Happy New Year to all fellow DAO fans!!

I am looking forward to what 2011  will bring (DA2!!!)

I've started making a series of fan-created vids based on the Female Cousland storyline (or my Cousland playthrough) you are welcome to pop over and take a look! Let me know what you think! :-)

OK, I watched the first vid.

I really liked how you edited this piece. Also, your character is quite lovely.

I didn't really care for the music. That song is really better suited to fight scenes, especially the more dramatic confrontations.

Thanks for the feedback Face of Evil :)

There is difficulty in some sections of Dragon age where the tension seems to be in the dialogue not necessarily in the action scenes... I could add some battles on the actual gameplay, but getting that to "look right" is quite difficult. The music was intended to add tension, but I accept that maybe it is better used for action sequences. B)

Thank you Shinobu, that means a lot :)

I'll have a look at other music that could be added to the video at some stage. I'm currently focusing on getting the videos produced first :)

I feel your pain! Talking heads don't make for riveting video, but some of the most affecting scenes in the game occur during conversations -- it's frustrating. Also, when compared to the length of the game the number of cutscenes is not very high, which means we all end up reusing the same bits. As you said, combat offers "new" content but is hard to control. The toolset offers the ability to make new cutscenes, but seems labor-intensive.

No answers here, just sympathy.^_^

Can you tell me what video editing software you are using? To the best of my knowledge mine doesn't have the ability to layer clips the way you have done (although I'm a total noob at using it, so maybe I haven't discovered that function yet).

One last thing -- If you make your YouTube addy directly clickable
using the globe n' chain at the top of the post window it should
increase the number of hits you get.

Some excellent observations Shinobu, its nice to have someone understand where I am coming from! :)

I do try to get around the talking heads issue by adding bits of important dialogue... its somewhat of a compromise since I am not creating so much a music video but more of a 2min mini-episode/trailer vid. However for music vids I am not sure how that can be achieved - so that makes the whole "talking heads" problem even more frustrating!

The software I am using is Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD - I started out developing videos using Windows Movie Maker but it is hideously unstable on my machine not to mention how limited it can be sometimes. Which programs do you use to edit your vids?

Lastly, good thinking on the link! I'll see to that right away! :-)

Wow, Sony Vegas looks like a great tool with a steep learning curve. I'm using VideoPad Video Editor which looks like a tinkertoy by comparison. I can line clips up, time them and do a very limited number of things (B&W, panning, crossfade, etc.) but really no cool effects. I may have to download the trial version of Vegas just to give it a whirl. Right now I'm not feeling terribly inspired, so maybe I'll just stockpile clips and wait to download until I have a project in mind.

I try to get around the talking heads by synching either their lip movements or their gestures with the music. Sometimes it's not possible, and then it just looks... ugh.

Excellent timing in your edit. Conveys the story well, in a well put together dramatization! Good job. :) <3

@Shiniobu - Sony Vegas does take some getting used to, usually its a case of pressing all the buttons to see what works - its been a trial and error process for me! I'm getting there with the help of online tutorials and such. :-)
I'm having the talking heads problem with an episode I am trying to create at the moment in the series. The section in question is a very small part of the game so I am tempted to skip it and move onto another section - but where is the challenge in that? :?

@Ardinal - Thank you for your comments -very much appreciated. :D

Just so you know the second episode is now uploaded ()
