I'm not sure if this is a bug or something everyone experienced as well

I have never really been a gaming freak or whatever... So I should only find awkward that playing the Awakening expansion in the "Nightmare" difficulty level is too annoyingly easy. Everytime a battle start, from small encounters to big quest ones, I only close my eyes and let the PC do the rest, not even worrying about any character getting health below 50%.

The few times I actually have to do something is when there is one or more big orange bosses, and still it's not really something that makes me use any health/mana/stamina potions either... Or poisons, for that matter... Needless to say, this is boring to an extreme...

I started the campaign as "Hard" and only changed to "Nightmare" in the settings a while after it started.. Is it possible that it doesn't actually change anything after the game is already started, and I'm still running as "Hard"? (Which is more like "Normal", while "Normal" is more like "Easy" in the original campaign as well)

Help, I wanna have fun :/

I found, if you import character from doa, you import that difficulty level as well no matter what you set it to in awakening

Ohh.. I did import my character.. It's that then, thanks a lot!!

Any idea how to change that? With a MOD even? Or I'll have to suffer this lameness until the end of the game? :/

I had also read that importing the save with DLC armor (that does not transfer over) will leave your character permanently with those bonuses, even though you are no longer wearing the armor. I'd not be lazy and look up that link, but I'm about to go to bed.

Apparently using a save where you don't have that equipped will fix it if it's this particular problem.

Couldn't find any MOD for it...

Maybe there's a console command or something I can change editing the savegame files? =/

Thread ressurection!!!

I have the exact same problem as the OP, but I didn't convert my character.
I played DA:O on hard and it had some tough points but most of the time I was ok.
With awekening I really had no problem with anything so I changed on nightmare...I can't see any difference to even easy...it's...boring...
Is this some confirmed bug I'm missing? D:

This isn't a bug per-se, but it has been a long running complaint by many. There are a number of mods as dragonagenexus.com to make the combat more difficult. I can't comment on how good or stable they are, but there are a number of them. Awakenings was definitely geared to a starting level of 18-19, but many people finish DAO close to the level cap of 25 without using a single exploit. When modded/DLC armor and weapons are added to the mix, it can exacerbate the problem. Some builds, particularly blood mage and battlemage, are inherently overpowered, which fits the lore, but does make for easy gameplay. I found rogues to be the most fragile for post-DAO play, so if you are looking for more of a challenge, try a rogue in light armor. The combat in the DLC GoA is a good deal more difficult as well.

My main is a Human Warrior, Tank specced...
I don't have ANY Mods installed. I only have the offical DLC and I even destroyed the items I got from there because I thought it would be lame to start with such powerful equipment.

And Builds...yeah...I have an Battlemage but I actually don't use him anymore...
Especially since I got an archer rouge...uhm...seriously...accuracy is badly overpowered...
But even without it...I run into 2 elite ranked hurlock alphas crowded with 2-3 normal genlocks with my 2h spirit warrior...I use onslaught and everything dies.

I just finished the battle at vigils keep and I nearly solod the armored ogre with my tank and the herald was 5-shot from my archer...

Ofc you get much better equipment in comparrison to DA:O and some builds are very powerful, but it can't still be that trivial.

---Edit---
Little side question: I'm planning on buying DA2 ofc too and I wondered if the diffculty is that weak there too...? I hope not. ^^

Erm.. to give you an indication, there's not friendly fire at all unless you're on nightmare. And imagine how fast a dual wielding warrior/rogue attacks with maxed attack speed? 2h warriors can now easily surpass that speed.

DA2's combat is...different. My personal opinion is that it traded one set of issues for another and is far too predictable, but they did significantly rebalance combat with the new patch. I haven't played enough of it to say if I like the changes. That said, there are some who think the new combat mechanics are the best thing since sliced bread. Try out the demo if you are unsure. It is pretty typical of the combat in the game.

Tried the demo. Looked...more action oriented...as if it was a console action rpg...or something...not bad though...

Back to DA:O...bioware must have serious difficulty issues...DA:A too ****ing easy and even plain boring on nightmare...
DA:O finished on hard without a lot of problems...
GoA...I'm not even able to beat it on normal...for some parts I even switched to easy...
Seriously...that's a bad joke...a game witch has 4 different difficulties should be able to emulate these difficulties...
Pretty pissed atm...somehow the DLC and DA:A are feeling like they were hastly finished to make money with...nothing in comparison to DA:O...not even a bit.
