I honestly think that everyone but our siblins and the DLC conpanion will be a romance

We all know that Bethany and Carver are off limits and the DLC companion probably will be as well since that's just extra content that won't be available to all players.

We all know that Isabela is the F/F romance option as well as being available to male players.

Now let's look at our other options

Anders: Obviously had fangirls back when Awakening came out, yet I can't see him being available to male players, particularly after his, "pretty girl" line.

Merrill: A LOT of guys wnated a female elf who was romancable. I'd be shocked if she wasn't an option since Velanna wasn't in Awakening.

Varric:  Given that he narrates, it wouldn't shock me if he was avalable as an LI but he's still the least likely amonst the male characters.

Fenris: Attracted and INSANE amount of squee before he was officially confirmed. Mush like Merrill, I'd be shocked if he wasn't an option.

Aveline: If one female LI had to be cut, I'd guess that it would be Aveline since she's clearly the least phyically attractive of the three.

As for M/M romances, I'm guessing that the option will either be Fenris or Varric but probably Fenris since I'm still not sure if Varric is an LI at all.

I know I'm not the best informed member of this forum but I'm pretty sure that not all of those are confirmed companions. Would anyone care to enlighten me?

Not even Isabela is a sure bet simply because she smooches Hawke in the first trailer.

Yes I think there will be a lot more Li options in Da2 for all sexes and persuasions!

I hope fenris is female only, not only because I would like the mm romance to be someone other than an elf and he is my precious lmao

Indeed, they're terribly unlikley to base the decision on what people are asking for. Recipe for disaster.

Not all of them are no, Anders and Merril are suspected but their not offically confirmed yet; but the rest are confirmed as companions.

This.

Honestly, I am getting really tired of all these romance threads. You DO NOT know who the companions are yet let alone whether they are romances. Romances are one small optional feature for those who choose to persue them. Yet they get an inordinant amount of time and discussion space. When we have new people coming here to learn whether DA2 is a game they would be interested in and they see so many romance threads "Is X character a romance, are there s/s romances, I hope I can X romance, what happened to my DAo romance, etc" it actually starts to harm the sales of the game (for those who are looking for an action game, RPG or story based game and not a romance sim).

Yes, there is nothing against the rules about romance threads. I won't stop them or anything (within the usual rules, etc). Still.... it makes me tired.

You know what, I thought the whole responsibility thing would be an interesting angle, so was kinda hoping for Merill (I like the stoic no nonsense thing aveline seems to have going on....but recently dead husband baggage), but now I'm thinking, man, if theres a cute female elf, and she's not a love interest? Haha, man, I can taste the outrage right now. I AM ENTITLED TO HOT POINTY EARED ACTION.

Well we know Isabela will probably be romanced by either gender.

As for the ones we are not sure about yet, I'm putting my money on....

Varric - women only

Merril? - men only

A yet unseen man - men and women

Fenris - Asexual, hates to be touched

Aveline - Maybe a little flirting with male Hawke, but ultimately no.

ANDERS? - I hope he is not a companion in this game because I feel I've seen his full arc in Awakening. I don't care or want to learn more about him.

That seems like an odd way of thinking. Your fanbase likes a particular portion of your games, that's true. I think BioWare fans have been focused on romance for years and years now. It just surprises me you would...deride, I guess, those fans.

I know some only play BioWare games for the companions, and, by extension, the romance. Some people only read books about fairy tales.

I think it's rather cruel to say that these people who love your game are hurting your sales. We're told over and over that this forum represents a tiny, minuscule portion of the fanbase (and argument I use myself to dissuade people who think that the majority opinion here reflects gamers everywhere). So why is it something we like particularly comes in danger of harming sales?

I have a lot of respect for BioWare, and for you, Mr Priestly, but this just felt mean.

I think it's because they're one of the most memorable parts of the story. You come away with a few major points that instantly come to mind when looking back at experiences like DA:O and ME, and obviously lots of smaller ones that are likely keyed to certain types of recollection, and romances stick in the mind. I guess it's just the way people are used to viewing media, despite it generally being a subplot, and certainly in films, one that tends to be crowbarred havily in, it's one of, if not the major emotional connections you make to something like this.

I still think the forum devotes too much time to the idea mind, but for different reasons. I personally think people ask for the wrong kinds of things, what they think they want, rather than what they'd actually enjoy, rendering the whole excercise farily fruitless.

Where's the odds? I got 100 sovereigns burning a hole in my pocket and I'm itching for some risky investments.

Besides, the romance subplots are nice and all but if everyone and their grandmother became romance-able, I'd rather play Russian Roulette with 5 out of 6 chambers loaded. Plus, what about the NPC's feelings? Maybe they don't want to hitch up with some high-profile person who's always in the spotlight and in constant danger and killing stuff. Maybe some NPC's would rather settle down with a regular person with a normal simple life as far away as possible form the Player Character. I know I would if I were an NPC companion. I'd stick around, get the job done and then get the heck out of Dodge.

Really, Chris?

Anyway, I'm guessing Isabela is F/F as well as M/F because she was in Origins.

I am confused as to why people think Anders will be in this game. Several reasons, he has to play a role in Awakening which takes place...right in the middle of Hawke's story, and then even at the end of Awakening he had an epilogue, thirdly, srsly?

Also, stop predicting romances based off of four characters...we may already know that Isabela is bisexual, but that she's romanceable (sexable sure, but let's not jump to conclusions about other things), we have no idea. We know nothing about any of the character's personalities, save a bit about Varric and Isabela. We're so crazy.

You say she is an exclusively gay hermaphrodite?

I don't know how that'd work.

There is an easy way to avoid romance threads. If the word 'romance' is in the title, odds are it is about romances.
