Alien Romance?

Numerous people in this thread have said that the alien aspects of the characters are beside the point. So at the very least your characterization isn't accurate. At least some of the fans of those LIs are interested in a character because of their writing and voice acting- the personality, not lusting after talons and scales.GodWood wrote...
I'll admit I don't know how most people define the term "furry" but I have always used it to describe someone who has an attraction to a fictional anthropomorphic animal type character or characters.
So by that definition people who are attracted to someone like Garrus, Thane or Tali are furry fans and there is nothing inherently wrong with that.
I don't know why people take such offense to the term.
Miranda's romance might come down to the T & A for some people, but that doesn't have to translate to the other LIs.

Nah, not really.leonia42 wrote...
Would you consider a twi'lek to be a furry?
They're just humans with funny hats.
I'm not saying they are animals, I'm saying they look like animals.I really don't think you can treat alien races to animals at all. Even ones that have fur.
Turians - raptors, Drell - frogs, Quarians - bucket chicken things, Rachni - lobster cockroaches etc.
Just like how from an alien's perspective humans would look like weird hairless chimps.

I remember how ticked off I get in ME1 when I went to the Citadel with Ashley and she remarked, "I can't tell the aliens from the animals", or something like that. Really, Ash? Really?? <_<
You do realise that this is a bug, yes? She was only supposed to say this in close vicinity of a keeper.

Not true, because no where in my characterization did I say the attraction has to exist because of the alien features.Addai67 wrote...

I feel I should mention I one of those people who advocated Garrus be a romance option after ME1.
Evidently you believe being attracted to alien raptor-humanoid creature doesn't make one a furry (nor is the creature a furry).kglaser wrote...
Some people I know remind me of animals, too (i.e., people who look like their pets; I'm sure we've all seen the pictures of those). By this logic, we should call them furries, as well.
So by your standards what exactly is a furry?

No, I didn't know that. Thanks, that's interesting..
But even considering that, I feel that it's an inappropriate comment. Like there are a bunch of animals running all over the Citadel, or something. This is simply my opinion, of course.

To be honest, I've never really thought about it before. Maybe I'm a furry, maybe I'm not. Very frankly, I really don't care what my label says; it doesn't bother me. What did stop me long enough to engage in this discourse was your broad comparison of the ME aliens to animals, which, personally, I find to be at best disingenuous and not wholly accurate, and at worst, insulting to aliens.
As with all my posts, this is, of course, MHO.

It fits her character - she isn't appropriate all the time.
She has a very foot-in-mouth personality at times - just look at her interaction with Shepard and Kaidan overlooking the Citadel. Combine that with her family history, her being stationed mostly groundside, and lack of experience in dealing and working with other races, and you'll get the picture. Ashley isn't xenophobic - she even dismisses the Terra Firma party as xenophobic "jackals" who are filled with anti-alien paranoia.

I'm willing to listen to her conversations again, and judge for myself.
BW characters are quite complex, after all.
I will *always* hate that comment, though.

I'm willing to give everyone a chance. I don't get all the closed-minded hate on the general forums, I really don't.

My favorite character is a talented VO, a bunch of polygons, and some awesome BW writing. How about everyone else's?
