I know this is a really common problem, and I have done a lot of research to find it, but I am just going to make my own post because all the other forums I can find just have people saying they have the problem without any real solution.
The problem:
I can run DA:O on full specs for first few minutes of gameplay with load screens less than 5 seconds, then after a few minutes (or after a battle) the game slows way down. I have noticed it fills up about half my RAM and then takes forever to do anything. The lag becomes so debilitating that I cannot even run accross the room of a building (It will literally slow down to 2-4 FPS when running) even with graphics at lowest setting. Its obviously a memorie (loading) issue.
My Specs:
AMD Phenom 9500 (2.2 Mhz Quad Core (Not overclockable))
8GB DDR2 RAM (4-4-4-12 timings at 800Mhz)
FXF Radeon HD 5830 1GB
64GB OCZ SSD (with game loaded on here (And OS))
MSI K9A2 Platinum Mobo
Windows 7 64bit system
My Understanding thus far:
AMD is the problem here. I obviously have fast enough specs that I should not have this problem with any game (SSD and 4-4-4-12 timing RAM). I read a lot about the TLB Patch, and thought that would be my fix. Nope, turned it off in my Bios and in AMD Overdrive, nothing helped. If anyone has any links to a forum that is not just desribing this problem, but has a solution, please help! For a $60 dollar game and so many complaints you'd imagine Bioware would fix whatever this problem is, but they havent... and its no longer a 'new' game.
Summary: It appears to be some sort of Memorie leak linked to AMD Quad core 9500 and 9600 processors, but maybe not.
Thanks for any replys (in advance)!
Debilitating Lag after a few minutes of gameplay / Memory Leak / BioWare hates AMD / Any solutions?
