waste time on ME3.  Then they could spend more time on Dragon Age.  So kewl.

I found that bit about EDI to be rude and unnecessary personally. /shrug

Yes because Shepard's such a special little snowflake *coughSuecough* that the galaxy just couldn't do *anything* without him! Oh noes! How ever did they manage those 2 years?!

And hey what if TIM had gone along with Miranda's control chip idea! Then Shepard could've lived the rest of his life as a mindless puppet for Cerberus! Thanks Liara!

Yeah, BW should have totally ended Shepard's story and made a new protagonist....peeps would have loved that.

They also could've made the storyline not so stupid. Many would've loved that.

XO doesn't mean you have to take care of food suplies and whatnot imo, it's about leadership, and both Garrus and Miranda got it. It's just that Garrus got his team killed due to misjudgement, he won't even make such a mistake again. That's why he should be XO in my opinion.

An XO manages the activities and logistics on a ship so their commander can focus on 'important' stuff. It's more filling out spreadsheets and reading reports than most people believe, things that Garrus seems to dislike.

Isn't this the kind of stuff EDI should be doing?

I thought VI/AI handled navigational and weaponry calculations, not administrative issues. I'd be hesitant to put a computer in charge of crew evaluations.

EDI is an AI that, as Maria said, "handled navigational and weaponry calculations, not administrative issues."

Garrus doesnt seem to like admin stuff, hes more of a field agent kinda guy.

So Miranda is the best choice.

Also, you can totally take your XO out on a mission with you. The ship wont fall apart if they are both gone temporarily. Do you think in the military a unit's 2nd in command doesnt go on missions because the squad leader might die? Even more reason to take Miri with you on missions, besides the fact that she is by far the best squaddie b/c of her squad bonuses! If my Shep died, I would want Miri to take over the mission for me so it could get done. Granted, Garrus is the better replacement but he would be on the ship because I always bring Miri and Grunt. And I wouldnt trust Grunt to lead my squad. =P

And, as someone said before, people who expect others to always bow at their feet, especially women, should be drawn and quartered. Seriously. Thats why I love Miri. She is strong, independent, and can stand on her own. No groveling at my feet with her. Exactly how I like it to be.

Silly man creatures with your fragile sensibilities. Ah, to get so worked up about a position that means exactly nothing. Not even a "The commanding officer is ashore. XO Lawson has the deck" to bolster your argument. Yes I'm sure you were so annoyed by that one line in that one scene about that one thing that is never mentioned again and has no practical game significance whatsoever. So annoying!! How dare she!! Does she know whose ship this is?!! I don't see her name on it!! It's my name!! Mine!! Look, it's written everywhere, great big C's! C, for Commander! Commander Shepard!!

LOL!  So true & funny at the same time.
I must admit I thought Miranda to be particularly loathesome when I talked to her after first meeting with TIM.
Gosh her attitude really stinks!

But once you know her better, done her loyalty mission etc.. she isn't that bad.  The same can be said for Jack as well.  So I suppose both of them have major chips on their shoulder which hides who they actually are on the inside.

I find it a bit hard to dislike certain characters.  Partly due to how they were written.  Imagine if the following scenarios... would you have disliked the character as much?

1. Cerebus was written differently and they didn't screw up as badly.
2. Or Shepard was handed to another faction who had the ability to bring him/her back alive...

Still if you take her on some missions with you, you can shake her confidence in her support structure - Cerberus. . . Especially when ole TIM sends the team on the collector ship. (she had some interesting reactions when I got pissed about TIM not warning me about the trap.) (I was fishing out various characters reactions on multiple playthoughs, and looking for easter eggs!)

Whow, maybe I missed that. Do you remember what was her reaction?

She frowned and it was obvious disappointment judging by her chacter stance / reaction (BW futher hinted at it using the camera from what I remember. You have to watch for her in the background.) . . . How far reaching? It's hard to say sence Miranda never further voiced or spoken her concern in the manner. (BTW if my memory serves me right. She will vocally defend TIM if you go the other route.)

(Character social stances seems to be further defining trait as Bioware makes games. . giving their characters more 'human' like social reactions, not just by voiceing it. . but by visual cues. . .) B)

I can see how others would rather demote her or whatever, but I believe she is truly the best and most qualified for the job. I think she is probably the only one who would actually do the job decently too. Jacob is a good guy, but I wouldn't really want him working behind a desk managing my ship, nor would I want any of my other crew. Now on the battlefield, I'd defer to Garrus over her, but he is about the only one imo.

(Incoming rant about what irks me about Miranda)

The only thing that truly irked me about Miranda was her romance scene. It
seemed very tacky wanting to do it right where Tali works, and even if it wasn't where Tali works, why the engine room? If this could possibly be our last/only night together, I'd rather it not be in the engine room, so the whole scene gave me a "meh" feeling. I was really pleased with the romance. I'd say her and Liara are pretty much tied for my favorite romance. Although that scene just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It seemed like Miranda said "Okay, I guess I'll have sex with Shepard -- where would be a fun place to do it?" It just gave me "fling" vibes instead of "romance" vibes.

Only 2 would've resulted in me thinking she was less of an idiot so no I wouldn't dislike her if she did option 2.

1 would only happen if Cerberus was a mostly benign human centric organization. They'd have to be ompletely different.
