 i JUST INSTALLED MASS EFFECT AND CLICKED "PLAY" FOR THE FIRST TIME.  i GET AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING AWC.DLL LOAD FAILED, AND THE GAME WONT START.  pLEASE HELP?

apologies for caps lock!!!  just realised....

1. Look for this file: "EACore_App.ini" , in the "Binaries" folder of your game folder.



2. Make a backup copy of it.



3. Edit de file, and erase all the content, save the file empty.



4. Launch the game.



It should correct the file when you launch the game if it messes up replace it with the backup you made.

Check the stickied thread near the top of this forum about awc.dll for possible fixes.

There's also this but I doubt that's the solution you're looking for if it's never worked at all - I'd recommend the sticky first. Edit: Crosspost. That link is to the solution Moondoggie is suggesting.

I just realised that there is already an error topic for this problem, but i cannot post there. can someone help me how to fix it please as i am really not a computer expert.

thanks Kloreep, I read it but I dont understand half of it - i am not a computer expert. I am incredibly sad and frustrated that instead of just being able to play the game, I have to go into all sort of files and change paths etc which I dont know how to and dont want to risk doing myself. This is a very poor experience. I just paid for the game and I cant use it



not sure what to do, I am stupid with computers and I cannot play the game :(

oh gosh I cannot do this  i am not a computer expert, i dont dare to go into files and change them.  This is really frustrating and i am upset with the developers or whoevers fault this error message is :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

i just tried all that you just said - and it didnt solve anything. now i dont get an error message, the game just doesnt do anything. doesnt start

i changed the file back to the original using the backup copy, now it says "the game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration.. please uninstall and reinstall, which is what i did before.



i am literally in tears about the stupid game :(:(

By this you mean the steps that Moondoggie outlined?

Just to be sure: you saved the EA_core ini as an empty file, right, you didn't delete the file? If so, then I guess scratch this one off. :/ Go ahead and delete the empty one and restore your back-up.

All I can recommend is going through the steps in the stickied thread. Some are a bit more advanced than others, it's true. But some are pretty easy. (For instance, download & running the activation.air file Mr. Gamble links to.)

yes, moondoggies steps - deleting the contents of that file. i also installed adobe air from the website, and that other file too. i didnt delete the ini file, i saved it empty. when its emty, i dont get an error message, just nothing happens. i restored my backup, then the new error message came up,.



i tried activation air too... this might be a stupid question but i see this was a problem 11 months ago, how come they havent fixed it yet? i am sorry i am totally in tears about this

when i click on activation air now, it asks me to click on "run", then nothing happens, again.

update: i am now reinstalling the game for the third time. what do I do if it still doesnt work?
