Not "challenging" ideas, something fun. Not strictly "the best" or most effective build either, but something entertaining if you have separate ideas for each. I've played the game 30 hours, but got bored the second time through. At 30 hours in the first game I only felt like I had just figured it out, but it feels like I've already seen all of Mass Effect 2.
What do you think? I just started a new game as Infiltrator and only just finished Freedom's Progress, so if you have any good ideas for Infiltrator those would be the most convenient, but it can be anything.
And I am looking through the sticky thread, just looking for ideas in addition to those.
Need fun ideas

Well you could go CQC, pick a shotgun as your extra weapon, stead of just playing a classic sniper, you can instead use cloak to get up close, and catch the enemy in a crossfire.
I strongly recommend playing on hardcore or insanity, it makes the game way more fun, just don't play as a vanguard if you aren't used to difficulty.
Also recommend playing as adept on insanity, setting up warp bombs is boring, but some people have really created a much better playstyle as adepts.

You could go melee only. That`s always fun.

Adept with heavy pull/ full field, plus jacob jack or samara for 3 pulls. Pull your way through the mob, though you'll have to resort to warp/singularity/stasis for bosses.
For infiltrator, many different things. Just take a look in the three main threads for it (should be on the first few pages) Cqc with shotgun, cryo crowd control, neural shockwave for the ultimate staggering effect and disable, could even take dominate ai hacking and enhanced cloak for an invisible controller of the battlefield, or take a look at the videos in my sig for a brute force alternative to the shotgun.

I just wish the shotguns hadn't been so nerfed from the first game. It was overpowered, but it was fun and had strong sound effects. Now they're just a side weapon, you're either a soldier or you're using a submachine gun. No more shotgun specialist.

Really? You can still go with a shotgun as the main weapon, and they're all really well balanced relative to each other so you can't go wrong with any of them. The only thing you can't do as effectively (unless using the gps) is shooting people across the room.

The only thing the shotguns lost from ME1 is range, and the GPS is available if you want range on your shotgun. ME1's shotguns did minimal damage on higher difficulty levels and were largely used for crowd control. Carnage was nice, but nothing to write home about.
Shotguns in ME2 are exceedingly powerful, if you're comfortable in close combat, that is.
Edit: Here are two Infiltrator threads to peruse: Invasive Maneuvers and The Agent.

Squad Cryo ammo is great, and CQC infi is fun, but so is classic Widow infi. Enhanced cloak
Play around with bonus powers, could upgrade AI hacking, but imo its always a one pointer.
IDK there are only a few slight variations w/ an infi, although they can allow you to choose many different squaddies.

infiltrator can be fun if you take stasis and the shotgun. youll have alot of abilities and options at your disposal. maybe try a dominate engineer with a sniper rifle. that might be alot of support type gameplay which could be some fun as well.

Shotguns are underpowered?

WE DISAGREE.
p.s. Shotgun Engineers are fun, and different. The class in general gets no love, gets even less with a shotgun, although I attribute that to people not giving the class or build a chance and not it's actual fun/effectiveness factor.
