I would like your squad mates to have actual armor, instead of nothing (Jack), or a catsuit (Miranda). I would be happy if your squad mates had the same armor system that Shepard has in ME2.

So some people rather see squadmates running in vacuum almost naked instead of wearing proper armor, because that way they show more of their personality?Really?

I hope that armor will be back, in LotSB Liara had armor, but I would like also helmets. Preferably DA:O style, when helmets just dissapears during conversation

Yes, I also miss the ME1 armors. They actually protected you and I liked more the design of them. Tough more variety would be welcome.

I agree with those saying that the squadmates should have an armour set for when going on missions. Each one having an armour outfit that actually looks like it would protect them from space. Not picking up generic armour like in ME1, rather just a look, if you can also alter their colours like with Shepard's armour that would also be a great bonus (yes, I am sad enough to want to colour coordinate my team).

Also, I would like the tubing from the airpack on the back that connects to the helmet back, since I felt like that was one of the characteristics of ME, gave the armour in ME a unique look.

What I really have a problem with ME2's way of doing things was having comic super hero costumes for everyone instead of functional-looking armor.

This especially. I almost never used the extra armor sets due to net seeing Shepard's face during conversations. The helmets need to be treated the same way they were in DA:O.

Don't listen to them, BioWare. We needed to see that there were tattoo-covered cyber punks walking around the ME universe. We needed to see that not all the women (or men) shared the same body. It added so much to the richness of the world; to take that away and go back to the boring, generic, time-wasting ME1 way would be a tragedy.

Bring back an inventory system. Give squad mates armor. Maybe Miranda wont die in ten seconds anymore. It makes no sense that Miranda fights in her space spandex. And Jack fights in her bra... seriously?

Why not a inventory system like KOTOR?

So maybe not the same armor, I like the set config like the Kestrel armor, and how I can config it myself. That I like. Keep doing that and allow squad mates to wear armor.

Yes, angry kitty armour for Garrus FTW Posted Image

In all seriousness though, yes I would like more variety with the armours. In ME2 it was just so boring, and I didn't like the squad armour system either. So why not balance it, give us some more variety but not so many that you end up having 50 armour - sets in your inventory?

NO and if anyone wish to know what the "forum members" think about it check the "Vote for the armor settings you wish to see in ME3" poll below.

Team mates can wear whatever the hell they want on the Normandy, but if they're backing me up on a mission then they should wear what I bloody well tell them to wear and that means a proper skinsuit or suit of armour.  I want to be reassured that the moment we land on a planet they aren't going to be splattered, leaving me to fend for myself.

I prefer the armour system of ME1 over that of ME2 yet I prefer the individulisation of parts that ME2 had over ME1.

Yes the ME1 armour system ( and inventory in general ) had it's flaws.  There should never have been so many levels of each item, 3 of each would have been more than enough, items with the same name should have stacked, ( hell, they managed to do it with every other game they've released so why not Mass Effect? ), and selling items should have had a how many slider bar. But the stats and mod system was far superior to the neutered version that we got in ME2.

And don't get me started on the sodding helmet toggle.

God!  I miss having FemShep, Liara and Ashley all running around in dentical light armour with identical weapon sets.  We looked bad-ass. ( As opposed to ass-bad in ME2. )

And yet, the reason they originally gave for not allowing Shepard to have pink hair, tatoos or goth eyeshadow was because they didn't want to break the immersion. ( Despide the fact that "not"  being able to do those things broke immersion for a few people. - Supposed to be My Shepard but I can't make her look like I want her to. )

Fair enough I can understand it when Shepard was a marine, but as a Spectre ( wether sanctioned or rogue ) she should be allowed to look however I want her to, especially if she comes from one of the renegade backgrounds.

Jack with her tatoos was a slap in the face for those that wanted to be able to do the same with Shepard.

Me too.

The ME2 armor system is horrible. The squadmates' outfits are just ridiculous crap. Shepard's modular armor, while a nice idea of itself, is crap, because the chest pieces are designed to look too "cool" and "badass" (instead of utilitarian) and even leave a spot of skin on the neck exposed, so I ended with giving myself the "console" armor from ME1 via editing the "coalesced.ini" file.

I don't know, but ME 3 will definitely be out at this point. The armor system if they have one will probably already in place by now. I have a feeling it was the first thing they worked on. I have a feeling though your character and shepard are going to be in more hazardous environments now that the reapers are at our door step. Shepard's crews going to have some sort of armor. I mean do you really expect in ME 3 as a designer after seening fans reactions from ME 2 bout the physics putting the same crap you did in the game when it came to the collector base. Now as for inventory system. I think Bioware is going to have the problem worked out for the hardcore fans and the CODs so this way everything works smoothly. When it comes to the actual crew I would like the armors to be customizable in the end, but it will all come down to the budget and the time they have left to do it.

Almost forgot about that.  Not only should it be armor that can protect the squaddies in a gunfight, it should be sealable in the event of a toxic enviroment/vacuum.

I actually did a thread and a poll on this recently.

You can find it here, and I think it's pretty obvious from the amount of votes and how many people vote yes what the fans actually want.

social.bioware.com/903531/polls/13032/

I think it's really cheap and ridiculous what they did in ME2 when it comes to squad armor. And lazy.

Too ****ing cumbersome. I shouldn't have to waste four hours doing save/reload just to match certain brands of armor I wanted.

You're absolutely right. You shouldn't have to. And, in my experience, you don't have to. Why would you? I just picked armor up as I went along. The most time I may have "wasted" in getting it was stopping by the various shops whenever I was on the Citadel or popping down to the reqs. officer on Normandy and seeing if they had anything new.

Not a single save/reload for me while doing that. It was just part of the game play, and I picked up armor as it came along, gel'ed or sold whatever I didn't want, and played the game.

Thing is the inventory only gets restocked when you gain a level (i.e. Buy armor at level 48, and you have to wait till level 49 to get the next set of armor.). If you already make one purchase at a location, the shop's inventory is permanent. Problem I had with most of the armor is all of them were A. Outright useless or B. They looked ridiculous. I ended up save/reloading for Collosus/Armax Predator/Character's Default armor every single time. Things get three times as cumbersome when you have to deal with the "Light/Medium/Heavy" classification as well.

I see. I did not know this. I've only played through a few times, since I only bought the game a couple of weeks ago when the Steam Christmas sale started (I was going to buy it anyway, so jumped on it when it hit $14.99, though I could have waited and got it for $9.99). Right now, I'm basically on my 3rd play through (completed one maleShep, one femShep, and this is PT2 of the same femShep), so I haven't figured out all of the details of the game. Good to know, though. That will save me some trips. ;)

But, I don't get why you would save/reload...

The way I played was basically, you start with your default armor. Fine. Take whatever you can get that's better until you can find or afford something you like. If you feel like it, keep some extra sets around to try out different balances of hardening, shields, and biotic resistance. Hang on to any alien armor for when you get your squad. Sell or gel anything you don't want. Play the game as you like.

I did that and came out of my first play through with femShep with both her and Tali in Colossus armor (shown in the second pic), Garrus and Liara in Mercenary armor, and Wrex and Ash in Predator armor, all very useful for them. PT2 started with me in my Colossus and all of the other armors in inventory, so I could just equip them to the characters as soon as I met them.  I then soon came across a set of lightweight human Colossus which went to Liara. Kaiden's a dead man, so he'll be fine in Scorpion armor. I rarely use him anyway.

Where is the need for save/reloading? Are you deleting armor as soon as you equip a new set? Or am I not understanding what you mean by save/reloading? To me it sounds like this means saving your game and then reloading when you don't get the armor you want?

ME1 had more options, more options is always nice, so I'd vote for ME1.
Plus it looks silly seeing Jack, Miranda, and Samara wear what they
wear on the battlefield and in space lol.

I could go without the scaling from I-X. Maybe I-V, but having I-X for Drell, Turian, Asari, Krogan, Quarian, Human, and Geth would be a bit much.

I was happy with Shepard's armor system in ME2, but I wouldn't wanna have to go through the same level of customization for each and everyone of my 12 or so possible squaddies. That's just insane.

What I'm hoping to see is for my squaddies to have personality-appropriate casual wear, and a personality appropriate hardsuit/armor set (with automatic helmet toggle in vaccum/hazardous atmosphere). The armor will likely not be all Alliance/Cerberus issue, so best leave it up to the squaddie to "bring her own favorite".

If you want the armor to be "upgradeable" make it so that it upgrades along with the character level (perhaps with cosmetic additions appearing on the model as the squaddie levels up).

Having to scroll through 57 different suits of armor on the Normandy felt like Diablo 2 munchkinism...DO NOT WANT *period*.

All of these "do not want" complaints can be fixed with a single one and only inventory grouping feature. I hope it does save the day, otherwise there will be nuclear rage meltdown.

I agree with you completely. Oh, just like we saw the first week after the release of ME 2. It was extremely entertaining to read the forums then. I'm surprised the devs didn't have to breathe in bags from reading all the comments of Nerd rage. Posted Image

If they really cared about that, they wouldnt implement the same crap in Dragon Age 2.
