Exactly when does it run out? I reckon it lasts until you have to reload your gun (or the duration is up), but others have said that it only works for one shot.

Either a reload or using a power causes cloak to end.

I just did some testing (should probably have done that before posting). The cloak seems to switch off 2-3 seconds after initially pressing the trigger, even when the gun has plenty of ammo left in the clip.

Yes, you get the damage bonus during those couple of seconds. So fast-shooting guns like SMGS can benefit from it. You stop getting the bonus, and enemies target you the moment you turn fully white.

Curious now, where did the notion that it lasts until reloading come from?

The bigger question (and noobier one) is does it recharge faster if you uncloak earlier?
