Meh, honestly, if of 100.000 people, 2 people say "she"...I don't care. At all.

On this forum that's definitely not true. I would bet about 43% at least refer to female.

That has nothing to do with this topic.

I believe Femme or Lady Hawke is receiving more publicity than Femme Shepard. When speaking about the main character Hawke: the pronouns "he or she" is mentioned interchangeably, albeit the picture of male Hawke is what we mostly see in advertisement (to a small degree, Lady Hawke's picture is shown. There is a screenshot of her amongst the images on the DAII Webpage (and in online magazines that discuss DAII) . Remember the first leaked video? It was all about Lady Hawke. We saw her in combat, looking awesome as she kicked butts.

Furthermore, in recent articles/reviews, both genders are mentioned; it seems Bioware is going out of its way to stress about Femme Hawke (and when interviewers refer to Hawke, they use him or her interchangeably; and one article was mainly about female Hawke.

I agree that Lady Hawke deserves more screen time: an official video or trailer dedicated solely to her; an image of her opposite Male Hawke (or just below to his right holding a two hander over her shoulder) on the official DA II site would be ideal.

The good news is, DA II is almost here (I am truly excited about that); there is still ample time yet for us to see more of Femme Hawke in both screen time and possibly a trailer. Let us just hope for the best; Bioware always delivers.

P.S. No, she will not suffer the same fate. Please see above.

I hope that is an exaggeration. We may have women beat by a wide margin but it is not remotely that large. Frankly, it is smaller than most would perceive.

In the case of Dragon Age...yes. Female players tend to play RPGs if they play yet I guess that we can agree on most players being male. Don't forget that female players playing a male Hawke don't count ;)

I thought female gamers kept to themselves and dont want attention. Who cares then if Dragon Age marketing does not attract new female gamers?

I have a greater problem with playing a voiced female character than I do a silent one, probably because there's a greater disconnect achievable if you play the silent version. As a result, I will probably stick to playing a male Hawke in DA2.

I suspect that herein lies the problem for most people.

Doesn't listen to Mecha, he's always getting hung up about girl gamers. Pretend he's like that one troll awhile back with the images. He'll go away if you ignore him.

So you were being sarcastic? Sarcasm sadly tends to get lost on internet forums Image IPB

lol this isnt about chest anymore

and I am really asking why should any of the female gamers care. You want to be noticed in the gaming industry? or you dont?

I would assume everyone, particularly "women." This female gamer here and her female friends are very vocal about playing RPGs, especially the ones that portray women in a good light, as intelligent, feminine (without the over sexualized clichés) and who can stand up for themselves toe to toe with males.

Do you know what? Bioware accomplishes this without over -sexualizing our female gender, especially the main playable character, and she is the one who matters, really (companions aside).

Why shouldn't they? I don't see what's so hard to understand about it.

from my experience, they prefer to remain unknown to avoid unwanted attentions, and to simply play the game in piece

I guess times has changed?

That's not really so much due to the character. Since English has no gender-neutral pronoun for referring to people, the default tends towards "he" because, historically, men were the ones writing everything, and now it's just convention.

This is it.

Also, FemShep is NOT an afterthought.

OP, I am also concerned about this. I wish they marketed to females more. But I also think everything that Wynne said in her above comments is true. It's just a shame that they don't market ME with FemShep because Jennifer Hale makes Mark Meer sound like he's reading a kindergarten book.

Who knows? Maybe FemHawke's VA will be far superior to MaleHawke, and she'll end up being another diamond in the rough. ;)

Will do, but his assumptions are truly outrageously ridiculous.

Why does every discussion about female protagonists always result in someone unfairly - and inaccurately - slamming Mark Meer?

I like Mark Meer ('s voice). And really, one doesn't need to say that Mark Meer SUCKS, SUCKS, SUUUUUCKS to prove that FemShep is awesome.
