Zaeed is okay but after reading his "retirement plans" I'm not so sure.

Just part of his bad-ass-edry.  Kinda like Hunter S. Thompson having Johnny Depp shoot his ashes out of a cannon.

Only Zaeed's plans have a higher body count.  As is generally the case.

The way I see it, only a handful of the crew will return for ME3. Zaeed, Jack, Mordin, Thane, and Samara all have reasons why they should not be in the team for ME3.

For a Renegade, Samara is definitely best avoided, but that encounter would make for some good gaming drama.  And she tells a Paragon that if they call for her, she will answer that call.  Both excellent reasons for the devs to include her, and the latter a good reason to put her on the squad.

I personally love Kasumi she is one of my favorite Characters in the whole Series I hope bioware brings her back as a full squadmember and a Love Interest for Male Shepard

I agree, I got the distinct impression while in dialogue with Samara that she will be returning, but it could be a one off, a moment when she is needed most.

Not very likely. They're DLC exclusive and can possibly die. You're looking at Email/Cameo at best.

Seeing how Joker and Liara are the only crew members who cannot possibly die in either game, do you think they'll be the only ones carrying over to ME3?

The DLC part I agree is a bit of a deal breaker when it comes to their possible inclusion in ME3, but the simple fact that they can die isn't really a hindrance

Ashley and Kaidan are interchangeable as is Wrex and Wreav. I don't want to start the classic debate, but I don't think any of the ME2 squadmates will be playable. I put playable in bold because people get stuck on the idea that "Not Playable = No role at all."

Yeah it will be a very fun game where you can pick up Liara, Big Ben and a Loki Mech that you can scrap a paper with the photo of Kaidan or Ashley because they are also killable.

I don't know if they will make it or not, but I hope so. Or at least cameo appearances. An option to romance Kasumi would be great too. I like her character and it'd be great to find out more about her past but you aren't allowed much dialogue with her in ME2. I was amazed at how much she did have to say and greatful she does make comments here and there. Still doesn't feel like a full member of the crew yet.

i don't get why people think because Ashley and Kaidan and Wrex were not recruitable in ME2, it straight up means that anyone who can be killed can never come back. They had their shot at mortality in ME1, whereas in 2, all squad members can die. My thinking is that if Ash, Kaidan, and Wrex could each die TWICE, things would get a little more convoluted and difficult in the file import. It goes along with Casey Hudson's former statements that they wanted to keep characters alive for ME3. As it stands, a ME2 Shepard whose entire team died still had at the very least two unkillable potential squadmates in the future. It would be a very ballsy move to limit people who got their whole team killed to Liara and the VS. Kind of a "serves you right for being a terrible leader" debuff.

I am of the opinion that the ME3 squadmates will simply be whoever has survived in ME2. Zaeed and Kasumi will probably appear in the "free DLC" that BioWare will be providing for ME3

Both Kasumi and Zaeed are part of the 'dirty dozen'. They'll be there along with the rest of the disciples.

Zaeed retiring... isn't it popular in movies to kill off a old cop that's retiring soon?...

BioWare, no, don't you think of that, i disagree!

Zaeed needs to return in ME3 in an epic cutscene where he saves Shepard's crew with Jessie.

Zaeed is an admittedly one-dimensional character but when that one dimension is that awesome it's fine. Wrex was the same way until a the plot calls for the visitation of a certain planet where he finally started to develop as a character.

Besides, he's the only squadmate that really stands up to Shepard and his loyalty mission was sick nasty no matter what path you chose. It even allowed for Paragons to feel edgy for once.

Zaeed and Kasumi should get bigger roles in ME3 than default ME2 squadmates -- to make newbies to the series more interested in getting the DLC and buying ME2 new.

"No one said you could talk, Jag-ass"
On my vanguard I would take Zaeed w/ his +50% damage, Inferno grenade, and concussive shot against the collectors. With the Incisor he was ridiculously awesome.
Anyway, Kasumi was awesome at stripping shields, and the CC from her flashbang grenade was pretty sweet.
Still, they were DLC. We're gonna have a hard enough time getting back the original squad-mates into ME3. Personally, I would like to see both of them make a return. Maybe this time they'll actually have dialogues with us instead of telling us their embellished stories / latest gossip
