From the codex:

Because Haestrom's sun has overwhelmed the planet's protective magnetosphere, humans foolhardy enough to venture into geth-controlled Haestrom must exercise extreme caution. Minutes of radiation exposure will overload shields and hours of exposure will kill. Furthermore, solar output renders surface-to-orbit communication nearly impossible.

Note as I said radiation not heat . It did say hours will kill. the whole mission took maybe a half-hour or so.  So exposed skin wouldn't matter as regular armor might not protect you from the rads either. In either case they would have anti-rad or the wondrous medi-gel to make you good to go.

Why increase chance of death by not wearing protective armor? It makes no sense. You don't go into a mission in a hostile environment, and know for sure that you would get out of the planet without any harm, many things could go wrong, extending the time on the planet, and if you're not wearing proper attire, you die.

not Mass Effect 1's system, but each character having their own armor/suit build much like Sheperd has in ME2 would work for me

Gameplay time does not equal in universe time proven by the fact that it says it takes a few minutes for shields to fry yet in gameplay takes only a few seconds.

Ehhh

In ME 1 only a select few suits had the environmental protection that would be necessary. I'm saying even the base armor even with a sealed helmet might not block radiation at all. It might be alittle better than exposed skin, but radiation can get you through much thicker walls of buildings etc.

I don't care about practical application, I just want my characters to look awesome, and spandex is not awesome. I'm all for going back to ME1 armor and even the inventory system (at least it had one, regardless of how broken it was, although I hear the Xbox version was even worse than the PC<--PC RULES!). I like that the different classes of Shepard had different armor in ME1 (which actually was practical; why would biotics need the bulky armor that soldiers used). Having all the same in ME2 was generic and boring (at least the two classes I've played in ME2 have the same armor).

And why can't I take off my helmet with the DLC armor? I love the look of the Blood Dragon Armor (much cooler than the DA:O version) but I like to see my character's face, especially when some of the dialogue is written that they are looking at Shepard's face (I can't give an example, but I know I came across one very early in the game).

GIVE ME BACK MY SPACE ARMOR, pretty please.

I'd like a blend to be honest.

I liked the customization of ME2's armour pieces like Amplifier pads etc and I liked the option of combining that with the Kestrel Torso Sheath, but I'd like a lot more variety and I'd like to have that variety open to my squad mates as well.

It just seems so stupid to me that as Shephard I'm running around looking bad ass, but Miranda is in hot latex looking stuff. That should stay on the Normandy -- not as battle dress.

Crappy reskins and 3 models? No tnx

There's like only 3 different armors, the rest are just reskins with a bunch of crappy numbers

I really do admit, squaddies need more armour. Shepard also needs more armour (or perhaps armour that is actually good). The fact that the changes brought by armour components and that they were so goddamn minute that it made no difference by the end-game just felt really annoying. I have to say however that the Kestrel Armour pack combined with the Melee Shoulder Pads gave a whopping 45% exta melee damage... now that was great. Too bad the rest of it just didn't make up for it. Early on it was handy but by the end... meh... armour (with the exception of what I mentioned above) was useless and only for fashion purposes.

I would like more armour and components in ME3 however... D:

No I don't want to see ME1 style armor.  I like Shepard's armor the way it is and prefer to have more customizable armor.  As for squadmates I settle for 2 casual outfit and 2 combat outfit.

This.

Now I wouldn't mind the option to give them passive gear such as omni-tools or biotic amps ala the kind of upgrades that Shep's armor does in 2.

The problem with armor sets is you end up finding what the best one is and everyone ends up in it, I didn't like that in ME1 - a whole team of people in Colossus armor for example, it all ended up looking a bit Power Rangers. I like everyone having their own and distinctive look.

I am for a marriage of the two ideas -- I certainly agree that I dislike ME2's 'no one is important but Shepard' philosophy, I think ME1 missed the mark on a few things -- notably, some armor you pick up is worse than your starting armor. What Ilked about ME1 armor is the mods you can install or uninstall at your leisure. Fighting geth today? Up those shields with a Shield Battery. Asari? Where're my Energized Plates? Rachni? Fetch the Toxin Seals!

I think everyone should have ME2 Shepard's armor in ME3. You buy a certain kind of mod, and now everyone can equip it (or not), as the character requires. Someone like Tali could certainly benefit from a recoil damper, toting a shotgun as she does, but would your rather have that or something that ups tech damage on her? Choices, choices.

Also, I agree with whoever said differently purposed Amps and Omni-Tools need to come back. That was something I felt ME1 did almost perfectly.
