A friend and I are wanting to play through the OC, MotB, and SoH together. Obviously we are starting with the OC. I have a few questions regarding the OC however.

When you first load up a server with the MotB module, you are sent to a lobby and you stay there until someone goes through the door. Am I missing something, or is this not at the beginning of the OC when loaded into MP?

I am also having trouble figuring out which module to load using the dedicated server program. I have copied the files to our server machine, and it wants me to choose from a list of 19 or so modules. If I were to choose 0_Tutorial.mod, would it advance on its own to the next part of the campaign without me having to tell the server to load the next one?

If I do have to tell it to load the next module, is there any place I can see the order in which they should be done? At first I figured they would be in order using the numbers at the beginning, but I know you don't start in Neverwinter at the beginning.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Hmm I do not know the answers to your questions sadly.

But I can say that you do not need a dedicated server machine if your intention is to simply play through these games with your friends. A good option is to simply host the game from your own computer, you would needto open some ports so your friend can connect if you are using a router but it's a very simple way to go about it.

Thanks. I know it isn't required, but I already have a VPS that I use for other things so it is easier that way.

As a follow up though, we began the OC and as soon as we left West Harbor after finding the shard (where you head to the inn and run into the dwarf), my friend got an illegal character error and couldn't reconnect. Something about not having the right number of spells or something along those lines. The server was created using the most up to date game with all expansions installed, and he was playing as a wizard.

We kind of gave up after that.

Any chance you messed around with the PC(s) and gave yourselves extra skills/abilities before this happened?

If you're using the server application, you can configure it to not look for "legal" characters.
