Any fan fiction out there dealing with the War Hero background for Shepard?

In game you are never really given a detailed account of what Shepard did on Elysium that earned a Star of Terra. We know of course that he was fighting Batarians and their pirate and merc hirelings, and that at least part of the defenders were made up of civilians that Shepard had rallied to defend the colony. We also know that the defenders were massively outnumbered, and at some point during the battle Shepard held off an enemy platoon single-handed while he sealed a breach of some sort. Beyond that however we don't know much, so there is plenty of room for fans to fill in the details.

With that in mind, has anyone stumbled across any fan fiction detailing the formative event for War Hero Shepard? It would be interesting to read a story detailing the event that perhaps changed a young and idealistic Lieutenant into the hardened warrior so full of grim determination that we meet in Mass Effect 1.

 My friend TheSpazzo has a damn good fic on this very site. It's been comatose for awhile, but he's recently resumed work on it, so hopefully it'll be updated or even finished soonish.
