I recently installed a new hard drive and Windows 7. I installed ME from disk and Bringing Down the Sky. I have CD keys for both and have registered my game with EA, but when I attempt to load previous save games ME tells me that the game requires content (BDtS) that is not available. And every time I try installing BDtS - checking and rechecking to make certain I have entered the key correctly, I get the message that installation was canceled.

Any suggestions?

Trying to contact EA now, but their support site doesn't seem to want to work - bogging from so many tech questions? :)

Officially, EA will tell you that Win7 is not a supported OS for ME1. All I can suggest is is try doing a google search for your problem, as the search function on these forums sucks harder than a black holes gravity well.

I personally don't know that your on about bogsnot, I have contacted ea with a mass effect problem with my win7 computer and they have never had a problem helping me. If there are compatblity issues, it's easy to fix but xp or vista to win7 is normally very easy as they are similar. Not the same similar! If you don't mind me asking what has made u say ea official they deny the os as supported and wont help( I infered they won't help but correct me if I'm wrong)

Ok on with your question. I'm a bit confused your title says it was a failure but your thread says it's a cancelation. So I'll do both as ones very easy:

If it's a failure just do these simple steps

To enable the default admin account, please follow the instructions listed below:

1. Click Start.

2. Select All Programs.

3. Open Accessories.

4. Right Click on Command Prompt and select to run it as Admin.

5. Within Command Prompt up please input the following command line:net user administrator /active:yes

6. Hit enter on your keyboard and it should enabled the default admin account.

Once the default admin account is active, sign out of your current user account.

Once logged out, you should see and account listed as: Administrator.

To disable the default admin account we enabled, please follow the instructions listed below:

1. Click Start.

2. Select All Programs.

3. Open Accessories.

4. Right Click on Command Prompt and select to run it as Admin.

5. Within Command Prompt up please input the following command line:net user administrator /active:no

6. Hit enter on your keyboard and it should disable the default admin account

If it's canceled look to here:http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/131/index/1942301

If that's to complicated or you have gone over the installation limit contact ea for a new code as I have been able to get one off them... No joke I did get a new code

Since I'm on a iPad and can't edit my work I should inform you that you need to install the dlc in the admin account. The game will be there but you will need to redownload the dlc. This installation should carry over to your account like it did for me

Zesban has a good thread with steps that seem to have a high success rate.
