Who made his design? It seems less ornate. Although it does use in-game assets like the ancient elven helmet, the oath-keeper sword, and a generic massive armor. Although I like the unique shield texture.

I suppose my point was more that once Bioware was given these dynamic, interesting character designs (in Leliana's case, it was mostly just actually adapting her concept art), and used them as their primary marketing materials, it's too bad that they didn't also think it was a good idea to see these materials reflected in the game itself.
I have a more general nitpick in that it irritates me that the in-game character/armor/weapon design is so dull and unimaginative after looking at the far more exciting and unique character art. Prime examples are Zevran (white hair, feathers, far more exotic and frightening appearance), Leliana (Chantry rogue armor, extremely intricate and detailed, nowhere to be found), Alistair (elaborate Templar uniform with cape and other cool details, also non-existent). Wynne is also painfully dull compared to her artwork. It doesn't help that the companions all use generic hairstyles from the character creator (except Morrigan, who seems to be the only character who they felt was worth adjusting to look like the art).
This is one department where I think JRPGs have the right idea (although I generally prefer WRPGs): make sure your characters read as iconic and unique in their artwork, then see that through to their in-game appearance, and they will stick in people's minds. At least Bioware seems to be learning this lesson with Mass Effect 2 where it seems like not everyone will be wearing carbon copies of the same high-end armor.
I agree whole-heartedly. I think Dragon Age made it out of production a great game, but it somehow feels unfinished - rather strange considering how long it took to finish. Basically the entire game needs re-texturing, and that doesn't pose much of a challenge for a modding community as skilled as this one. But what I'm most looking forward to is seeing what people can achieve once they're able to create and import their own models.
Either way I'm sure the game will only improve over the years until Bioware finally releases a sequel that does this beautiful and engaging world they've created justice.

would it be possible for you to retexture the templar armor with your new design?! I love the design of yours, but I prefer the mesh of the templar armors.
I would love to see them both united! ^^
Great work you are doing! I hope you will keep it up!

Holy crap, that IS James Purefoy! I knew the Warden reminded me of someone. Wow, that James Purefoy is such a cool looking guy. Now i feel dumb for not realizing it earlier. I personally thought it was a younger Thomas Jane.
Personally, the trailer warden reminded me of Valens from Lucasart's Gladius:

Dragonage is an incredible game, but I cant help feeling that a fraction more attention to different body types and facial features would have turned it from 10 all the way up to 11! I cry inside slightly when my elf lady looks heavily annorexic, and Wynne has the same boobs as Morrigan- tis wrong I say!

I stumbled across something very cool. Someone made a 3d render of the Trailer Warden's armor using 3dsmax and Mental Ray.

Damn that is beautiful. It's like a lighter version of the Warden Commander's Armor. Man it looks wonderful. I'd pay for that if Bioware ever made it DLC. I'd so pay for it.
Also, does anyone know who they modeled the Warden after in the videos? The same way they modeled Leliana after "Alleykatze" Stein. I think finding that out might be a great way to make the Warden picture perfect.
Yeah, that's the official model Blur made (the company Bioware hired to produce the cinematic trailers for Dragon Age). So getting that in-game was already apparently Bioware's goal, and we got the underwhelming purple Warden's Keep armor instead, no helmet that looks anything like that, and pretty much no sword or shield resembling the ones that Blur designed.Any hope of seeing something like that lies with modders.
While I love Dragon Age, I do think Bioware dropped the ball by having ALL of their (successful, non Marilyn Manson-based) marketing centered around art assets that don't exist in the game. That iconic sword Blur designed for the Warden is even the centerpiece of the cover of the collecter's edition, but nowhere to be seen in-game.
Also, the iconic Warden from the trailers is clearly modelled after the British actor James Purefoy who played Mark Antony in HBO's Rome.
Blur were given free reigns to work something out, I should say loosely based on gameplay vids. These vids were available to the public early on, so it's more than likely that most of us have seen 'em. The trailer warden was based on a character creator generated PC, and was a modified version of preset #5 (and yes, I too believe that James Purefoy was used as inspiration). The PC was wearing Juggernaut armor, and was accompanied by Leliana, Morrigan and Sten (as in the trailer). If Bioware is at fault here, it's because they didn't restrict Blur to using gear and characters depicted in the gameplay vids. But what happened was Blur put them to shame, providing superior character and armor/weapon designs.
I've got to disagree with you there, the hairstyle for the Warden wasn't even in the game, nor is that Sacred Ashes trailer face a preset at all. There is a tattoo that looks SIMILAR, but is DIFFERENT.

I just hope the equipment is going to be a little more balanced. Maybe making two tiers? One for early-middle game and one for end-game?
Still its a great mod

I wasn't offering my opinion, but relaying information already told by the devs. To clarify, Blur used gameplay vids as inspiration for their CGIs. These vids showed a PC made with preset #5 and modified, sporting the 'hm_har_ha3a_0' haircut (same as Alistair) and indeed the "SIMILAR" tattoo you speak of. From there they went on to create something of their own, resulting in what we saw in the trailers.

or is it not even possible to get a even close match up. I know this game is meant for PC. But I just got it today from Gamefly to test it out before I buy it.
Not even close on the 360. I have it and wish I had it on PC.

I tried with the toolset to give them less power, to be able to use them at lower level.
So i open "wab_wardsarcane_modcore" in the bioware/dragonage/addins/wab_wardsarcane with toolset. I extract the "wab_stenssword.uti" files to test. I open the extracted file with the tool and i divide per 2 the second number on each properties (the first is the ID of ech properties).
i close and save, and after that i insert the newly edited "wab_stenssword.uti" in the "wab_wardsarcane_modcore".
i close and save but in the game edited things do not appear... Do i miss something, or is it the wrong way to edit an existing mod.
The new screens sounds great... Had you planned to rework morrigane too, because she is more leathered in Sacred Ashes than in Vanilla.
PS : Sorry if there is mistakes, but i am french and english lessons are decades away from me.
