Sorry but just like movies and TV shows, a "big" named actor pulls in the viewers. I always look to see who the VA's are on games. I make a point of reading through the end credits just to see if I was right about a particular carracter or if there were any stars that I missed.

I like hearing famous voices in games so don't stop it!

So do I, I'm not saying that she's a bad actress, I'm just confused why they would make her act using her regular "recognizable" voice when she can obviously do awesome voices like when she did the bartender on Illium.

Especially when she has so many other game roles that use the same exact voice...

I cant play femshep because I always remember of Mazy Fountain, so a diminutive wannabe paladin saving the galaxy is a no-no.

Ok, now you're just trolling. Of course, she's gotten older but she's not old. As far as I'm concerned she's still a hottie. And sexyness is not all about looks you know.

Somehow I see no second and a lot of ppl opposed to your request.

Seriously though, after reading this, I'm asking myself how you can watch the same actor or actress as different characters. I mean, can you watch David Boreanaz as Angel and Booth? or would you have to choose one?

Personally, I'd love to see or rather hear more of Claudia Black in ME3, meaning of course that her characters return.

Look, having a different opinion than others is not trolling. I don't think I've done or said anything to merit being called a troll.

Just because I don't agree doesn't make me a troll. In fact, calling people who disagree with you a troll just because they disagree would merit being called one much more.

I was just trying to point out that, while she definitely was sexy a while ago, today she has reached a certain age that makes me feel like she could be my mom. If you think that's sexy, great.

I mean, she hasn't exactly aged well... Without trying to be mean, there is just a realistic age when a women stops being a "sexy" lady and is just a "lady". There's nothing wrong with that. It's just the way age works...

By the way, just because she's 38 doesn't mean she's not old. If you look at how she hasn't exactly aged well, it's a fair assertion to say that someone is old or at least older, especially when refering to an environment like games, tv or movies.

Of course, that's objectivity. I realize that die hard fans of Mrs. Black would disagree, but that doesn't mean that it's not true.

Edit: None of this has anything to do with why I didn't like the way she voiced the Quarian but whatever.

Hey, you came off as pretty condescending. In any case, she is not even 40 yet. If you think that is when people stop being sexy then I'm guessing you're still quite young. My stance on this subject has nothing to do with me being a fan of Claudia Black. Live a little and get back to me.

You want us to think your mom is sexy?  Wait, what?  :blink::(

Also, your opinion is your opinion and my opinion of your opinion is that your opinion is dumb.  The logic goes together okay, but the content is empty really.  I fail to see any point to it.

Yes, you am be trolling.  You can't state your opinion about her being too famous for anyone to enjoy, then follow it up with a nonsene argument that she's ugly and expect not to get called out for it.  And when you do get called out for it, don't burst out in tears and say it's not fair people responded to your argument.

Meh, thread over.  I'm out.

The only time I remember this bothering me is when I got to Orzammar in DA:O and suddenly everyone sounded like extras from Mass Effect. They weren't actors I recognized, but it was very clear that this was the same five people who voice every faceless/nameless character in every BW game...

lol what? I came off as condescending because I call you out on calling me a troll for not agreeing with you?

Or am I condescending because you misquote me as saying that "anything over 40 is old and not sexy"?

Just so you know the last sentence you wrote is about as condescending as you can get. I can assure you I don't need to "live a little and get back to you". Thanks.

I don't understand why some people can't discuss something while disagreeing without first blatantly insulting someone, then acting superior trying to claim some kind of psuedo moral high ground when they get called out for it.

I never found her sexy, but hey I go more for cute than femme fatale.  And persoanlly I'd of assumed she was older than 38 from her apearance, I'm roughly her age and none of the women around me show that much age.  And we aren't actors with plastic surgeons and stuff.  But if your mom is in her age range, I'd say does she know you are on the internet kid.  :)

As for her voice acting.  I'm okay with it becuase they have enough different voices that they can fit in the big name ones as well.  What gets me are the games where they land the big name guy and then end up having one default guy voicing every human male.

"He said what?!"

As for the actual request, I do prefer "anonymous" talent.
To make a comparison: while Martin Sheen is a very accomplished actor, his performance in ME2 suffered from that constant knowledge that this was, indeed, Martin Sheen.
In contrast, Alpha Protocol's smoking-enigma-in-a-suit, Henry Leland, was voiced brilliantly by Fred Tatasciore, and because of his rich yet varied register, I didn't know this was the man responsible for voicing Saren until after I'd checked up on his previous credits.

I'm not sure why I keep bothering with this. I had a problem with your response to my first post in this thread in which you posted a pic of Claudia to make a point of how unsexy she supposedly is and acted like I was a crazy person for thinking otherwise (that's condescending).
Then you went on to say that she is too old and could be your mom. Your mom perhaps, she couldn't be mine (well...maybe but she would have had to be in her teens then). Hence that is in no way a solid argument on your part.
But ok, you claim that age does not matter, it's just that Claudia hasn't aged well? By Hollywood standards where every actress has botoxed their face to hell by that age you mean?

And I called you out on your age simply because as people get older they get a bit more realistic views as far as standards of beauty are concerned (and what is considered old).

I'm done.

I honestly don't care if Claudia Black keeps doing voice work. If she's able to pull out a different performance in every role she's in, awesome. It's her job to be a chameleon. If she's in the soundbooth at the age of 80 and still sounds like she was about a quarter of her age? Great. None of us cares what she looks like when she's on the mic.

I'm surprised no one's said a thing about Seth Green as Joker. I hear Joker's voice I think oh hay it's Seth Green. But then again the dude's delivery is so funny no one really cares.

Your sense of immersion is really that weak? I mean, voices I recognize don't bother me because my immersion is literally non-existent, but just because you recognize an actor isn't reason to break immersion. I'm starting to think that that "immersion" everyone talks about is just a trend used liberally to every complain when lacking other arguments...

Voiceactors should at least try to use a different voice in different games. Sometimes they are {i]too[/i] recognizable. Like the obvious Nolan North but Jen Taylor is also a good example. It does break immersion for me.

Michael Dorn too, btw, he'll always be Worf to me. :P

Agreed. She knows her stuff, and can easily assume different intonations. I'm still surprised she was responsible for Aethyta. That was a fabtastic performance.

Green's voice is very, very grating.
