Maybe she thought it was ok to, not being her time of the month. So no chance of pregnancy, and no one would know they did it. Also, would have been one hell of a mood breaker to watch Shep and Ash fiddle around with prophylactics for 5 minutes.

Exactly. Shepard just cranks up Stronger by Kanye and he's good to go. No foreplay.

Here is a timeline:

                                                          (Years)
0                                                              1                                                            2
                  |--Ashley's Pregnancy--|
|--|Coitus|--|Shepard's Death|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|--|Shepard's Resurrection|--|

So, from this informative timeline we can see that

- the sex lasted for ~2 months (straight)

- It took Shepard ~6 months to die of suffocation in space (hope he brought a deck of cards or something)

Shepard is a god.

Also, this thread is hilarious.

The odds are that Ashley, given her situation and not being a moron, is on birth control anyway.

Or maybe she aborted it. Ohh, drama in Mass Effect 3! Eek!

Seriously, it's not like Shepard was busy saving the galaxy from Sovereign or anything,

Maybe shepard did both, at the same time.

That would have showed Fox news.

While it could be an interesting storyline idea, that Ash has a Shep-toddler being looked after by her sisters while on active duty, it would have to be handled just right, or risk sinking into terminal cheesiness.

Personally I find it highly unlikely, since if it happened to one ME 1 LI, it would likely happen to all and:

1) I did not see a blue baby running around in LOTSB

and

2) The only way it could happen with Kaiden would be if he got hold of Shep's DNA and made a "genetic twin" of her to raise as his daughter.  And that would be all sorts of creepy.

I always assumed that the Alliance had a similar policy to the Navy in the Honorverse. If you want to serve on a starship, you must have an implant to prevent pregnancy. Otherwise, what is a ship on covert ops going to do, pull over to replace crew members because someone was careless? You can have all the regs you want, but people will break them (for some Shepards many times over ;) ), so it seems the better policy to ensure no one is put in a difficult situation.

In the Mass Effect universe, ship tours are measured in weeks, not months.

It'd be far more akin to what occurs in the Army: it happens, you note it, and then at the next feasible opportunity pregnant woman is transferred elsewhere.

Makes sense.  As I said, I had assumed, so the possibility never really occured to me.

Well, even assuming that's the case, there's always the chance that someone will forget to check the expiration date on the implant Posted Image

If she can die in ME 1, then I highly doubt she is "with child".

I don't think someone like Shepard fires blanks.  Ever.

All rounds are live rounds. The ovum looks like swiss cheese after Shepard's tadpoles get at it.

Ashley will give birth to a litter.

More like a legion.
