2nd question. This is only my 3rd playthrough and never did ME1 so I'm learning everything as I go. I've gotten through once as renegade once as paragon and would like to understand better what benefits you get or how this helps you in the game. There isn't an obvious improvement in the character however that doesn't mean that the game changes still aren't there and am embedded in the game. I just finshed my 2nd game and was paragon and had close to max points however I couldn't tell you what the difference would have been if I hadn't swung that direction and instead gone renegade or just not cared and been nuetral.

2) I consider the Par/Ren system pretty lame; there are no real benefits having high scores though you'll need either one to keep Miranda & Jack, and Legion & Tali loyal. You get some extra options during some conversations, but that's about it.
In ME1 you could at least convince the final boss to blow his own brains out

And in ME2 3 Paragon or Renegade choices in one conversation gives you the option of recruiting a certain asari if you're tempted by the dark side.

Thank you for your reply. My very first game I was renegade all the way and had Jack and Miranda at the end and in my 2nd game where I was paragon I had both at the end. In both games I did all the loyalty quests.Bozorgmehr wrote...

So I guess I don't understand what you mean by "keeping Miranda and Jack". It is fun watching them fight and I laugh when Jack calls Miranda the "cheerleader". Needless to say they aren't best of freinds.

I think I have all the characters available so could you spoil me so I am sure? The assasin I have who's name I forget was made available to me by the chain smoker if I recall correctly. I got Kusami with Bioware points!

When you've completed Miranda and Jack's loyalty missions a cutscene on Normandy is triggered; Mir and Jack have an 'argument' and without enough points, in either Paragon or Renegade, you can't earn both their loyalities (Tali & Legion idem).
The Par/Ren points needed to unlock the conversation option (the red & blue replies) depend on Shep's level, but you'll need a fair supply for those options to becomce available. Chosing a different reply results in Miranda or Jack to remain/become unloyal.
It is, however, not hard to unlock both Paragon and Renegade replies in a single playthrough (for all conversations btw) if you talk to everybody and never select a 'neutral' (=middle) response

Samara's loyalty mission on Omega where you're looking for the asari fugitive; Morinth. When you get to her apartment and talk to her you'll get a paragon/renegade conversation option and after that two more, with the last one also requiring a large accumulation of points.
You basically need to select those options when they show up three times and afterwards when Samara and Morinth fight you'll get the option of choosing a side and become your squadmember while the other one doesn't, and this is the only way to recruit Morinth.
I've been vague on the spoilers to avoid spoiling of course. Hope this helps.

Just as I was saying I had never had a problem, I finish the Jack loyalty quest in my 3rd playthrough and Jack and Miranda go at it of course. What was different this time was some of my dialog choices were grey (left side of wheel) and in the end I lost Mirandas loyalty. She's the one who got me into all of this **** and now she pouts over a silly tatooed amazon? lolBozorgmehr wrote...

Will I lose her? Does she lose her upgrades from her Loyalty quest? I assume there isn't any way to make amends. I guess if I were more nuetral instead of very heavy Paragon this may not have happened?

There is no way to keep both of them loyal when you're lacking p/r points.
you won't lose her, but in order to regain her loyality you have to convince her using a paragon or renegade option, which requires a lot of paragon/renegade points.

Un-loyal squadies don't necessarily die during the Suicide Mission, but that's a bit complicated. You can find all the relevant info here.
[edit] you can always use Gibbed's save editor to 'correct' certain mistakes
