yeah it seems odd for the drastic changes to the tainted. I wonder why they did that. They look more like skeleton warriors

A) To make them look like they all have the same disease.
B) To make them look like they could have been normal.
C) To make them look more like the used to.

No, he's a Qunari

He has a glandular problem, so he's just kinda short. :D

I prefer the new Darkspawn over the mindless zombie-look-a-likes that are able to somehow forge complete armor but have tattered weaponry and shields.

I like darkspawn in general to fit in with lore... I wonder how these new darkspawn can tear through flesh easily with teeth fit for plant chewing and eating in general where darkspawn in lore do not eat. And I aslo like to have some sort of taint whereas the new darkspawn look like lipless humanoids with no blood in their bodies.

Me too, it's looks as if they stole that armor, Darkspawn are mindless but not stupid.

They take what is pratical and nothing more.

If everyone had a serious flesh eating disease I would doubt they all look alike.

If they gave them different armor and if they didn't shuffle around like monkeys, I'd like the new darkspawn as well.

Bioware, why doesn't the game fit my exact aesthetic preferences?

I don't think they would have the same armor, either I mean. If I were a dark spawn wouldn't it be easier to just use what I can find or kill off my enemies. Some dark spawn might have magical items on them that they killed off of wandering adventurers, other might have rusty weapons they might have found off of rotting corpses

On-topic: I would make the Qunari horns smaller, because I imagine lots of clipping whenever they go through a door. Smaller weapons would be nice, because the 2 handed swords seem ridiculous to me. I like the weapon sizes of Assassins Creed.

The whole point of having a uniform, would also imply that the tainted have now the ability to organize themselves into a cohesive fighting force, which I think its contradictory to the tainted we see in origins which is a Mindless horde following the orders of their superiors, dragon, what have you.

Each Darkspawn of a particular type wore the exact same armour as each other in DA:O too. Nothing's changed there.

Really, there are just a handful of visual things I take issue with. Weapon size is one of them. Overall I think the game looks good, they just went a little crazy here and there.

The dark spawn look better in origins IMO. Even though they wear the same armor they still look like a giant horde mass in origins as opposed to this dark armor vs light skin texture which clashes with each other. This again goes back to the "I think it makes them look cooler" fail argument. It's changing things that aren't broken for the sake of changing them.

Your palpable frustration and lowering the guess on the age post by post was fantastic. Congratulations are in order.

But in response to the question to the Darkspawn's New Look (coming soon to a cable channel near you) I was a little thrown. It does seem a rather drastic change when the original models were a little sporadic in design direction, but I think it's the colour palette change that's jarring... the armor difference however and the similarity of 'symptoms' is fantastic.

As for what I'd change - how about metal armor that doesn't move like leather. I don't know if that was just on console but it just didn't look 'hard' - nothing did to be honest IMO. Am I alone?

In a medieval fantasy setting I find it hard to believe that even elite grey warden super warriors can get that toned. Nevermind every single peasant and serf. Most humans would closer resemble the elves.

The elves of course would be even more pitifully small

I think elves should have to shiny latex/eather body suits with full masks when they leave the forests... it would be tasty...

I have to admit the old Hurlocks looked alot more intimidating, and the new Hurlocks look alot like Skeletor. But I like He-Man so I'm cool with this.
