This is such misinformation. Alistair was announced by a dev, and the other three clearly showed sex scenes/romance dialogue in their trailers. How does that not count?

Did not mean it to be misinformation. Apparently I was wrong and you are right. Sadly in my old age my memory doesn't extend that well to character trailers and demos. Sorry.

Heh, I didn't know anything about the game when I started it except that it was a traditional style RPG, tactical, and had an involving story with good acting. And the first time through, I played a male who was so obessed by killing Howe and Loghain, and ending the blight, that he didn't romance anyone--didn't even really see the possibility. When I played a female the next time through, Alistair astonished me. I kind of hope they don't announce them. It was pretty powerful that way.

I know, it was nice to be surprised, wasn't it? I had every intention of romancing who I referred to back then as "whichever girl lets me." By the time I left Ostagar I was absolutely head-over-heals for Alistair. Ask my husband. He kept joking that any day now I was going to run off with him.

Anyway, as much as I'd like to know who's romancable, I almost sort of want to be surprised.

I don't like when people suggest that (I know you were joking, but others aren't) because I don't want a dating sim. I want high adventure and an epic tale with a good dose of romance along the way.

That's usually the mix I like most, as well. Although, to be fair, if Bioware actually for some unknown, insane reason made a dating sim, I'd probably buy it, gods help me. But not because it's a dating sim, because it's Bioware, and I think that they could probably make "Sponge Bob Square Pants 3D" interesting.

Actually, you guys DID reveal all the romances before Origins shipped, because the ACHIEVEMENTS showed up on XBOX Live and someone posted on the forum about them.  So, yes, everyone knew who the potential LI's were prior to release.

It might have been an accident, but the info was out there.

in all seriousness they cannot argue with the fact that we DID know who all the LI were in origins BEFORE the game was released....one just has to look at the timestamps on Aimo's artworks LOL

I'm not pressing, I'm just correcting.  I don't really care one way or the other whether they reveal them all before the game comes out, I just don't want anyone saying "oh, we didn't release this info".  Well--they sort of didn't, Microsoft did, but six of one half a dozen of the other.

actually they were pretty much all revealed before the achievements came out, most of the time either by a video or by a dev itselof

(one of the devs also wanted to hold Lucy to a promise she made about making a slo-mo video of herself  jumping  on bedful of glue and cut-out pictures of Zevran to Enia music if Zevran was ever confirmed as a LI)

I just want there to be a LI other than Isabella. Aveline is an good one, but she's supposed to be a widow (or is she?), and that has been done to death (no pun intended). We can only hope that we get a good elf love interest, if only for the sake of diversity.

As someone else mentioned earlier, the S/S LIs weren't revealed beforehand, and I'll admit that's one thing that kind of worries me. I mean, I feel like I can just up and safely assume we'll get Isabela (for S/S specifically), but she's not the one I want and all that.

That said, if BioWare made a dating sim where we play the damsel/dude in distress and romance fantasy heroes/heroines, I would be the first person to preorder it.

Aveline is also a badass warrior-woman love interest, and it is scientifically impossible to have too many of those.

Also, Aveline has that Brienne the Beauty quality about her. The woobie potential is strong with that one.

Not that I'm going to get them. Juuuuust that I'm hoping for them.

Why not 9 or 10?  We had that many in Dragon Age: Origins and that game only spanned a few months.  DA 2 spans 10 YEARS.  I'd expect that Hawke would run across AT LEAST 10 potential companions over a ten year period of time.

Still, we obviously revealed something about the romances before launch. It is possible we will again. Or it may be that we feel that releasing such detail before launch was a mistake and we won't do it this time.

I guess you'll have to stay tuned and see what we do between now and then.

Oh and i tell you what sold me on dragon age? Morrigans character trailer. Fire, lightning, earth and shapeshifting it was like watching a dragon age version of a druid. (then we got the dalish keepers lol)

IIRC you did not, which bugged the crap out of me because I was hoping there'd be a hidden romance with Sten. :'(  Oh well.
