Male Shep remains leisurely open while femshep goes more lady like

Glad Bioware made that change! Other then that there are no changes prior but hopefully there will be a lot more in the future.

What's "lady-like" about closing your legs? Why should one do that? I mean, sure, when you're wearing a dress and no pants, it'd be the logical course of action for both man and woman of our genitalphobic society, but otherwise? I don't get it.

Just saying that there's nothing wrong about the way she sat before.

Your right there isnt.  Its the result of the Dress exposure.  Theres a reason why ladies sit with their legs closed in a dress.  Said motivational below.

However the direct result of that situation forced the below.   To stop the embarressing situation of open legged femshep in a dress the devs decided to close her legs and that included the standard clothing.  Probably a design oversight because there would be nothing wrong with her sitting like she used to in her none formal gear

I guess I just don't wear my evening dress when I go talk to Garrus, as you are on duty.

The LotSB scene is different, as you are off duty and entertaining a friend, hence, you may be in the dress (so there's were the different animation comes into play).

So let's call a spade a spade and just say it, the common notion is for women it sit with their legs either crossed or together because it's "tradition" or "lady-like."

Then it comes down to personal preference.

That cutscene was made long before they knew Shepard would ever get a dress from DLC. What are you expecting?

No.  To be blunt... :P

It's called "not giving a show."  Generally involved sex, thoughts of sex, invitations for sex, and the whole "this is how mechanics work when doing it," hence women wearing dresses keep their damned legs closed if they're not trying to solicit sex.  With pants it doesn't really matter in this day and age like it used to.

Granted, it was during the Garrus scene and frankly my Shep and Garrus and...yeah. :P But generally the issue is with the sitting animation while in the dress.  Hopefully BW can distinguish and accomodate differences in clothing and gender when it comes to animations...maybe one day...but I'll just be happy if femShep can get her own unique skeleton/rigging/animations in ME3.

No animation change is needed. Just a choice of being able to NOT wear that dress (even during Kasumi's mission) is OK. Much easier to implement. Seriously, it's the dress's fault, not FemShep's.

My FemShep hates wearing dresses anyway. She prefers her clothes to be form-fitting but not too tight, the kind that best facilitates hand-to-hand combat. :bandit:

The animation adjustment was justified for femShep in a dress during LotSB. Pity bw didn't code it to distinguish what clothing was being worn but I guess they figured it would cover "all the bases" if they did a "cure all." Less resources spent for it, I guess, by making the animation across the board. I won't be surprised if there is no dress in ME3, though, as it has introduced quite a few challenges for something meant to be relatively "benign."

I don't mind femshep sharing maleshep animations (In most cases anyway), I just wish the walking animations for both wasn't so stiff and unnatural looking.

Not really an issue though, since shepard has a black hole between her legs. Litterally.

I don't care. I honestly like the fact that my FemShep walks, talks, fights, and taunts like a man. Because why the hell not? It's frigging 24th century! You think people still care whether a sitting position is "lady-like" or not? The word 'lady' is probably archaic by then.

Sometimes I feel really separated from perhaps the majority of FemShep fans. It's like their idea of feminity is firmly stuck in the 19th century. <_<

Wear the dress, re-watch the scenes and come back again :wizard:

I know what you're talking about. :pinched: I thought the dress was a disaster the moment I saw it at the beginning of Kasumi's mission, so I took it off asap. But I've seen videos of FemShep talking to Garrus in that dress. Grrr.

But that's something wrong with the dress. There's nothing wrong with FemShep. She can have a huge wardrobe if you mod a little bit. Some of those casuals make FemShep look feminine AND badass. For example this one (ignore the face mod, focus on the dress):

Problem from ME1 that was brought into ME2...femShep gets all the same animations as maleShep. Unfortunately. So she has/had giraffe neck, man-gait, and man-sitting. :P

This... makes so much more sense now. XD

Hey, Femshep is just showing the goods. Garrus doesn't know what a woman looks like, she just want to make sure he knows what he is getting into.

I think you missed the irony of that line if you think it changed the meaning of the dialogue...

Of course I got it. But Shepard wearing dress and having her... open in "right here and now" fashion during that dialogue. :D Man I am tired...

The way women and men sit generally isn't cultural. For the most part, it's biological, as certain positions are more comfortable for each genders anatomical differences. I'm all for feminism, and find the threads that say femShep being badass is a biological impossibility really offensive and stupid, but saying that not wanting her to sit in a way that looks clunky and over-masculine is a 19th century view is a little far.

anyone els notice that when female shepard talks to garrus and in particular while she begins to romance him, she sits with her legs wide open.
Does anyone else feel that this is out of charecter for her, i mean i know she isnt the most womanly woman in the game but still

YES!!! Definitely!!! I've complained about this behaviour many times in the forum, it's awful, she looks like a wh**e and it's out of character,Garrus deserves more respect than that!!!

Plus, the relationship between Shep and Garrus, without the DLCs, looks like two friends who want to try to have some sex together, nothing more! :pinched:

femshep's lines are pretty aggressive with garrus, she's basically like HEY GARRUS YOU DTF?

i think spreading her legs right off the bat is in character in that case, hahahaha.

she might as well push her boobies into his scouter, too.
