Are there any plans to release Baldur's Gate series on steam? I have just about 5 different copies on CD and would love to get rid of them all just get them all on steam.

You can get them at GoG and get rid of those CDs if you like. No DRM whatsoever on GoG games.

I've heard about that. I would really prefer to just have it organized on steam, though. Thank you. :)

In that case you need to ask on the atari forums. Last I knew thay owend Baldeur's gate now. But Atari and Hasbro are currently fighting in court over the DnD liaccence so hard telling if that will remain the case.

Yep, I didn't want to say anything about Steam release plans, mainly because I don't know of any and Bio/EA wouldn't be involved.

I don't think it will be released on Steam. It could, possibly, but there are a lot of technical problems for example tons of people who own Nvidia Graphics Cards (Like half the members on Steam) would receive a the black inventory glitch, thing. Neverwinter Nights 2 was recently released on Steam, so if that sells well, Baldur's Gate could possibly be released on Steam.

Hey! I found out you can purchase the Baldur's Gate 1 Set (Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast) on GOG for 9.99$! You can also purchase the second Baldur's Gate set for the same price! It may not be exactly Steam, but if you really wanted it you could buy it from there. They also have a lot of other games similar to it too.

EDIT: Somebody already posted that haha sorry. I didn't realize.Image IPB

Personally, I think you're better off buying it from GOG, as there's no DRM, you can install it as many times on as many machines as you like, there's no client that needs to run in order to play, and you can re-DL as much as you want as well.

Awesome. I was thinking about how much more convenient it would be to have BG1 and 2 on Steam, but having it on Impulse is fine too. It does make me wonder when it'll make an appearance on Steam though, considering that Impulse has it now...

Nah, GoG better. It has bonuses at least - OST, arts. This is really nice.

But anyway, it easy for me, I use 2 DD shops - steam and gog. Nothing more needed.

You can have Steam scan your computer for non-Steam games if you want the quicklinks to them listed with your Steam titles, you know.

It's just not the same, since you still need a CD check. Besides that, the Steam overlay doesn't seem to work in-game for BG1. Haven't tried BG2.

It's actually a bit more convenient to have the BG series on a distributor other than Steam, since you can play the game while waiting for a download on Steam, rather than Steam stopping the download while you play the game.

@Erunion

Yeah, I know, I have a few like that and it is linked up to my current install, but I like being able to install it directly from steam and store all my saves on their servers. It's mostly my OCD that makes me want it all on Steam. If I could I'd totally bum whoever owns Might and Magic (and Heroes) to put theirs on, too, but can't get everything.

I'm willing to wait and see.

Raising this thread up from the dead. :innocent:

No date yet, and it's weird that they're releasing 2 and not 1 (although, maybe 1 has a obfuscated name in the registry?).

"Baldur's Gate 2: Complete coming to Steam

Just found it in the Steam registry, app number 99140 for anyone interested.

Hopefully it appears on the Steam Store soon!"
