Conspiracy Theorists think it will happen soon after the PS3 release, since that release was promised to contain all released DLC, and by postponing the last DLC until after the PS3 release, EA can make some extra cash.
If true, this points to a real DLC and not a weapons pack.

Not just conspiracy theorists, it's a good time to release a new DLC, after you've gotten a bunch of new people in the game. The press the PS3 release is going to get might persuade some PCers and X360ers to finally pick up the game, as well...

So closing it for about a week or something if that? Considering that PS3 release is 18th in US/Canada 21st Europe/Other continents? Which means CDN closing a week after PS3 release in US. So it coming back online a week or so later would seem a bit silly imho.

Nah, I reckon it won't be till May. I was initially of the opinion we'd have 2 more 'story' DLCs between now and ME3, but it would make sense if there is just one if it is released before E3 so they can concentrate from that point on with promoting ME3. May allows them to talk about whatever happens in the DLC that could be important in giving us an idea of how ME3 is starting. Similar to how we knew the Normandy was gonna go BOOM at E3 '09

I personally won't miss CDN. I didn't bother with it most of the time.

Does anyone have any idea if we'll finally the other Appearance Packs or retail exclusive DLC included?

I'm not sure how the other Appearance Packs sold, but I'm guessing not.  If they are easy to make and profitable, they would have been out by now.
I'd like to see the retail exclusive weapons and armor in DLC as well.  I'm not holding out much hope at this point.

I bout the appearance pack thinking it was for all characters Image IPB   oh well. I would still love a set for everyone else... even armor would be nice.        Also like you said, i'd like the weapons and armor like the collectors set had.

I bought the appearence pack because it massively improved the look or both Garrus and Jack - I think they made the pack for them because a) Garrus was battered and bruised and B) Jack's appearence can be 'toned down' for want of a better phrase.

This new DLC will presumably be made under the same conditions as the previous ones - i.e. it needs to be as cost effective as possible. The only thing with a DLC based on the VS is that it requires two different voice actors for effectively one role. Depending upon the number of lines it could get expensive. Personally I disliked both Kaidan and Ashley and was disapointed that I couldn't nuke both of them. So I'd be indifferent about a DLC about the VS.

Hey did anyone else notice that Tela Vasir from LotSB was first mentioned in a CDN article? I was just looking at some of the old ones on the Mass Effect wiki and I nearly double taked when I saw the 2/17/2185 article.

EDIT:masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Cerberus_Daily_News_-_February_2010
Almost forgot to put a link. I think the Shadow Broker had something to do with this. Image IPB

I don't think the DLC should focus on just one storyline, rather I would like to see several storylines incorporated.  In other words, I would want a DLC akin to an expansion pack that is several hours long that takes place post-SM. Things I would like to see included are:

1. +1 dialogue conversation with each squadmate
2.  VS survivor
3.  Alliance vs. Cerberus allegiance - could be tied to VS survivor
4.  Quarian-Geth Conflict
5.  Thane's cure
6.  Departure of crew members (ie. who is not on the squad during the beginning of ME3) - Should include another dialogue conversation, would be nice if for once Kasumi and Zaeed had a dialogue wheel
7.  Shepard sidequest involving Shepard returning to Akuze or Torfan or Elysium

I'm hoping that the voice acting for the DLC will be done at the same time as the work done for ME3, so we may well get more conversations with our existing squadmates.
They need to do the voice work fairly early in the process, and I know that the voice work for Skyrim, which is being released around the same time, started late last year, so fingers crossed that we'll actually be able to talk to our team-mates.
And add me to the list that's hoping for VS DLC.

Of course, the announcement that the CDN will go on hiatus EXCEPT for the DLC and ME3 means people will start analyzing and paying attention to just about every single article to see if there's some kind of pattern prior to a DLC release, like how there was the series of Tela Vasir articles just prior to LotSB.

Yes, that's why really when a new and interesting/awesome topic comes up on CDN, automatically speculation pops up in these threads thinking that it's is going to be featured in a future DLC.

I myself am guily of this as well.  But here's to hoping.  :D

Ah well, apparently posting when you are already in a bad mood results in people misinterpreting your opinion and such.
Whatever, I'll reiterate:

I am hoping for some kind of story bridging DLC involving Ashley/Kaiden and the Alliance in some way, I figure it's got to show up in the plot at some point. Might as well be this time.

That's it, otherwise I apologize for typing when my blood was running hot. Thank you and good night.

There is a group on this very forum that wants to see a VS DLC and it now numbers over five hundred people. With that in mind, the DLC that Bioware is taking so long putting together had better actually feature the VS in some way or another, because frankly, I'm sick of being shunted to the side while everyone else gets the best stuff.

So please, for the love of God, I've waited, and waited, and waited and waited..... can this one PLEASE be the one that puts Ashley/Kaiden back into the game? No appearance packs, no weapons packs, no more new squad recruits and no more random fix-up-Cerberus missions..... please, I've put up with being ignored for long enough. Liara fans got one, my turn now please.

I don't think LotSB was made just for Liara fans. Nor do I think that Kaiden/Ash fans are being ignored. As long as the next DLC advances the overall story, who cares if the VS is in it? I'd hate to see a weak piece of content released just so a bunch of forumites could get their warm fuzzies. Story advancement>VS fan service.
And for the record, Ash is my LI.

That wasn't the purpose of Lair.  It had been set up waaay in advance by Redemption.  It was originally planned to be in the main ME2 game but was cut (see link 11 of my sig).  As a corollary to those, It resolved the dangling plot threads of the comic and what was left of the Liara material in the base game.  It also sets up a situation which is of highly obvious importance to ME3.

Now, I'm by no means opposed to VS DLC, but there is nothing comparable to all that involving Ash/Kaidan.  They were just plain not part of the original ME2 plan the way the Liara/Feron/Broker story was.

Yeah, as much as I too would like a VS survivor DLC --preferably one that was actually very different content wise depending on who it was-- I wouldn't want it to just come along and kind of be the "token VS DLC because we had a Liara one" kind of thing. If it advances the Mass Effect story in some way and gives us something that helps set up ME3, then that's fantastic. If it's just there 'cause and doesn't really add much, then it's kind of pointless. I'd still welcome it, but if I had a choice of meaningful bridge-gapping DLC and "token VS" DLC, I'll take the former every time.

Definitely don't want token DLC.  Cheap token cameos were bad enough thankyouverymuch.  Much as I'd love to see some sort of VS DLC, I'd rather have no DLC, than bad DLC.  Much like I'd rather they never had the VS at all in ME 2 than the scene we got on Horizon.

I know that Lair of the Shadow Broker was not just exclusively for the Liara fans, I know that it resolved a plot line. I know all of this, but it still annoys me that the biggest chunk of DLC to date goes for the character I chose not to romance in Mass Effect 1.
I DON'T want some lousy bit of fan service, but I refuse to also believe that there is no way a piece of advancing story can't be done without the VS. I mean that whole 'Alliance-Cerberus' loyalty clash thing has GOT to come into play at some point. I can't really see any other way for the plot to advance without including the Alliance and the Council's perspectives on this whole matter.
I'm not saying 'give me fan service', I'm saying 'can you please put the characters back into the plot?'

And I know I'd rather see a plot line like that then another damn 'Cerberus made a woopsie, clean it up.' Or 'Recruit this one random person who after their mission you'll never have a meaningful conversation with again'. Or 'Hey look, new clothes!!'

I don't want to be spoiled with fan service, but I would like to feel that Bioware at least care enough to put that kind of fan service in mind. I mean come on, Liara gets her own side story and comic and huge DLC, Tali gets made romanceable and along with Garrus returns as a squadmate. Wrex gets the best cameo out of any character cameo in any game ever made.
With all that in mind, why the hell should Ashley/Kaiden get one four minute cameo seemingly designed to make them abraisive to players and then just get completely dropped off the face of the Earth with no further mention? Why should fans of said characters have to sit back and watch the overall story continue to advance, further and further away from their favorite characters when it would be really easy to find some kind of plot that ties them back into the main story?

All I'm saying is, I would like to see any form of DLC actually feature them, and actually say 'yes, we do remember that they had a major role in the first game and should still now'. It wouldn't have to BE fan service, just recognition, something of which I still honestly feel starved from.

Bottom line to this: No, I don't just want some fuzzy fan service, but nor do I want to watch as yet another piece of DLC continues to advance the story further and further away from one of my favorite characters. We are allowed to make theories and express our hopes on this thread, so that's what I did.

Oh, my, five hundred people?

That is such a massive share of the customer base. Truly intimidating.

Considering that these forums don't provide the best possible demographics, we can't really know the actual share, but a story-bridging DLC with a temporary appearance from VS would be nice, imo.

Besides, if you (not you, generally speaking) consider LotSB fan service, you should consider that Liara fans are pretty much the equivalent of Tali fans here, without 'everyone' else hating them. VS fans...not so much.

Yeah, no way it will be solely Virmire Survivor or Relationship DLC. It's going to be plot-related. Maybe the VS will be part of it, I wouldn't have my hopes up.

Just one more DLC and no more daily news is disappointing.

They could do a lot with a VS mission - the VS is doing important work, so anything we did with them would probably have a lot to do with the main plot...  Plus it could have a lot to do with getting back into the Alliance.

Also, maybe the VS is investigating Haestrom's star, Dholen, and it turns out this has something to do with how the Reapers are trying to get into the galaxy.  Maybe it's their improvised, crude alternative to using the citadel - and the only reason they hadn't used it in the first place could be because they consider it highly dangerous compared to using the citadel.

But who knows, we will see :D

Hopefully this isn't the only bridging DLC coming, but if it is, I hope it's a VS/alliance mission

Assuming that eveyone WANTS back in the alliance is pretty bold dont you think.  Seriously, given the choice between Cerberus and the Alliance in ME3, (even though Cerberus is pretty shady) I'll choose Cerberus every damn time because I utterly hate the Alliance.

Not that it matters, in ME3 the only organization that you'll be in will be Team Shepard.

Har de Har Har Smarty pants. Look I'll take my victories where I get them, as an Ashley fan it's kind of all I can do. Besides, that's just on this forum alone, who knows how many more might be out there. All I was saying is that, to the best of my knowledge, there isn't a group on this particular forum made solely for the pushing forth of a DLC that actually rivals that size.
Not the biggest ever, but big regardless, larger than the average group for things like DLC requests and the posts and threads about it are everywhere.

It's not huge, but it's a start.

Kind of my point...Alot of people hate Cerberus (with good reason) as do some folks hate the Alliance.  Which is why Im all about being "on my own side" so to speak lol.  It's bad enough that we're going to have to "unite the galaxy" a'la DA:O (which I guess was to be expected when you think about it.)  And the only way THAT will be a deal breaker with me is if I have to help/side with the Batarians in ANY aspect.  Hopefully we'll get an option like in DA:O when you went to help the Dalish and could side with the Werewolves instead of the Elves.  Because nothing would please me more than to wipe out every single one of those slaver bastards in the known galaxy right before squaring off with the Reapers.
