The return of the mineral scanner, who the hell came up with that idea, it's so damned primitive!

Requirement of a paid DLC to complete the game.

Being unable to obtain EDI's loyalty, I'll explain that one, TIM is one for planning ahead, he knows that especially the paragons will go against him, so it's logical he has had hidden programming placed in EDI for such eventuality.

Not being able to steal the normandy, I want the option to break away from cerberus in ME3, I will be severely pi$$ed if I find I'm again stuck with them.

I got more, but that's enough for now.

1. Harbinger is Shepard's father

2. No Thigh High Boots

3. It turns out The Reapers had good intentions and only wanted to be loved and want to learn how to feel emotions.

4. No Thigh High Boots

5. Somehow involves time traveling

6. There is not final boss fight that features Shepard fist fighting Harbinger in a galactic boxing match.

The final boss resembles something out of terminator like the last 2.

4) No squadmates coming back.

I think you will be sad then - at least with ME2 squaddies - given that you can kill off pretty much anyone from your team so they wouldn't (I assume) have any of them back since they can't count of who is leftover from ME2.

I imagine they would bring at least a couple back. And if they did bring back Kaidan/Ashley and Liara they would have to bring back the ME2 LI's because BioWare said they will treat all LI's equally.

Things that would disappoint me:

Not seeing Tali's face (or having her as a squad member, that goes for Garrus as well).

Not developing romances and having far, far, FAR more romance options.

Independence day'ing the ending (OMG guyz the reapers have assimilated billions of civilizations over trillions of years...ohh lookie we has a viruz. Upload = GG)

Not having a large variety of conversations with squad members (I don't mind not being able to talk to crewman no. 14, but not being able to talk to Garrus after the suicide mission? Come on.)

Losing your ME2 squad and having to rebuild the entire squad...again.

Stupid time sinks (enough with planet scanning, mako, hammerhead... if it can't be done well just dump it and use the resources on something else).

And the biggest and most difficult one to achieve by far: Not finding a decent balance between a vast universe and tight, interesting gameplay the WHOLE GAME (ME1 was too big, ME2 was too small...something in the middle, although if I had to choose I'd go with the ME2 direction).

1) Not given an option to make your own Normandy (decorations, armors, etc.)
2) Not bring the Mako back/no tracked ground vehicles
3) There are no new squadmates
4) Planet scanning which is stupid
5) Hammerhead is returned (it's ok to put the sharks in Earth's ocean but not that hovering plastic thing)

Or, if they end ME3 with a wedding between Shep and the love interest I will be pissed.  That would be so utterly cliche.  Bioware is better than that type of garbage, predictable ending.

OR, they could have multiple endings to please everyone. It might be garbage to you, but to plenty of others. it isn't.

I think Shepard sacrificing him/herself is incredibly cliche and been done way too many times. It's really old. The only answer is multiple different endings for your Shepard depending on your choices.

1. If Garrus and Tali are not present. Sorry but I like to state my opinion. They are my two favorites. This would ****** me off personally, lets not get into whose better than who. Its just my opinion.

This.

4. New squad members. Bioware spend the entirety of ME2 building up relationships with your squad. I know some crazy people have done 2 survivor imports, but Bioware should seriously punish you in ME3 if you lost people in ME2. I do not want another ME2 run around and collect people style game. Bottom line, I will be pissed off more than any of the previous three if BW gives us new squad members in ME3.

You should prepare to be upset then. There is no way that BioWare is going to give us no new squadmates. Maybe we will only get a few but there will be no way that we will get none.

Anyway, things that would ****** me off:

1.) Forced "sacrifice yourself" ending

2.) Not knowing the origins of the Reapers (it would drive me nuts)

3.) Timed conversations

4.) Squadmates not returning

5.) Not showing Tali's face

6.) Story elements left unanswered

7.) No helmet toggle

8.) Being even more linear than ME2

9.) No vehicle

I would hate to find out that humans were somehow the creators of the Reapers. (Basically time travel at its worst)

We know that using the knowledge found and recovered from Sovereign's body at the site of the battle of the Citadel, Cerberus uses that technology to create EDI. (or specifically her A.I.) Due to the events of the second game which EDI becomes unshackled and expands her knowledge-database by incorporating data found from the Collector vessel to help defeat them, she gains immense power and regards her sentience as necessary for saving life in the universe. During further events as revealed in the third game Shepard finds another Prothean artifact. They learn that the Reapers are too powerful for an all-out frontal assault. Liara discovers that "the creatures of light" mentioned on Klencory were actually in reference to the so-called big-bang of the universe. This is said to be the only thing powerful enough to kill (or stop) Reapers. Shepard with the help of the cipher in his/her brain learns a way to re-wire a Mass Relay to act not as a conduit to other galactic sectors, but as a focal point to a time portal to the universe's creation. EDI volunteers to sacrifice herself and lead the Reapers there "beyond time's beginning" in an effort to defeat them. The plan works and they attempt to follow her into the rift believing that Shepard and company are also with her.  Before they reach it however Cerberus intervenes by somehow releasing a wave of dark energy that destroys the entire Reaper fleet. They are declared heroes. The blast wave however sends EDI through the rift and transported back in time to "before-time". After the battle ends we receive an email or a Holo-projector message from some nameless researcher (maybe even Liara) telling us that the Derelict Reaper that was found and boarded in Mass Effect 2 Orbiting Mnemosyne that was supposedly destroyed while gathering the IFF and Legion, survived after all. They found that it was named Edie. Mordin mentions that based on this evidence it seems evident that "their EDI became insane/rampant over the eons of time and spawned a race of children to eventually follow on in her footsteps". She eventually realized her folly and sought to destroy her children. Too late to affect any victory against her "kids" she sacrifices herself in order to use her body to carry an encoded message for thousands of years. She trusts that Liara, Mordin, and the others will eventually find it and learn the truth of her offspring.

In essence EDI was a proto-Reaper the entire time...One that simply lost her way. This would be a closed time loop of sorts...humans creating EDI based on tech they themselves created eons ago due to time travel tampering...

Damn, that...You... You really thought that one out huh.

I like how you tied it up though, But Mass Effect, despite being a space opera, has had some level of scientific plausibility, Anything to do with Time travel, other than forward would be a bad move.

If however, Shep and his team of snazzy scientists and Martin Sheen build a mass effect core powerful enough, Shep might take some of each race forward in time about oh say 50k years, re-populate and re-unite with the new races of peoples in the galaxy, like Space Noah in some kind of Ark-mandy.

Now, I would hate to see that, So heres to hoping time travel is left on wikipedia articles and out of our mass effect.

Yeah, the concept of loop stories just bug me. Years ago I had the misforture of reading a loop story told around one of my favorite sci-fi kiddie shows back in the day Robotech...The Del Rey book "End of The Circle" ended up by saying something like "Lynn Minmai (I think that's how her name's spelled) and Zor travel to the past and end up creating the whole loop that started the protoculture story...maybe someone here remembers this and can clerify specifics. In any case, when I read it...I total facepalmed. I never looked at Robotech the same again.

I would not be very happy if:

Tali, Garrus, and Miranda are not squadmates.

The game is short.

There is a generic ending that does not tie loose ends.

My choices from the first two games do not have serious consequences. That being said, I want TIM and Cerberus trying to kill me and my squadmates for having blown up the Collector base.

There are no consequences for surviving squadmates that are not loyal. It would be interesting to maybe see them turn on me, maybe they begin working for TIM.

There is still a long time until Mass Effect 3 is released, but I know I will be pleased with whatever it is Bioware release. They've released the best games I've played and I have no doubt they will continue to do so.

Correct me if im interpreting your 4. wrong, but why should you not go around recruiting people again?
If BW do it your way and not let you recruit people in ME3, You probably wont be able to win at all and will have to go play ME2 AGAIN, and make sure everyone survives, and if you're like me, that means playing ME1 again too. (though ill take almost any excuse to play through again, it would be a pain in the backside to play 40-80 hours worth of two games, depending on how you play, just to play a personal Mass Effect 3)

I say if people die, You should Have to recruit people to take their place, build relationships with them and earn loyalty, But not the whole squad of course (unless they're all dead).
Otherwise whats the point?

If everyone but shep dies, is he supposed to fight alone?
That would be a sad day :(
Unless of course you meant ALL new squad members. In which case, yeah me too.

However, I agree about Garrus, Tali, TIM.
If Mr Elusive, Garrus and Jack aren't in 3, somebody is going to have to open a pretty sharply worded email, detailing their mothers antics, body size and hygiene habits!

1. Thane gets an instant cure that requires no effort.

2. The Reapers are defeated too easily.
2a. The final battle is cheesy.

3. The choices made in the first two games are carried over badly in ME3.

4. Zaeed doesn't make his triumphant return to battle with me.

5. The "level-up" system from ME1 isn't brought back.

Thats actually a super interesting theory...I like it. Though...that would really be a downer. I'm hoping that we get a crazy twist though for the whole Reaper theory. But, if I remember correctly, Casey Hudson said that they are going where no one would imagine....so....it's possible. Maybe that IS how dark energy will be used.

I got at least 5 things that would ****** me off...

- Not being able to kill TIM.

- Story could be less interesting than it's predecessors.

- The endings could be boring.

- Some of my favourite characters would not be coming back.

- Too much glitches à la New Vegas.

Not being able to talk to DLCharacters like Main Squad members

Everyone surviving ME3 would cheese me off,
Everyone should be able to die, Some of the deaths should be really sad others heated, others surprise! Reaper Gunner! like, imma firin mah mass accelerator weapon! pew! pew!

Also, the ablity to put stuff in storage on the normandy, the 150 item limit in ME1 was a pain, just getting guns/upgrades/armor ALL THE TIME with no prompt, nor any place to put em. Just 'Convert to omni-gel'.

That and more open worlds would be nice, being able to walk around an area in whatever manner we please, not just A2B Cattle drive crap.

Lack of Mass Effect merch, no affect to the game, but posters and mugs are nice.

Edit:

1. The game is short and linear/ Comes on one DVD 9 disc. Less than 40 hours.

2. More focus on Multiplayer and DLC "story" packs to finish the game.

3. Multiplayer is copied from GOW, instead of being an extension of the storyline (i.e A cooperative multiplayer experience, completing objectives and fending off hoards of "bad guys".)

4. More attention is given to Multiplayer than to the Campaign.

5. They don't figure out how to incorporate some sort of vehicle without screwing
it up.

6. They don't make choices like keeping grayboxes or choosing between Samara or her daughter, and even who did or did not survive ME2 and ME1 significant game changing scenarios.

7. "Super Mecha Terminator 9000 Human Larva thing" reappears!!!! (Worst end game boss ever!) Why could we not have just fought the Collector General? And during his death, have him reveal insightful info about the fall of the Prothean civilization.

8. DLC packs that are needed to get the "whole" story.

9. Frame Rate issues on 360 or PS3.

10. Less than 29 weapons... (Think about it.)

11. Less than 7 pieces of Armor... And if the classic N7 Onyx doesn't return.....

12. Any sort of Deus Ex Machina ending. You create an epic scifi space opera, you better have a good and logical way to end it.

13. Stupid Cerberus Network issues on Day One.

14. Retailer specific DLC.

15. Console specific DLC.

16. Spin Off specific DLC. No buying comics, books, iPhone games, and or some other social media crap for a code to unlock a stupid set of armor or mission that should be in the final game anyways.

17. Spending half the game to recuit another "strike team" to take on the "bad guys".

18. Bugged Save File transfer system...

19. Record Female/Female or Male/Male romance dialogue and chicken out once again. Honestly its 2010, if all you care about is appeasing stupid ignorant GOW or COD players then stop making video games. But its even more perplexing because Dragon Age Origins had it? Or do you just think SciFi fans are all bigots?

20. Releasing 8 different ME3 soundtracks, because every theme or music genre needs it's own $4.99 soundtrack.

21. Limited Edition Collector's version that has something everyone should have.

22. Codex entries without pictures! and voice overs!

I am sure I will think of more in the future.

- Undoubtedly, my ire would draw most fierce if characters from ME and ME2 were rendered to off-shot, five second cameos. I could be content with their being cameo but only if they received a LotSB-esque individual mission.

- Our decisions are trivialized to inconsequential afterthoughts such as the Council.

- A multiplayer component of any capacity. I am not naive enough to believe this shall not impact the single player in a less than beneficial way.

- Planet scanning being a mandatory necessity to complete the game should I desire the 'good ending.'

- The abomination, ahem, Hammerhead returns without a severely needed overhaul.

- If the ending is contrived, utilizing a punishingly insulting Deus Ex Machina. An example would be hacking them all.

- A larger degree of customization for armor, all of which allot for separate pieces. No Bioware, I am not accepting an excuse for no helmet toggle. If your art designer has difficulty drawing such, find a new one.

- I have recruited seventeen characters (eighteen if Morinth is counted.) I have no further want nor desire to recruit many others. In actuality, any new squad mates is my compromising.

- Any Mission Complete or Loading Screens. If the alternative is slow moving elevators to mask loading, so be it.I had no qualms with them originally.

- Minimal to nonexistent character banter.

- The primary focus of the game is centralized around Earth and Humanity's struggles. There is an entire galaxy. I expect it to be just as imperil and furthermore, expect to be helping them.

- The Reaper invasion is sidelined for a large portion of the game, if not until the conclusion and the Reapers as a whole are scarcely mentioned due to some minor distraction. (Read: Mass Effect 2)

- Any form of restricted DLC via commercialized promotions or pre-ordering.

- Non-separate animations for Femshep. A female stature is different from that of her male counterpart. Therefore, they walk and run differently. In addition, women do not sit exposing their crotch whilst wearing a dress. Seriously, Bioware. That was embarrassing.
