Let me just say the guy is absolutely adorable and for some reason totally underrated by female players (or so it would seem from the forums) - I really like it how slowly the PC can change him for better and how hard it is for him to acknowledge he has feelings deep down inside, on top of being totally hawt and too funny to ever leave at the campsite.

However there are some things that seemed rather strange, what bothered me most is that in Redcliffe you can't go speak to him (probably the same with Leliana) of the choices you have to make and also you could have put him in PC's  room after Morrigan/Alistair talk or scene.

I mean on the eve of the battle I only get to spy on Alistair and Morrigan or accept my fate alone in my room?!

Also when heading into the city it really bothers me I still get to be called a "friend" after he finally spitted out his feelings at the camp.

And I guess everyone of the 3 companions you chose to accompany you into the city could spit out a little line before entering the door to the roof.

Guess this is about it - at least he stays with the PC after everything's over (unlike Morrigan)

You've got a point, but I think it's because Morrigan and Alistair are the primary supporting characters, and the developers expect you to romance one of them.

Hopfully a mod will come along and fix your problem for you, though they wouldn't have new voice acting which is muchos suckage.

Well, I don't really like him, he easely flirt with my mage and the fact he likes to be an assassin make me feel unconfortable but he is maybe a better choice than Alistair >.>

Zev is a poor choice to begin with. I am half way through landsmeet, with him maxed...and he still hasn't given me the stupid earring. In battle he dies all the time, despite the attention given to him.

I'm getting a new PC in a couple weeks. I thought I would try Zev out while I'm waiting. Hmm...how many days til my new PC gets here??? Zev was poorly done. He's not worth the time.

He just requires some patience ;) which is good imo because irl I'd run as far away from Alistair as possible seeing how he glues at you the first time you bat your eyelashes at him.
How do you mean halfway through Landsmeet? After the Landsmeet has been called for the encounter should trigger the first time you travel around Denerim (the latest I could think of would probably be when you're saving Anora)
As for dying - I don't know in my party he's usually the one that dies the least and since the 2nd playthrough I rarely even use Wynne for healing. But he is at his best if you micromanage him a lot or toy with his tactics quite a bit because on default he's quite prone to switching targets for no apparent reason getting him more than a fair share of aggro.

Zevran is my favourite character to romance, I love him! I've never failed to get the earring. I'd only ask Bioras if they've gotten him to speak about his last job before he met the warden. If not then he hasn't really opened up to your character. I never have Zevran die in battle either. I've got all my companions set with a tactic to give themselves a poultice if their health gets below 25%, makes sure all of my people survive. Try setting him up to use a bow occassionally too. Don't understand why he keeps dying on you. Favourite character ever!

I'm a bit annoyed that you can get the romance achievement without actually having the romance.

I'm romancing Zev this time around with a Dalish elf rogue (I figured the two would have something in common) and Zev is hilarious. He loves to talk, and in the dialogues you get why he is the way he is. He's very easy to get brownie points with, and I invited him into my tent, and he didn't bat an eye. You can joke around with him (unlike alastair) and I may just go back and replay until he puts the moves on me, just to see what the difference is :-)

I love his blatant flirting, and the glimpses you get into his character when he shares his adventures, even when it lost me a point when he confessed one that was difficult for him to tell - almost like he resented me squeezing it out of him - However, I did gain 14 points shortly afterwards, it's all good LOL

and dang, somehow I missed the threesome with Isabel this go round too - all the more reason to replay LOL...with my first toon who was romancing Alastair, I turned her down, with the slighty more racy elf, I didn't get the opportunity. Oh the irony! :-D

After having romanced Alistair in my first playthrough, I went for Zevran next with the "keep you friends close and your enemies closer" attitude. I didn't have any intentions that my PC would get into a serious relationship with him though, but he is a really charming character, and once you get under his skin he is just adorable.

Although I was really charmed by Alistair during the first playthrough, I was kind of disappointed by the development of that relationship. Alistair seems to be insecurely and charmingly in love with you while he's courting you, but once you're "his", there is not much more to it. Zevran, however, is quite the opposite. Once he loves you, he changes from being the confident super-lover to becoming an insecure guy who doesn't know how to tackle his own emotions.

To me this makes Zevran's love feel more real than Alistair's. Alistair is like Romeo - he loves being in love and hasn't really had any close encounters with this emotion before. He is inexperienced, and how do we know that his love doesn't stop once everyday life is upon us? I get the feeling that Alistair is "easy come, easy go" when it comes to emotions. Zevran, however, is experienced both when it comes to sex and love, and the fact that he actually falls in love implies that the relationship actually is a serious thing to him. I believe his change in character is more serious than Alistair's - while Alistair's change is like a natural development for a young man, Zevran's change is one that one might not really expect in a hardened person like himself. I guess that somehow softening a character feels like a greater change than hardening one.

I just adored Zevran's romance, especially doing it as a male PC. I know a lot of people were upset that he was the M/M option, but I wasn't at all. And I definitely don't think he was a cop out. He's a very tough character with a lot of emotional baggage. But if you can win him over, you get one of the happiest endings in the game with him (assuming you both live; otherwise it's super sad). I agree with Antikristine that "softening" Zev was more of a reward than hardening Alistair. I got the feeling I was helping Zevran to heal.

Plus, there's nothing funnier than Shale commenting on your relationship. When she tells you to be careful about reproduction and Zevran wryly comments he doubts that will a problem...I was loling for far too long.

The only complaint I have, is now that Zevran is at 100%, I haven't gotten his earring, nor any professions of his feelings...in fact, he's rather clammed up. No more dialogue options - I would have preferred a few more. He does converse with the other members of the party, and I get some snippets there, but dammit how about a face to face? *sighs* THAT is why this game is so addicting LOL :)

Did you talk to him after the battle with the Crows?

Remember, most of the major conversations will be at the camp.

Loving the Zevran's relationship as well :D

I wanted to ask: is it worth to refuse the earring the first time? I read somewhere that when Zevran approaches you once again to give you the earring back, the conversation is more satisfying. Is it true?

I love Zev. It's been interesting to roleplay it as a similarly minded mage, who's found herself depending on Zev for comfort, not realizing she actually loves him, or is falling for him. He's a great character, that takes a long time to really know and get past his defenses. It's nice to have a romance like that really, most of them are someone who's generally infatuated with the PC. Zevran isn't, not in the same way.

Getting to that final moment in the relationship, is just fantastic. "I am yours" is filled with a lot of tenderness, I can vaguely hear his voice breaking as he says it.

On note to the earring, I read if you refuse it by saying you won't take it unless it means something, he will offer it again and confess that it is a token of affection, and will even agree it's a proposal if your PC wants it. This is just what I read though, I haven't gotten to the point where I can try it out just yet.

Oh! *girlish squeal* I gotta replay my earring scene to find out!

Zevran is the best romance option ever! He is so deep and at the end when he says I am yours every time you talk to him! It is so romantic. He is so scared of his feelings yet his actions speak volumes about how he feels. Alistair is a child compared to the man that Zevran is and Zev has had such a hard life... He could certainly cry in my bosom if he wanted to. And I agree I wish he would not refer to me a friend in the last scene. Or at least tell me I am more than a friend to him. Somehow acknowledge that we are more than friends. My PC dies a little inside every time he uses the F word with her.

Allright, I know I sound like the worst fangirl right now, but is there someone who has had this conversation with Zev and can confirm this?

I accepted his earring, and after talking with him in camp he confessed that he might be in love with the PC. The fact that he was entertaining that thought was indeed endearing, but if he goes even further I would want to watch that cutscene.

I romanced Alistair (unhardeneded) last time and it was sweet. I am romancing Zevran this time and he is definitely a much more mature character. I actually like his romance better so far (at 100% adore just before landsmeet). At first my mage brought him along because she did not trust him and wanted to keep an eye on him but he sort of grew on her. It was heartbreaking to turn poor Alistair down though.

I have also heard that turning the earring down the first time leads to a more satisfying conversation so I am planning on trying it (with a save game to back me up).

I fell hard for Alistair my first run-through. I had really intended to romance Zevran first, but it didn't help that I picked him up so late (I did Redcliffe, then the mage tower to cure Connor so I didn't officially "complete" an area until the mage tower). Reading all the negative posts about Alistair on here though has really almost ruined my enjoyment of him now, sadly.

I was turned off by Zevran quite a bit at first once I finally got him because he flirted with the other party members even after I got him interested in my PC. I am a possessive player and therefore so are my PCs.  But when I stuck with him through all his nasty stories and got to the tender guy underneath the scars my heart melted for him and I've romanced him with every PC since.
Now I find him adorable, even wearing the ugly leather helmets. They bring out his pretty eyes!

I love his cute little lines like, "Ah, my dear warden. Did you miss me?" And I really enjoy his banter with Oghren and Shale.

I tried getting the "better" earring conversation from Zev but I had no success. He took the earring back when I demanded that it mean something but he never offered it again.

He will offer the earring again (about 2 conversations later, if I recall), and say it is as a token of affection. Although it's bugged and doesn't actually show up in your inventory the second time. :pinched:

Thanks for information, I'm definitely going to try this. Doesn't really matter whether the earring can be found in the inventory or not, I just want to see the conversation :)

I'm glad some people like Zevran. I hated him from the first moment I met him. *

I did romance with him anyways just for accomplishment's sake tho'. Firstly I must admit he is better than Alistair during romantic conversations (Alistair is way much better than any character in the game tho') but way behind of Morrigan. Still need to level up another female character to romance with Leliana so can't comment on her.

Zevran tried to get into Leliana's pants during a party banter while he was romancing with me and I kicked his sorry butt. On the other hand while my male mage romancing with him during a party banter Alistair asked Leliana "what women see in Zevran". Heh that guy is really jealous of me like Morrigan claimed. LOL!

* Don't get that comment as homophobic. As I always say I prefer Dairren over Zevran for M/M romance option.  Zevran is too feminen for my taste.

I like both male romantic paths but Zevran is my fave. He's is the most hard won and has the most interesting options to him. It also pays not to necessarily choose what I think of as the 'right' responses and in turn you get Zev saying some really good stuff to you.

[SPOILER]

My favourite bits are firstly, when you meet Talisen after the Landsmeet. Most of the options you get when you reply to Talisen, have Zev saying something like "You should not have left Antiva" but if you choose the option "That would be over my dead body" then it cuts to a picture of Zevran looking at you and saying "And I'm not about to let that happen". Brief, I know, but still terribly romantic..

I also like it when he gets into a terrible huff when you pester him about the real reasons behind giving you the earring. His nostrils all flare and he says something like "You don't want earring, then you don't have earring!.." very very funny. And bless him, he apologises later.

I know a lot of people are complaining about the endings but I think they're fine. What I do agree with however, is the lack of things to say to your chosen love interest both before the landsmeet, the night before the final battle and immediately before you take your party of four in to storm the castle and kill the Archdemon.

I'm sure that before the Landsmeet, Zevran would say something reassuringly saucy at you, and if you've managed to make him love you (poor Zev) before the Archdemon, I'm certain he would say something more meaningfully affectionate.

However, perhaps this is nit-picking.

But I agree with the OP, Zev is great!

I just got the best line from him, I LOL'd...

PC: "Care to join me in my tent?"

Zevran: "ARRRRR! Pirate Zevran reporting for duty! Prepare to be boarded!"

ROFL first time I have ever gotten that response. Absolutely hilarious!

I adore both Zev and Alistair, and it is difficult to choose, so I generally get jiggy with both, but depending on the nature of my character, choose the one most suitable from an RPG point.

But yes, I love Zevvy too. And the fact he's the first romancable male elf in an RPG, that makes him especially unique.

Zevran: "ARRRRR! Pirate Zevran reporting for duty! Prepare to be boarded!"

It's the promise of lines like this that make it impossible for me to ever kill him when we meet.
