He's been stuck trying to keep order in some unholy crossbreed of Vietnam and New Orleans. Dammit, he gonna invade SOMEBODY, if only to get out of this effing swamp.  WHOSE idea was it to conquer the effing ISLANDS first.  They got bugs here the size of your head.  Why couldn't we conquer some place with a reasonable climate and some decent damn cookies.

I get the impression that the Qunari don't really have romantic feelings. That such feelings go against their religion / culture, since feelings often lead to disruption within a caste system.

Sex is just means of procreation. Nothing more.

You should start writing fanfics, if you haven't already.

Which explains why they are always in a bad mood.

Very nice! I shouldn't have looked at that page, however, because now I want to steal those awesome character names. Posted Image

Thank you. :D  Most of those came from my players, though, and I'm sure they'd be THRILLED if you swiped the names and stuck them on a minor NPC somewheres. :D

Oh, and if you actually want to waste time reading through all that, keep in mind that this was run BEFORE Origins came out so a lot of the lore/history is jacked because I made it up.

Sorry when I said Qunari other than Sten I meant ones clearly not following the Qun.  All the random mercs and bodyguards you come across.  You're right the ones that came with him seemed quite personable indeed.

Well, none of the random mercs and bodyguards have speaking lines, but you might assume that if they managed to get away without getting killed, they must be some kind of badass.

IMO Armaas in Awakening is pretty personable, too.

I wouldn't make that assumption at all.  In fact my assumption has been that if fighting was the only way out they probably died.  The ones that survived either left in mass numbers or snuck away from camp.

And I have to disagree about Armaas.  But that's probably just a matter of opinion.

No gay qunari?

Oh no, Im in love with Sten. How do I live without him?

And, yes, it's hard to see ****** in qunari, they are more wild, is more procreation.

But animals have ****** relations too :)

Only thing with the Qun is that it says that people have their place in the world, their role to fit in. It's quite restrictive which considerably lowers the chances to have a liberal view on sex.

I can imagine that a group of Qunari men may have sexual urges reguardless of a female being present when on long missions. If more than one together decide it is best to relieve their sexual urges by having sex; I believe they will do what is practical reguardless of a female being there.

There would be no relationship. It is not within their culture to do so. They are simply finding a practical way to relieve the stress of sexual urges. I still believe it would be rare and reserved for extremely long scouting missions. Sex doesn't have any attachment to Qunari,so I don't believe they would have anything against it or any punishment for it if done for practical purposes; however, I still think it would almost never happpen. The situation would be unique and uncommon.

Just because the qunari don't have sex for fun doesn't mean that they are not capable of having relationships with anyone. Emotional relationships and companionship are not out of the question, I think, though I doubt that they even express it in a way that humans would consider affectionate. They may resemble humans, but they AREN'T, and that should be kept in mind. So it may happen, it may not. Frankly, I have a difficult time trying to understand a culture when all I have to go on are the thoughts and opinions of one man, even if he claims to be orthodox.

Herp derp. I think the rest of the gang is glowing like a big stupid jellyfish right now.
That was a really fun game. I'd like to pimp PsB and the GM that took over later 'cause they were great.

As for the qunari, as in the topic, I can't imagine why anyone would care what the individuals did with their spare time, so long as kids are procreated for the furthering of their species and all that and all the work is done. I imagine it being like a lot of Roman and Greek poetry about the very intense friendships men developed in war or over poetry (Iliad, Catullus)... they're friendships, but they're also screwing around half the time.

As the relief pitcher for that campaign, yes, I'm ALL aglow. And filled with renewed purpose to get back to work on the sequel. :D

How do you know they're not a human race (****** Qunaris)?
Anyway, race in fantasy = humanoid species.

Qunari do not associate sex with their "romance"/close-friendship so they probably would have the equivalent of same-sex relations but it would not be sexual. When Sten calls the Warden Kadan, that is their term of endearment (my heart I believe it translates) so if you were a male Warden who found Sten's sword, you were pretty much in a same-sex relationship with him.

Yes, really.

Qunari culture is able to impose a single, sexual behavior on the vast majority of the populous while removing any emotional attachment from sex. If you know a human culture that's managed to do the same, I'd like to hear it.

Political Marriage?

i think in this case it would be more of a bond between blood brothers or comrades than that kind of relationship.
