My Dream Team would be (if possible):
1) Grunt with Incendiary Ammo, Berserker and Fortification Image IPB.
2) Tali (or Legion) with AI Hacking, Energy Drain (or Shield Boost) and Machinist (or Infiltrator).
3) Shepard with Singularity, Warp, Throw, Squad Warp Ammo and Bastion.

I know this game is an arcade/FPS/RPG hybrid but it should not be so simplified. I enjoy the game as it is, but I would like some things to be 'improved' in Mass Effect 3. I cannot improve it using Mods because I have an XBox 360.

1) You only have to give up one evolved power (rank 3 only) - Berseeker / Fortification (they don't make a real difference)
2) Idem, AI Hacking is awesome, but drones at rank 3 are almost as good as the Evolved versions.
3) Your Shepard has one point to spare for Pull - already possible (I would drop Warp Ammo though, try Stasis, Barrier, Energy Drain or Dominate)

You can mod your saves using Gibbed's editor; check this thread for more info: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/103/index/2277020

Only thing you're risking is that the modded savegame doesn't work with ME3 (just make a backup and you're fine).

I honestly don't know where you're talking about, OP. You mentioned something about how biotics can't cut through shields. Take Mordin with you and use incinerate. Otherwise, guns will just have to do their job.

You also mentioned that the Praetorian destroys your squad members. So what? If you can't handle a fight by yourself, then why are you even trying a harder difficulty level? My teammates die all the time, especially from Heavies and Scions, and I don't have any trouble. Just use your cover effectively and move when you need to.

Harder difficulties are meant to be harder. What were you expecting from it?

You are right, the rank 4 for the 'specialization' powers of the squad members doesn't make a lot of difference and I could give up them (except for Miranda and Shepard). However, the rank 4 of Combat Drone (for Tali), AI Hacking (Legion) and Fortification (Grunt) are improved versions. I haven't thought in Dominate because I didn't recruit Morinth but I found out that the power is already unlocked. Dominate and AI Hacking are an interesting combination for Global Domination Image IPB.

Thanks for the advice.

The Praetorian part on Horizon is pretty easy, all I do is try to stay as far away from it as possible, when the praetorian knocks itself down to regen barriers I allways move further away from it, when its firing its beam Im staying behind cover and when it finishes shooting there is a small break before the praetorian starts to shoot again so use that break also to move, as for the squad members, well if they are not below the praetorian then the boss ignores them 95% of the time and only focuses on you so they are pretty much free to shoot it & use special powers, (jack & jacob are the most useless squad members in the game)

Agree. Moreover, in a second playtrough with powers maxed out, Shepards can withstand a lot of damage if teamed with Miranda's 'Cerberus Tactician'. It is a shame that Grunt is not available in Horizon.
Jacob is pitiful and Jack is not the badass showed in the cutscenes.

You can bring Grunt to Horizon.  Jack and Jacob are not pitiful.  They just don't have a one-shot defense stripping power, making their effectiveness less easily recognized than, say, Miranda.

In my case, the Horizon mission was triggered before I got Grunt. In my first playtrough I had allmost all my team available for the Collectors Vessel Trap but in my second time I had only half of them. I guess that the mandatory missions appear randomly no matter which members you have in your team. I suggest to avoid the IFF mission until the entire team is loyal (except for Legion of course) and you have all the upgrades. Once the IFF is working the suicide mission is triggered and you cannot waste time in side missions.

 That's not actually possible unless you've modded the game.

Correction, my mistake Image IPB. In my case, the Horizon mission was triggered before I got Grunt LOYAL. Grunt is useful, in my opinion, once he have Fortification. I prefer the loyal members because there is something tender about them Image IPB Image IPB.

No worries. :D

@Topic: My own "sweet spot" regarding difficulty levels is Hardcore, regardless of class. That's got the best mix between fun an challenge for me.

Yea. I got off-topic tu expose my rants. I haven't tried Insanity neither in ME 1 nor ME 2 but I think Hardcore is the balance between fun and challenge for my gameplay style once I maxed the powers. I don't recommend it for people starting from scratch. Ironically, despite that enemies have more protections and powers, I have done the missions in less time than in my first playthrough. I guess it is because my strategy, upgrades and powers are better than before. However, the big armored bosses are still kicking my ass. By the way, I cannot complete the Smuggled Cargo mission without losing a lot of crates. The rewards are not worth the effort but I am a completionist. Any suggestion? Maybe with the Cain heavy weapon and AI Hacking?

Games hard, bro.

In all seriousness, it feels like every fight is a boss fight. Haha. I'm there with you.

Interesting... ME2 was one of the only games I've played where I actually found the difficulty to be another layer of true gameplay than enhanced the experience. I won't play ME2 except on Insanity now, I just think it's much more fun with the added strategy of the defenses. Yeah, I die a lot, but it's a quick reload and no worries.

The only part I'll agree that the higher difficulties ruin the game on is inside the Hammerhead. It's BS that you can't save on a mission. That thing has tissue paper for armor, and it SUCKS reloading when you have almost finished a ten minute collection mission (I'm looking at you Cerberus Packets on Overlord DLC).

The rest? Insanity is a blast I think. Much more fun than *&%^#$(%& Ninja Gaiden II on Master Ninja.

Amazing. Insanity, adept, no tank (Grunt), and two sweet ladies (MIranda and Kasumi). The trick is to use 'Stasis' (LoTSB DLC needed). I will see if I can make a 'one shot kill' with the Cain.
I wonder if 'Stasis' works in Gunships.
BTW, It is a shame that I cannot have a romance with Kasumi Image IPB. I like asian girls Image IPB.

In the video, I noticed that in the PC version you can undone the talents points Image IPB. Surely the PS3 will have it too. That is not fair for XB360 owners (put here the 'angry' emoticon).

Does anyone knows where I can find a chart with the details of the powers and enemy protections (Rock/Paper/Scissors rules)? I found by trial and error that Stasis works in allmost any target, Singularity stalls protected minions (not bosses), Dominate causes 'pain' in protected targets (not sure if it damages anything). Maxed Concussion, Overload and Grenades allways work.

I'm totally in agreement here too.  To compare futher, I've heard nothing but horror stories from friends that have beaten Halo: Reach on it's highest difficulty.  A war of attrition wasn't fun in World War I, and it's not any more fun in video games (inappropriate comparison, lawl).

You can reset talent points in squadmates with LOSB, there is a terminal for it near Liara at the end. I don't have a Xbox but I think it will be the same.

Stasis works on anything except Harbringer, Praetorian and I think Shadow Broker (don't remember well).
Singularity doesn't do anything to FENRIS, YMIRS, Praetorians and varrens.
The abiliy descriptions in game of powers says against which defenses they do extra damage, but here a link to a thread saying the modifiers: http://social.biowar...1/index/1143264

If you are try to kill the YMIRS with the cain I recommend to it as low level as you can. If I recall correctly at level 10 on insanity one shot is enough to finish the mission. On level 30 one shoot won't even destroy all of their armor.

Since I noticed this thread has popped up again, and I've seen others in different threads that I follow throwing out that Insanity is a cakewalk for any but the least skilled of players, I started this poll to see just what the real sentiment is on these forums.

Most the video making people are better than me, but I still feel that while insanity kills me here and there, it is no longer frustratingly difficult.  Which means to me I need a nightmare level of difficulty to challenge me.

I actually find that fascinating, because I like being challenged but don't like being frustrated.

EDIT: To put it another way, I found Insanity to be aggravating and stress inducing the first time I played at that level, and I did not enjoy it. The subsequent times, I found it to be much less so. Even having played through a number of times on Insanity now, I still find it to be challenging at times, but never frustratingly difficult.

The only difficulty I find with insanity is adding style - making the fights look cool. It is quite easy to be conservative and use logical/safe tactics to complete any of the missions.

As I get older I push myself harder.  If something stayed frustratingly difficult, I'd want to aovid it.  But I think a nightmare level would be like insanity was frustating the first time, and then challenging after that.

Bingo.  Anyone can beat the game, but a master does it with sexy style. Image IPB
