Did she really?? :o

DAMN! I gotta go back and listen to that more carefully.

She's also the nameless asari who passes along the Rachni queen's gratitude.

OH SNAP!!!!!!

But seriously, I couldn't care any less. No different from watching my favorite actors over and over and over again.

Wow had no clue!

Wow, if she can inflect her tone and deliver such a high quality voice, why in the world did they have her keep her regular voice for doin the Quarian??

Seems like a real no brainer decision for me. Unless they did it on purpose to create fan chatter about her being in the game... I dunno. I guess I just wish she applied the same quality voice differentiation when she did the Quarian.

Claudia Black is THE quintessential female sci-fi/fantasy voice actress and I, for one, would really like to hear more from her not less. But that's just me.

Wow, you really have a problem here.

I don't even care to know who voices who and never had a problem with this. I think no knowledge is a good thing in this case.

Because her character was basically the quarian version of Morrigan.  I'm pretty sure you're supposed to go "Oh. Space Morrigan!".  BTW, why aren't you equally put out over Simon Templeman who was also in DAO, multiple roles in ME2 (Han'Gerrel, in the very same room as Xen no less), Uncharted 2 (admittedly, a bit part in that), God of War III, and a bajillion other games?  Or are you?

Uh dude...I think you missed the point of my post. I only used Illusive man as an example, and I said that eventually its not as noticeable.

Further more, how do you watch any movies? Ellen Ripley sounds a lot like Sigourney Weaver. Oh, no.

Uh...Sigourney Weaver is not a character...she's the real person who acts the character of Ellen Ripley...so ....yeah.

Did you read the OP?

Did you read the OP?

You are complaining that familiar voices break the immersion of a game for you. Now read what I wrote before, and then think about it.

Going by what you are saying, you cannot enjoy Assassin's Creed and Uncharted, because Desmond Miles and Nathan Drake are the same person.

Ok, that's really pretentious and condescending saying that being the OP I didn't read what I wrote. It really reads like you're lashing out instead of simply saying that you misunderstood or misread.

I simply asked you if you read my op because your answers seemed confused and irrelevant. As they still do.

I am not complaining about generic familiar voices in games, whether its ME2 or not. In fact, as I already stated before, even though I personally found it weird to listen to the Illusive Man, I said I got over it.

Furthermore, I was talking about ME2 and Claudia Black, not AC or UC. I was saying how Claudia Black is more noticeable (at least to me) because she is featured in several games in a short time span and with no inflection in her tone, basically keeping her voice the exact same every time.

You still haven't responded to anything I've said about Claudia Black, instead making sweeping generalizations and assumptions on what I've wrote.

I'll type it like this, so you understand:

"Furthermore, I was talking about ME2 and Claudia Black, not AC or UC. I was saying how Claudia Black is more noticeable (at least to me) because she is featured in several games in a short time span and with no inflection in her tone, basically keeping her voice the exact same every time."

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood just came out, as did Uncharted: Among Thieves, and both main characters are voiced by Nolan North with no inflection in his tone, basically keeping his voice the exact same both times. As a matter of fact, he also voiced the main character in Dark Void in the exact same way. He has a very distinct voice, but it does not ruin my immersion in the fiction.
I don't need to mention Claudia Black, because your complaint isn't about her, it's about the over-use of a familiar voice-actor ruining your immersion; however, if you want me to mention Claudia Black, she also voices Nathan Drake's love interest in Uncharted 2.

Ta-da!

I used to watch The West Wing and I'm not bothered by Martin Sheen.

I watched the first three seasons of Farscape and I'm not bothered by Claudia Black.

So, wait.  Does this mean she's going to show up on the Normandy on the night before the big final battle with the Reapers and insist that the only way to survive is if I let her make creepy half-quarian babies with my LI?

I don't have that problem. Sure, sometimes in movies actors image is affeting too, because acted sertain kind of roles. But I don't think it's any problem in games, because at least they can look totally different.

I learned after the first couple of movies that I watched that I should just pretend that the actors are the characters, and not fixate on other places I might have seen the actors.

Like... I didn't expect Captain Jack Sparrow to down a bunch of LSD out in the desert because of another characters portrayed Johnny Depp.  I also never assumed that Joker was animating episodes of Robot Chicken in the cockpit with EDI.

Actually, the only problem I have in this department is that I find myself pretending that Kaiden is Carth Onasi.  But I'm pretty sure that is my fault, not Bioware's or Raphael Sbarge's.

I dunno, I don't have an issue with things like that. It was a little startling at first to discover that Loghain was not only a quarian but also a morally questionable Cerberus scientist, but I got over it.

Whats the problem with famous voice actors? I'm really sure you prefer "Blizzard style" eh... with Metzen doing 3/4 of the voices of World of Warcraft.

You aren't very bright are you? Let me rephrase what he said:

I can't watch Avatar because Sigourney Weaver breaks my immersion because she played Ellen Ripley in the Alien movies.

Compare this with your statement:

I can't play Mass Effect 2 because Claudia Black breaks my immersion because she voiced Morrigan in Dragon Age: Origins.

Thats an interesting opinion, and your welcome to it. But I have to disagree. I like all the cameo voice acting. If you ask for Claudia Black to stop giving voice to characters because you cant see past her other work do you also want the other voice actors who cameoed voices in the game to stop just because they have been in other things? Like Michael Dorn (Worf) voicing the Rival Krogan on Tuchanka or the guy from Firefly voicing Kal Reegar? Or Carrie Ann-Moss (Matrix) who voiced Aria. And what if these actors enjoy voice acting, and dont do it just for money but because they enjoy it and bringing joy to fans.
Anyway, ,thats my view on it.

Summed it up well enough. Those actor's gave great characters great voices. Specially Reegar. He was epic.

Plus, I'd be sad if Claudia Black couldn't voice characters anymore. Sometimes I stop by Eternity just to hear the bartender talk. Such a sexy voice omg...

Also, Claudia is a great actress.

Big Nothing, it's obvious that you keep putting forward your own opinion about other games and how other voice actors are used for them. You may think they sound the same, i don't, thats fine whatever.

We could keep talking back and forth ad nauseam because you think you're right and believe that I should say I'm wrong for disliking Claudia Black in everything I see or play because you refer to other games that have shared actors.

Also, when trying to explain the irrelevant posts you originally made, you quote my responses to other people, out of context, and when they were made after your original posts, providing for absolutely zero solidity to your..."argument".

My complaint has nothing to do with Claudia Black?...<_<...so remind me why you got all upset and asked me if I read my original post when I asked you if you had read the op?

On top of all these fundamental problems, your tone, condescension and pretensiousness throughout your posts discourages me from trying to discuss this with you further.

So whatever you want. You're "right" because Assassin's Creed and Uncharted share the same voice actor.

Sorry but just like movies and TV shows, a "big" named actor pulls in the viewers. I always look to see who the VA's are on games. I make a point of reading through the end credits just to see if I was right about a particular carracter or if there were any stars that I missed.

I like hearing famous voices in games so don't stop it!
