 I have been unable to find this in the walkthrough or forums - maybe I'm just over looking something simple. I am in the process of KIngmaker doing the Manticore Caves. The way to the Manticore is blocked by a Stone door it appears and is locked. Without a Thief and unable to bash the door, I am unable to proceed. Is there anyway to open this door?

Well - I found out how to open the door, now I have another problem. The Manticore shoots me to spikes and after one hit, I'm dead - no chance to even run. What's going on? The walkthrough makes it sound so simple, yet this is a very difficult thing to do. Any advice? What are some other strategies others have used to do this?

Equipment:
Greater Archer Belt - very expensive; protects against piercing damage... a lot!

Are there any Endurance potions in Kingmaker?  Can't remember.  If so, boost your Con as high as possible.

Use 2 poison crystals.
Have your hench stand their ground outside the trap room.
Place crystals in barrels.
Make a save.
Attack (range is probably best) manticore to get its attention to move into room. Heal as needed until manticore enters room.
Throw lever to close door and crush barrels.  Wait a bit and watch combat log.
After manticore is dead, open door and retrieve hide.
At least that's how I did it.  If your PC is too low level to take the damage, do some of the other quests first.

Or if you're a caster class. Summon creatures in it's view until it uses up all the spikes. (A few times) and then you can lure it inside the room.

Diamond DVD compilation, for one.  Not sure whether GoG includes the premiums or not.  Easy enough to check if you are interested.
