The Amstrad games when they came out were pretty expensive (I recall some as high as £15) though towards the end of it's run the games sold really really cheap like i recall there was a £1 game rack at the store i used to buy a bunch of games from there.
What was the first video game you ever played?

I believe it was...Quake. I was 4 years old at the time, perhaps too young for a shooting game, but according to my father I was pretty good at it. My favorite part was riding on the springy elevator thing. Hm.

It was probably Mario or Duck Hunt, but it might also have been something like Contra. :-P

most likely something on the Atari 2600. Probably the earliest that I have a MEMORY of playing is back when I was 6...me and a friend used to play DynoWarz on the NES. I just bought another copy recently actually...but I can't be bothered to hook up my NES to test it out.

Commander Keen. It was my favourite game for many years. I still like it, but I could probably still play it with my eyes closed now, and there's no challenge in that.

If you mean console games, then it was a combo pack of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt for NES, but we had a ton of mini hanhelds - I'm not talking about the gameboy either, I'm talking about the ones that resembled Game & Watch man but with different franchises, like Disney Princess', Jurrasic Park, etc.

The Secret of Monkey Island
Played it along with my mother and sister, and we were extatic when we finally finished it
From that point, I knew I loved games with stories. My mother mostly prefers puzzle games, while my sister likes economic-strategy games such as the Tycoon series, and Sims.

Warcraft III, several years after it appeared. Arthas is still one of my favorite game characters... and the soundtrack is still awesome. Ah, nostalgia.
