Do you choose to do the landsmeet brawl even when you win the landsmeet?

I win the landsmeet all the time, however, I still love doing the brawl anyway. I always found it funny and entertaining that a full-scale brawl occurs in the landsmeet. Heading straight into the duel with Loghain seems kind of stale to me.

I never do the brawl. I find it much more dignified to go straight to the duel and like that you can talk Loghain into acting with some honor even if he won't accept the vote. This is supposed to be a legitimate meeting of government, not a free-for-all.

I'm with Sarah, the free for all detracts from the Landsmeet, the duel is more fitting.

Hell yeah, I've done it before for specific Wardens for whom it would be fitting.

it does drive home the idiocy of Ferelden custom and the Landsmeet, in general.

I look forward to the Loghain showdown all game. I always take him on 1on1.

The brawl is fun to have once in a while. I usually just intentionally lose the vote, though, by telling Anora to take a long walk off a short pier into the Hafter.

I've never done the brawl (and never lost the Landsmeet or told Anora to take a walk - I always make her queen, with or without Alistair).

I once set off a Storm of the Century in there.

Depends on the character I'm playing to be honest. With my HN I go straight for the duel since it's fitting for her, but my mage was just itching to use blood magic in front of all those poncy nobles. My CE loses the landsmeet (even with Anora's vote, she manages to screw up all the other votes) so it's a free for all anyway, and she loves to be able to get her way despite losing the vote.

My Dalish also goes for the brawl even if she wins since she doesn't really care for the "formality" of the event. So that would be two out of three characters who win the Landsmeet and still go for the brawl.

I've always wondered though, considering neither party graciously accepts the outcome of the vote should they lose, why the hell didn't we go for the duel in the first place, instead of doing all the yada-yada.

The brawl is fun. Really though the whole meeting was just a mess and my PCs are usually so irritated that they want to punch someone.

Plus my "HULK SMASH!" characters can't think of anything else.

The way I see it is that you're trying to show you're willing to go by the laws of the land and try the peaceful route first. :)

This is Dragon Age. If you don't like being formal in settling a dispute, just attack with brute force.

I can't help but think that if it weren't for game mechanics, that would have been a really bad idea. I mean, the Grand Cleric was there and everything and blood magic is hardly subtle...

Im a blood mage but I only bust it out when things get *really* clusterf*cky so it stays believable in the regards of "Oh shoot, if anyone sees me do this I'll be a proven maleficar and be hunted down by templars which would really be bad.

That being said, I usually win the Landsmeet and Ive only had to do the brawl once (when I accidently said the wrong thing to Anora before the Landsmeet). Just cast Storm of the Century, Virulent Walking Bomb, and Mass Paralyze

Just once - the idea of dueling Loghain didn't really occur to my Dalish, so she just told him to bring it.

In the grand melee, he aggro'ed Dog. It was beautiful.

In Ferelden, the two are one in the same.

Sure, but who are we kidding, the peaceful route was never going to work! ^_^

Eh, there weren't that many Templars in the Landsmeet chamber (at least none that I noticed) so it shouldn't have been that hard for a blood mage to control those that would attempt to go hostile on them. Sure, this would also mean that you'd eventually start to get hunted by Templars but who cares.

Besides, that's hardly the point. My BM had been carrying a huge "I'M A BLOOD MAGE!" sign through the whole game without anyone noticing and I just wish there could've been a moment where a blood mage warden gets to scream in front of the whole world "I'm a blood mage!" and get acknowledged as such, if only to see the shock on the face of those who revere her as a hero (the Wynne confrontation doesn't count).

I can't bring myself to do it. I consider using force when persuasion was possible as a personal failure.

Given me ideas on how to reform the Landsmeet in the future...

Edit: oops, hit send to quick.

Anyway, some characters i have lsoe the Landsmeet, some win it. But fighting, I think, reflects and drives the point home of how bvackwards and disingenuis the landsmeet is. The fate of the nation being decided by two adults braining each other in front of an audience of what are supposed to be Ferelden's finest. And who ever wins, no matter how incompetant, wicked, retarded, whatever, that's who they will accept.

Instead of a more civilized, sensible approach of two adversaries stating their case, listing why everyone should support them, and then let it be discussed, compirimises and such worked out.

ya know, how um, an actual civilized society would make major descisions efefcting the country...

That is one way certainly to put the Banns in their place.
